  1. Hi everyone, My customer is having a 16 channel DVR and currently it can't display the full 16 channels when they want to. The display is blank on the TV screen. I can't find any reliable technician to repair it. By the way, can it be repaired? Please advise what is causing the problem. Thanks in advance!

versus Hi guys, thanks for the replies. I'm still confused over the 2 cameras as above. Which is a better choice of IR camera? If my customer wants to use IR camera as it is for day & night use, which one should I recommend to them? Can the IR dome be used outdoor? Thanks again!

    Differences between GV-1480 & GV-1480A

Hi! The Geovision cards ending with an "A" is a card where you can relocate the card resources, in other words you can use the resources from Audio and Realtime Overlay to get a higher frame rate on the recordings. For instance you can say that on a A card you can use it in a "Turbo" mode if you normally dont look so much on it in realtime, like pasiv surveillance, and mainly checking recordings after incidents then it is better to have higher frame rate then a good preview. Total Recording Rate CIF 480 fps (NTSC), 400 fps (PAL) D1 240 fps (NTSC), 200 fps (PAL) Turbo VGA 416 fps (NTSC), 400 fps (PAL) Turbo D1 352 fps (NTSC), 320 fps (PAL) The A cards is only available in PCI-Xpress models. JD Hi JD, Do you mean that the cards with (A) is not realtime display but only shows realtime recording during playback? Thanks... To explane this I gonna use the GV-1480 card and the GV-1480A card as an example! In the GV-1480 card there is only one way to setup the card and that is fixed in the firmware. The GV-1480 card delivers approx. this: 400 frames a second when recording in 1 CIF which means 25 frames on each of the 16 channels. 240 frames a second when recording in 2 CIF which means 15 frames on each of the 16 channels. 200 frames a second when recording in 4 CIF/D1 which means 12,5 frames on each of the 16 channels. The numbers above is with audio off and Realtime or Full motion preview as I like to call it since realtime is more to describe delay in picture which now is more an IP video thing. Audio may reduce frame rate by small numbers. The GV-1480A card run in Normal mode is like a normal GV-1480 card, but can be run in what Geovision call Turbo Mode, in Turbomode you will get this: The preview is not realtime/fullmotion and audio is disabled! But you will then get a higher frame rate! Which is more like this: 320 frames a second when recording in 4 CIF/D1 which means 20 frames on each of the 16 channels. So when relocating resources from realtime/full motion preview/overlay you will gain 120 frames each second which is 7,5 frames extra on each channel each second. So the user can then decide what he wants too do! If you want fullmotion in 4 CIF preview and full frame rate on recordings in 4 Cif recording then you have the Gv-2004/Gv-2008 cards or maybe use other hardware compression cards like Hikvision cards that delivers more video at a better price! JD Thanks a lot for your explanation JD!
