What is "16.7 million pixels color " and "Remote back up VCR" supposed to mean. All I am trying to say is, you could probably pick up a little better and proven DVR for a little more $. As far as accessing the machine on your LAN, it all depends on the DVR. If it supports IE then after you network settings are complete (port forwarding, etc.), you can type the local IP address in IE and go through it that way. Viewing the hard drive as a network drive probably cannot be accomplished by that DVR. Most likely to retrieve data/video, you will have to connect to the DVR via LAN/WAN and download the clips from there.

kandcorp replied to pcmate's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Wow, what a difference, not only in the picture, but look at the bitrate. -
Very funny. I played the AVI file with my DIVX Player with no problems. The MP4 file I played with the ICR player.

Interested in DVR Cards
kandcorp replied to jack44's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Don't forget Avermedia. IMHO, I think they are as good if not better than GEO cards (features, functions, performance). -
You should check out these: http://www.hansol-us.com/products/products.html Used them for awhile and they give pretty good results for CCTV apps, especially on stand alones. Plus they have BNC, DVI, and VGA inputs. Your still never going to get an image like a CRT, but these are the best I have seen. Dell just released this: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/ProductDetail.aspx?sku=2007W5Y&spagenum=&category_id=6198&brandid=56&k=&c=us&l=en&cs=19&mnf=&prst=&prEnd=&mnfsku=&orderby=&searchtype=&pageb4search=&page=productlisting.aspx&instock=&refurbished= It has composite inputs as well. Here is the review from yahoo: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nf/20060428/tc_nf/42935;_ylt=AnXlxl6DV_KTJk65jFDdp5kjtBAF;_ylu=X3oDMTA5aHJvMDdwBHNlYwN5bmNhdA--

With the use of a PC based DVR, does anybody know of any wireless panic pendants. Basically for convenience and small retail stores to offer the employee a quick panic button they can push in case of emergency. This would work with the DVR and somehow signal to the proper authorities in the event of a robbery, break-in, etc.

Preferred Video Delivery to Police? - My first bust, Yea!!!
kandcorp replied to sattech2000's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Probably want to give them a copy in the original watermarked format and in AVI or MPEG. -

Is the NCR POS system a PC based? It must output a generic text (ANSII or ASCI) for the DVR to understand and insert. What GEO software are you using? Are you using this: http://www.geovision.com.tw/english/product/GV-data.htm If not, how is your DVR/POS system setup as far as com cables.

Type of Camera To Capture Faces at Main Door???
kandcorp replied to pcmate's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
For applications like that (if you want 100% facial recognition) you need a high-end professional body camera with Wide Dynamic Range. Check out the Panasonic SDIII. The reason for the dark faces is either the BLC (back light compensation) is weak or non existent. The Iris will close up due to the bright light around the person entering, making everything else dark. WDR will pretty much even out all lighting making both the outside, person, and inside very even in regards to light levels. What Make/Model camera have you tried in the past. Post the specs and we will tell you why you are getting these results. Also what brand lens were you using? WDR101 Conventional camera (with BLC off) When the background is brighter than foreground and the BLC function of the camera is OFF, the main object will be less-exposed and unable to be recognized. Conventional camera (with BLC on) When the background is brighter than foreground and the BLC function of the camera is ON, the background will be over-exposed and unable to be recognized. Wide Dynamic Camera (with WDR on) The Wide Dynamic camera has the Sony double speed CCD and the Wide Dynamic technology, both the foreground and background can be viewed clearly. -
Are you talking about securitymaster? If so, no havn't seen him.

He definately puts something that looks like a small black box under his shirt right when he comes into view of the camera. I have a Nano and the box does look very similar, but still hard to tell.

I have used these plenty of times with no problems. Produce great video during normal lighting. Unfortunately not really made for low light, but still great performance. Very small for a High Speed PTZ. ( 4-1/2 inch diameter (114mm) and is in light weight of 2.7lbs (1.2Kg) When recessed in the ceiling you can barely see it. Are these for indoor or outdoor? For the price, haven't seen any better. http://www.acutvista.com.tw/product.php?pro=detail&id=83

You will have to use a RS-485 to RS-232 converter. The protocol I think is PELCO so the DVR should have no problem communicating. From other DVR's I have worked with you basically setup a preset (zoomed in to the gate) and some sort of alarm contact sensor. When the alarm is triggered the camera will zoom to the specified preset position. The problem I ran into with other systems is after an alarm is triggered you will need to reset it manually. This is being taken care of eventually with a software patch but as of now there is no time-out or auto-reset for the alarm. As for the GEO software, this may not be an issue. You will have to wait until a GEO master logs in and reads the post.

I have heard great things about this: http://www.samsung.com/Products/Cameras/Anti_VandalDomeCamera/Cameras_Anti_VandalDomeCamera_SCC_931T.asp Dont know if 12X optical will work for you. But, this would probably look better than a standard cam in an outdoor housing.

I have not had too much experience with the Nuvico DVRs, but I can tell you the ICRealtime DVRs are bulletproof. I have been selling them for awhile now and had a 0% failure rate on everyone in the field. They just don't go down. Please dont take this as a "Product Pimp" I just would like to voice my personal experiences with the ICR line. If you have any questions at all about the ICR DVRs please feel free to post them.

This screenshot is 100% avermedia software (cracked obviously). Though it is real out-dated. None of the pics of the DVR cards match the one Aver card that works with that software. Here is the real card: http://aver.com/2005home/product/dvr/window/4eyespro/4eyespro.shtml

Ohhh OK. I couldnt really read the previous posts because it gives me a headache

Hate to post this but: http://www.security.globalsources.com/gsol/I/Dome-camera/a/9000000070548.htm This should be everything your looking for less the vandal and maybe another feature. I couldn't find any other specs on their website though about this cam.

You should have no problem with that phone. Usually for remote view via a PDA or Cell Phone, Windows Mobile OS is the only thing needed. Being this phone utilizes Windows Mobile 5.0, which is the newest version, I dont see any incompatiblity.

Most of the popular PC based DVR systems can utilize some sort of Email Notification. Another option is a scheduled FTP dump, I am pretty sure the GEO and Avermedia DVR's can do this.
