I would say stick 4TB internal in the ICR DVR...and go from there. Setup the DVR at the minimal client acceptable settings and see how long you can get out of 4TB. From using a couple different HDD calculators, not particularly for the ICR DVR but using H.264, 365days rec, 15FPS per ch., 15 hours a day it calls for 3548GB. If this is semi accurate you are looking at around a year for the 4TB internal. Now this could be way off, but why dont you see what 4TB can achieve. How many channels are you going to be recording?

Thats true, I am sure at night the cameras are constantly recording. Depending on the quaility of the cameras the noise will trip the motion as well. -I guess we will have to wait.. -

How is your system setup: -Recording Resolution (352x240, 640x480, etc.) -Motion Detection?? -Camera brand/type (resolution, color, b&w) -Recording Compresion (Mpeg4, geo MP4, wavelet) -Image Quality setting? Is the HardDrive partitioned with the OS or is it a seperate HDD. Anything else will help out. Thanks -

Thanks Rory. Ever used them with a DVR? I am thinking one of these maybe able to do the trick: http://www.security.honeywell.com/hsce/products/wireless/au/st/19450.html#Ordering%20Information Whenever the button is pushed it will use the PC's Alarm Sensor input, trigger the alarm, and the DVR software can make a phone call with a recorded voice message to 911 saying "send help, i am at 123 main st blah blah blah"
-
No alarm or burgler systems in place, and no plans for them in the future.

From what I remember you can get a 12V version or 110V, its just the matter of swiching out the PSU. Used to do it with the SVG400 at my old job.

Anyone know when an RG-59 Coax cable starts degrading in quality. Is there a general length of time when it should be replaced? Basically I have a Job that the customer does not want to replace his cable. It is RG-59 U type bare copper braid shield 95%. It has been up and running for about 15 years.

Hello and welcome, You probably could have started this thread in the "Installation help and acc" or "System design" but oh well. If Admin finds it is out of place they will move it. As far as the cable you will be using, I would stick to RG-59U 95% Bare copper braided Coax and 18 Guage for the power. How are you going to be powering the cameras? My suggestion would be through a Power Distribution box. You can find them here: http://b-tron.com/main2.html You will probably want to go with a Siamese cable so you can run both video and power through all 10 cables. Here: The connector you will need to adapt to your Vid Cap Card will be a Female BNC 2 Male RCA, something like this: You do not want to share video or power lines! Just run a Siamese per camera. If your going to be making your own cables, buy a 500ft or 1000ft spool of siamese and some BNC crimp on connectors; like this: I will get back to you on methods of crimping and recommended tools. There are some helpful videos I will have to search for that give you a step by step on crimping. -
Its on the site, though you need a user and password to access it. I had a copy of the software but have seem to mis-place it. The software is actually really easy to use and setup nicely. It has the ability to connect to multiple mobile DVR's. Oh, and the DVR is PDA supported. Just contact them and ask...

No experience with that particular model. Check out this: http://www.servision.net/prod_svg1000.html All cellular transport protocols: GPRS, CDMA and HSCSD, including a generic PCMCIA slot for custom modem integration. If this works anything like the SNG400, its good in my opinion.

There are already a few threads about mobile DVR recommendations. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=4756 http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=3778 http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=3162

Isaac and Spyman, I wish more people had your mentality. I agree, confidence among the products you sell is key. Even from a manufacturer’s point of view, this still stands true.
-
Ok, thanks. I would definately like to see them.
-
Post them Rory. As far as the player, let us know where it can be downloaded or host the .exe yourself. Thanks.

Well, VJD this is a thread in the Stand Alone Embedded section of this forum. We are not trying to compare to GEO or Avermedia(Totally different world). And look at the cost of a Realtime Geo or Aver DVR with Audio on every channel, comperable in specs, not even close. So having that said, I would like someone to post a clip of a StandAlone DVR or comparison to a S/A DVR that looks better than this unit. I honestly have not seen one, Especially for the money. Rory, do you have any clips from the GE dvr's you have used, and love ?
-
Agreed....There should be one for Geo, Aver, Vid Ins, and Iview. Although 2 out of those 4 dont get much action, but it still would keep things organized. Can you have a sub-forum index off the Main index link?

What motion artifacts are you in reference to. I see clear fluid movement with no artifacts at all. Have you looked at this clip yet. http://cctv.files4u.info/ICR_Kand_Front_PTZ.avi
