Does anybody have any images for these cameras? I see member has posted some pretty nice images of a pool and cts-v. Best bet for the money? I already have some cnb's and am looking for a camera that will give me a clearer image.

I had previously purchased 4 540 TVL Sony HQ1 chipset 4-9mm cameras from an online vendor. I had the previous version of these cameras and they were about the same/maybe better image quality than my current CNB's VBM 24vf's. This new camera Model: VFD-WDR62810 appears to have an IR cut filter. I had one of my CNB's go gray and had to have it replaced under warranty. CNB's are not a bad camera at all, but I was expecting more in the image quality area for all their hype with the "Mona Lisa." They are not the "end all" to all cameras. I have noticed more pixelation with the CNB's compared to the old 540tvl's. I have an Avermedia EB1304 DVR so I doubt that is limiting the CNB's. Here is a link to my comparison: http://s792.photobucket.com/albums/yy204/alschmid/ The old cameras I had were listed with "paige plenum." You decide which is better.

Yes, that is it.

I plan on getting a hybrid DVR.

That is more what I am looking for. Something where you can at least tell what type of car the person has after they rob you. That way I can be on the lookout for the SOB. I doubt it is my DVR causing this issue as it did not happen with my other cameras. If anybody wants the CNB's then PM me and 100 each plus actual postage they are yours. I need something better.

Sorry, can't post the link here. Search ir illuminator on ebay for seller securitycamera2000 and you will find what I am referring to. It is a cylindrical illuminator. You adjust the ir beam by moving the IR element in and out. Works nicely for the price and have had no issues with it burning out so far. I have a 48 led ir illuminator(not using now) and the beam is very tight. That one would be good for a longer pinpoint range ir but it is not good for a wide angle (very narrow beam).

If it is in B/W mode you do not have enough light. You will need to add an external IR. Check my other thread and you will see some pictures of the cnb's with a cheap ebay bullet IR. The cheap ebay bullet IR is not bad for the price and you can adjust the beam angle. Here is a link to the picture: http://i792.photobucket.com/albums/yy204/alschmid/IR.jpg

It was downloaded to a usb drive then I took the snapshot. The other pictures in quad view were snapped i the web application (webviewer). I also played it back on the dvr itself to verify, no difference. I spent days trying to identify the car but could not make anything out. It was very bright out in the morning. I have noticed the brighter things get the worse picture I get. Around dusk yields the best picture.

Tell me about it. I have tried everything with the settings on the cameras/dvr etc.
-
It is at D1, I have checked the settings. Can I post the actual jpg here? I have it on my computer but do not see a way to add the file.
-
It was recorded at D1 on my Avermedia not CIF.

Yes, cctv cameras are behind. Cameras on cell phones are taking better pictures than a dedicated cctv camera. Unless you want to spend big money on a 2-3mp camera you will end up with mediocre image quality. You can buy a dslr with 10mp for a lot cheaper than the price of a 2-3mp cctv camera. Bank robberies and theft footage is almost useless for facial identification with 95% of the cameras out there. I had a robbery on my street and I could not even make the model/color of the car out. The car was about 40-50 feet away from my camera: http://i792.photobucket.com/albums/yy204/alschmid/15.jpg There were some water spots on this camera, but I still would not be able to tell. You can see the pixelation in this still which was pulled directly from the dvr.

When I snap a single camera picture or am viewing live on my monitor I see the same. I guess I am being too critical of the cameras for the price range. I may have to sell them and look for better image quality. I grew up doing photography work and look at picture quality closely. They are sensitive to low light which is a plus.

Full D1: 720 x 480/720 x 576 (NTSC/PAL) This is what the 1304 records in.

Mine started to flicker and went gray screen when it went bad. Surveillance video sent me a new one. It could be my dvr, but it is recording at D1 (Avermedia EB1304). The last picture in the other CNB thread also shows the broken/not smooth line transitions that I am also seeing: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=21952&start=60. Almost looks too digital.
-
I have tried default settings and changing them. They actually look a little better changing the defaults. The main thing I notice about these are the lines of objects appear broken and not smooth/linear like pixelation. I can see the same in Rory's pictures (look at the straight lines and lines of the cars). I did not notice this with my other cameras. Must be the chipset that is causing this. In bright light, the matter just gets worse.

The CNB's may be slightly more sensitive to low light, but I think there is more pixelation during the day. I still have one of my old 540tvl cameras and am thinking of taking a night comparison/day comparison snap. The CNB's required IR for my application, because it is very dark on the sides of my house. They do respond nicely to external IR, but I am not that impressed with the day image.

Caution when buying from Surveillance-Video.com

I ordered my CNB's from them(SV). They had a good price. I recently had a camera go gray and sent it back for repair. Been there for a while. Called to check on it and they said they are sending me a new camera. -

How about a high quality aftermarket lens for a cnb vbm-24vf? Does anybody make one that will be a direct fit with faster and higher quality glass?

Hybrid Solution for High res IP and CNB
bantham1 replied to bantham1's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
What would be the approximate total cost for this conversion? I want to convert but want to go the best way for the price. I plan on adding slowly over the years but do not want to get a limited system (limited by megapixels). I do not have a powerful computer to hook it up to so I will have to have some external storage device. How about acti? do the have hybrid decoders? -
Hybrid Solution for High res IP and CNB

I am thinking of adding 1 or 2 IP cams to my system. I have 4 CNB mona lisa cams which seem to be great in low light and decent during the day. Which recorder has the best processor to handle 2 3-5mp IP cams? I see avermedia has one, but it is only good for one high res camera. Probably do not need more than 8-16 camera setup as this is residential. -
Hybrid Solution for High res IP and CNB

2 ip cameras 3-5 mega pixels. -
I am thinking of converting to ip cameras. I will need 4 cameras with good night resolution. I have 2 external IR illuminators currently installed. I have an avermedia EB1304 and 4 CNB mona lisa domes. The current system seems to be working ok, but I would like higher resolution. Will the ACM-1231's be worth the upgrade? I am assuming I will have to find another dvr/nvr to work. I see avermedia has a new "mini" out for IP, but cannot find a price for it. What are the approximate other costs for converting to IP, such as POE switch, cable etc.

I have 4 CNB VBM-24VF mona lisa cameras and 1 Avermedia EB1304 NET DVR. The Avermedia has a 500 meg HD installed and is capable of D1 recording resolution. Cameras are in excellent condition and I have 3 of the original boxes. All you will need is the power supply (I also have an 18ch UL listed power supply for sale with 18amp of available power if needed) and cable (I have 500 feet of Paige RG59 plenum 18/2 coax that will need new twist on end connectors and has been cut into 2 equal length long sections and 2 equal length smaller sections) and external monitor for viewing(none for sale). Asking 1350 for everything and 1100 if you don't need the cable or power supply. PM for payment info.
