Exporting DVR Hard Drive to PC for Police - Problem!
Chris SFP replied to CityTiger's topic in Computers/Networking
Hi Just a thought I had a customer bring me a DVR with the same problem you are having the other day, turns out that it was set to still record. Once the recording was stopped Windows could access the files and playback the recordings, before Windows did see a connection but not a hard drive. Check you are still not recording and if so turn it off and try again. Hope this helps. Regards Chris SFP SECURITY -
which card is right for me ?
Chris SFP replied to knighty's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Hi Alan For what its worth here are my thoughts. Firstly for 8 camera's I think you should look a little higher than a 1.7 P4, first thing that might upset your plans, secondly having a text or email whenever the motion is triggered sounds like a good idea but can be a problem, would those camera's used for this be inside or out? A windy night in autumn with the leaves falling will see your in-box filling up very quickly with an outside camera. If the card you settle on has alarm in you can use PIR's for the detection or mag door switches etc. For the card Geovision are good and will do all you want, but be careful if buying from ebay as most are clones with pirate software. Another option might be an 8ch WAPA card, I personally like these and sell lots of them every week with few problems. They are not that popular here though, I suspect many where cloned ones or used if the wrong system. Do a search for WAPA or WAVE-P and if you want some info let me know. What it won't do at present is give you a remote view on a mobile or send text's, it does work with firefox and IE plus its own remote software and will send an email on motion. They do allow mixing of cards though so if ever an 8ch system was not enough you could add a 4ch or 8ch card or even the new WAPA IP camera's up to a max of 32ch per system. Much more basic software than Geovision but I think the price reflex's this. Hope that is some help for you. Regards Chris SFP SECURITY -
Wave P BL-1408 software

Hi Can you tell me which version software you are running? Does it also crash at other frame rates and if set to CIF recording? All the best Chris -
Wave P BL-1408 software
Chris SFP replied to ctsk8r's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Hi That would be normal as it only has a single chip on the board, to use AMcap or Active Webcam etc you would need some WMD drivers for the card, as far as I know there are not any for the Conexant CX25853 chip that this card has, but you could try a web search and see. Are you having a problem with the Wave-p software? All the best Chris -
Wave P BL-1408 software
Chris SFP replied to ctsk8r's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Hi I would say its down to the decoding chips ability to render each frame, the single Conexant chip on these cards for each 8 channel input is able to handle Cif real-time but can not handle D1 real-time but only half (12.5 for Pal and 15 for NTSC). The Philip's based cards have a single chip for each channel so can record real-time at 640x480 as well as cif. Before we started selling these we did test with some Vista computers and all seemed well, we did have a couple of problems with the first 8.2.0.0 software, 8.3+ has so far been OK . As far as I know all the ones we have sold for Vista are running OK. All the best Chris SFP SECURITY -
Wave P BL-1408 software
Chris SFP replied to ctsk8r's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Hello The BL-1408 and 1416 are software encoding cards in PCI-Express format. As far as I know the following is correct. Version 8.3.0.0 can record at D1 with 12.5fps (15fps NTSC) and 25fps (30fps NTSC) using CIF resolution. Version 8.3.1.0 is fixed to half D1 (704X288) 12.5fps (15fps NTSC) Version 8.2.2.0 can mix the Philip's based SAA PCI cards in the same computer as the BL PCI-e cards Hope thats some help. Hi I was thinking perhaps you could use the motion to send data to an IP address, not sure if the firmware on yours is the same as we have. But if you know an IP address that won't be bothered by a small data send then you could enter that address in the set-up on the network page in the Remote host IP box and then on the recording page in the linkage list you should have an Upload to centre box, tick that and it will send eveytime there in motion to the IP address you set. If you have these options then when ever there is motion it should send out data which if the connection stays on for around five hours should keep it open if you can trigger enough motion events before it drops the line. A temporary work around perhaps while you work out why it does drop the line after a few hours. Hope that is some help, if your firmware does not have that you could request it from Hikvision, I can give the the version. All the best Chris SFP SECURITY

Cheap mobile 4 channel DVR with network capability
Chris SFP replied to todd2's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hello todd2 Would you like to tell me exactly what you wish to do, I ask as I am working with a customer for an economic solution that sounds a bit like you are after. We need to put together a system that can be used in a vehicle, to be parked and left over night perhaps to covertly keep an eye on a site and also a quick deploy, semi mobile unit. Both will usually need to use 3G modems (no network or Internet on site), we have a couple on trial at present, it also needs to be able to function on battery power alone. If this sounds like something you are after I can share what we have done so far. I wonder if you have thought of an IP server with local recording as this is one route we are exploring. Well it was sunny today. Found a few good tips here so thought I should join. Not sure if I will be asking for more help than I give but will throw in my thoughts if I think they will help. Bit of background, I mostly just sell equipment of late but still like to get my hands dirty now and again, I have done more than a few Geovision systems and Hikvison DVR's and IP kit plus for economy Wave-p cards and now IP camera's. Always have been able to think outside the box so I hope I will be of some use on here. Questions, thoughts and replies welcome. All the best to all Regards Chris

Hi It sounds like your Internet supplier or the modem is dropping the connection after time. Some routers have the option of always connected in the set-up, have a look for that, if that is OK you could try contacting who you get the Internet with and see if they are dropping the connection. Failing that are you using the CMS software? You could always set the DVR to upload alarm info to it, say motion and that might keep the connection open. Not sure if you could use just an IP address to send it to but it would have to be yours or one you can use, that should work as well. Hope that helps Chris SFP SECURITY
