imaginative ways to hide a DVR , WHATS YOURS ????
toolman67 replied to toolman67's topic in General Digital Discussion
hello , a little help and ideas required .. the brief is ..... A 8CH DVR (X) connected to 4 cams with Lan and IP, dyndns etc , we want to connect another 4CH DVR (Y) to the above ....but it is about 200 mtrs away , and not in line of sight, cannot throw a cable as the blocks are at right angles to each other over public roads .. is there some way to connect DVR (X) TO DVR (Y) through wi fi ? MY IDEA was to connect LAN PORT of DVR (Y) to a WIFI access point and have that access point connect to the LAN of DVR(X) and hence connect all the channels together ..?? any other possibility ? would like to have some ideas feedback if any has had such a situation and resolved the same ? regd Toolman67 -

sir some of the newer models do come with a wall mounting fitting so the DVR can be wall mounted , if not , as I have been doing I attach Photo frame hooks/mounts to the dvr and set it up onto the wall , it all depends on the availability of space , and type of installation. regds Toolman67 -
dont wanna view hours of recording & playback ... ..
toolman67 replied to toolman67's topic in General Digital Discussion
thanks for the advise yes Motion detection is enabled and as you say there are lots of false alerts, so I have to search the files that pertain to motion alarms, we keep it mostly on real time recording so they turn out large files .... i like yure Idea of charging the client but , since I mostly do it from home /control room via the net I really cannot charge for hours spent, ideally am now looking at intrusion detection devices that would trigger an alarm that would trigger a recording of that area .... keep u posted regds Toolman67 -

hi thnks fr the reply it IS the generic model for Dahua Dvr LS series , and it has a page FOR FTP setup., but how to use it ? I want it to record simultaneously . Onboard HDD as well as off site to another usb HDD OR COMPUTER on our Lan network the idea is in case the dvr is hacked /tampered with our the HDD fails or is erased we can have a mirror of the data on the off site HDD .... REGDS TOOLMAN67 -

as long as you have the same platform DVR you can do wht you want , Ivms 4500 is for Hikvision Android platform Gdmss is for Dahua android platform Iphone / ipad work for Dvr platform as specified by respt dvr most dvr regardless of the brand have a Company specific app for every platform, given with software CD or can be downloaded from their web site CMS software will again enable you to watch different DVR's of the same platform as above mentd logic for eg , I have a 40' TFT Screen which displays a CMS (dahua ) screens on Input one , this shows me around 45 screens of about 15 DVR's all installed by me , I always can whk why a dvr wont display or if there is an issue with connectivity ....... is this what yure looking for ?? regds Toolman67

I have hidden Dvr's behind the viewing monitor, also hidden Dvr's inside a OLD CPU Box, inside an old Tv cabinet , behind a wall clock WHATS YOUR MOST IMAGINATIVE WAY TO CONCEAL A DVR FROM SNATCH N GRAB OR THEFT ?? use yure imagination ,OR give us case examples .... regds Toolman67 -
hi one is only limited by ones' imagination ... I have hidden Dvr's behind the viewing monitor , the DVR mounts to the wall and the monitor mounts onto the dvr ... looks neat and difficult to find the dvr , unless u know where it was also hidden Dvr's inside a OLD CPU Box, I think its an ideal disguise as it blends in with the other office equipment, inside an old Tv cabinet , why in the world ..?, I dont know but done as per client request .... one other method can also be backing up data OFFSITE to another HDD in RAID config on the network that way if the DVR is stolen or there is a HDD failure then the data is always available OFF SITE .. THAT SAVED my bacon once ..!! use yure imagination , if fact this deserves a thread of it own.... regds Toolman67

HELLO to All As a CCTV installer recently had a query frm a client and was hoping some one here could answer the same , as my tag line says always willing to learn something new... as has been my past experience whenever I have been asked to review recorded footage to view any incident or activity, I have to troll through hours and hours of footage muliplied by the nos of cameras to find these incidents and D/L for incident reports and such like .... now my question is.. .! is there any Software or DVR that would record only the incident or activity or send an alert /sms/beeper buzzer so that I cld directly target the said activity recorded and d/l the same without having to scans hours of recording ??? I am aware of setting motion detection to partly achieve this, but am not happy with the sensitivity as it is prone to false alerts ........ been there done that ....... I was thinking something like a graph pattern indicator which would spike on detecting an incident or activity , so that I would only have to chk that day/date time of said activity .... I would appreciate any disscussion /feedback/ ideas /apps - if any exist .... if any such software/app/dvr exists , it would really hellp ... look forward from hearing from you guys .. best regds toolman67 De-tech security systems Goa -

hi Firstly most dvr 's come out of the box with a Local IP preset, you HAVE to change that to match yure Local RANGE , once done you shld be able to see yure Login screen on yure network (after disabling active X etc etc ) ...... NOW , YES some of the newer Chinese DVR'S also COMING witha DYNAMIC IP fixed as default, but and I say again BUT .. be careful be very careful ..... that option can be dangerous ... let me tell u how .... their DEFAULT IP dyndns host address is HOSTED on their HOST/DOMAIN and as we all know, can be risky as they can access/ interfere / probe yure Network/ computers/dvrs through this method... I DON'T SAY THAT THEY ARE DOING IT , BUT recently when setting up one such DVR i kept getting a MALWARE/TROJAN ALERT repeatly when the DVR WAS CONNECTED , as soon as we DISCONNECTED the DVR from the NET AND RAN IT on its OWN the alerts stopped .... also we changed the dyndns to our regular site and the alerts went away completely .. has anyone else experienced this also ? pls share thanks and HEED this warning : DONT USE ANY DEFAULT SETTINGS ,OUT OF THE BOX , PLS USE YOUR OWN TRUSTED SITE /DOMAINS FOR HOSTING REgds Toolman67 -
hi , yes I have had a similar problem, that i solved with my local glass /frame maker , he had a cutter on a circular holder , much like a naval protractor and cut me a round glass of my required dia in a jiffy , so fast that I asked him to make me another , pity though about the IR -bleed cover , that is irreplaceable, but again appling my mind I had retrived it from the shattered glass , trimmed it a little and placed it on the IR board ... worked good as new , and I'm happy to say , after a year or so , there has been no issues with it , even during the monsoon conditions... regd toolman /~
