Yea the whole "No Web Server" thing sucks. We host it for all of our customers so at least they dont have to mess with running the web server everytime they want to access their DVR remotely. Yes, it does not work well remotely on comps w/ onboard gpu's. Freezes and Glithches. Although, I have connected to one with a 500MHz, P3 256MB, but it had a 64MB PCI/GPU and it worked very well. Other than the features being a little short of some peoples needs I would recommend this DVR. We now have about 37 of these out in the field 80% online. and they are all working perfect. Haven't had one problem or failure. Very Stable HERE IS A DEMO IN OUR SHOWROOM: Goto http://www.cctvbuyers.com/demo/ under the Stand Alone DVR section its the first Link Click on Demo 1 Then choose 4 channel type in 63.237.30.14 Password is 111111

SATA or IDE Hard Drives?
kandcorp replied to kandcorp's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I can tell a big difference when comparing both DVR's side by side.(old hardware config and new one) With the new SATA HDD's, upgraded Radeon 256MB PCI Express Card, and intel mobo ....WOW -
More info plz: DVR Make/Model PC Hardware Configuration (If PC based DVR) thanks

Larry, Who do you guys host through?

Rory, Next time you make it into Ft. Lauderdale you should visit the IMAX theater right in down town Ft. Laud. Pretty cool stuff. And then hit up the Voodoo Lounge on 2nd for some late night drinkin....

So, I went and saw King Kong last night and all I have to say is WOW. Freakin awesome. Special effects alone were worth seeing it. Despite its 3 hour and 20 minute run time it really had no slow or dull parts. The story was incredible. Peter Jackson really did a great job on it. But, what do you expect it cost them 200+ million to make.

Well, depending on which DVR you will be using, most of them today will allow you to achieve access through IE. Its just the matter of letting the computer your acceding the DVR from download the Active X controls. What DVR are you using??

Use scotch locks...They should work.

Check your Windows Event Viewer. Click Run type: eventvwr.msc http://uwadmnweb.uwyo.edu/ASKIT/howto/software/mswindows/17106eventvw.htm Check that out to learn more about Event Viewer. Sounds like a Hardware issue to me..

Oh OK. Well from what I found it has 2 setup modes for IR application here is the quote from the www. "Two user set-up files for Day/Night mode (more responsive for IR applications)" So I guess it will work with an IR ill. but it would still all depend on the nanometer wavelength of LED. Wait till Rory sees this he should be able to give some good input since he is the IR master.
-
Whats a PAN 484?? And it depends on the camera wether it will be able to see the IR or not.

CIF resolution is 352×240(NTSC) and 352x288 (PAL) and generally this is where Stand Alones Max out as far as recording resoltution. The best FPS would be 30 per channel. And as of now if you are reffering to just stand alone DVR's the best recording resolution I have seen is Full D1 (720 × 480NTSC and 720 × 576PAL)

I have seen a few PIR cams with IR but none that really are of any quality. Does anyone know where I can get one? Basically I need a covert PIR camera with IR's. I have though about using an Ex-view but it will be too dark unless Infrared is utilized. thanks.
-
That may work Rory. Pretty cool idea, but dont know if IR's will be powerful enough. Thanks Though.

Geovision cards and video (graphics) cards... Which one?
kandcorp replied to C7Installer's topic in Geovision
We just changed hardware from a Radeon 9250 128MB (AGP) to a Radeon X300 SE 256MB (PCI-Express) Also, we changed to genuine Intel MOBO from a MSI865PE and CPU from a 2.4GHz P4 to a 2.6GHz. We put both systems old and upgraded right next to each other and the difference is clear. More sharp and clear video and system responds and performs a lot faster. -
Remote Hard Drive recording is Key for these particular situations. Like VST said use an external USB drive and hide it away form the DVR itself. So in case of another burglery at least you have the video footage still.
-
NO I have not. The only systems I have seen hands on working in the field are the VideoComm 5.8GHz systems. http://www.videocommtech.com/

VPON vs Cyber Vision
kandcorp replied to eyeonutech's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Haven't heard too much about either of them. But, I did notice the cybervision EV-2000 16CH Linux-embedded DVR System said it had "MPEG4 like Compression" Hmmm wonder what that is..
