I am recording @ 720x480 and it is using MPEG 4. Will reformatting the DVR require me to reset all the settings for the cameras, or loose the OS? Thanks for the help!

Hi, I have a Unix HQ-4D DVR w/ a 1T HDD. I have it set to record 24/7 realtime, all quality settings on high and to auto record over data when it runs out of room. I tried to archive some footage from about a week ago, but the DVR won't let me look at any video past 4 days old (it has been overwritten I guess). How many days of recording should I be able to get out of a 1T HDD when all settings are on continuous high/realtime? The only thing that was weird that happened about a week ago, was one day I was watching the display, and all of a sudden if went out of record mode and a box came up stating that it was checking the HD integrity or something, then went back into record mode. I contacted tech support, and they said it could be a bad sector in the HD so to reformat it and see if it helps. However, he did not know how long it would take to reformat the 1T HD. So, before I start the reformat, how long will the whole process take? Will it take a few hours or days? Thanks for the help!

I checked through the viewer player like you mentioned and found the save/load button to create pics. Thanks for the help!

I would rather not post the footage for privacy reasons. Is there anyway to basically pause the video and create a still pic? Thanks.

Hello, I have a DVST HQ-4D DVR that I am able to archive video footage to a DVD or USB storage device... I have some footage that I would like to create some still images from, and even possibly enlarge (as much as possible). Is this possible, and what is the best method to have this done (software or video specialist)? Thank you!

Actually I was genuinely curious. This is my third bid (first two had very limited equipment and couldn't meet my needs). I also don't have many choices for installers where I live. When I went online to check out the camera specs I found some prices and wondered why they were so low compared to the same thing on the bid. I have no problem paying for quality service and products. I just wanted to make sure that this is normal before I make a decision. Again, thanks for the help.

Hey guys, What is the norm for cctv installers when it comes to marking up the price on gear they install? I received a quote from an installer, that lists prices for each item significantly higher than I can find online. For example, a camera that I have seen online for $360 is being quoted to me at $840

In the coldest part of winter it could get in the low teens for only a few days. This cam will be mounted on a porch, so it won't totally be out in the elements. Thank you!

Hey all, Does anyone here have any experience with UNIX CCTV Corp IR 5800FV cam? Would this be a good choice for an outdoor cam ( a little snow/cold temps/hot summers), or should I go with something with a heater/fan? Thanks!
