Hotel Reception setup (pictures inside)
koolmer replied to koolmer's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
It has about the same price as the Panasonic IP WDR Dome. I could go for it and demand the money from the Hotel. I can say that it is the only camera that will do the job well, but I have to be sure! Have you tested any IP WDR camera? Have you tested this specific model? -

Ok so the IP WDR cam cost 1000$ - I don't know if I would be able to get that from the Hotel. It's really pricey. The analogue WDR Dome from Panasonic seems real nice, but the lenses! there are only two lens options: 2.2 mm fixed or 15 - 50 mm varifocal! This is really poor - maybe the 2.2 mm lens would work, but have to measure first. Does anyone know a good lens calculator? Something where I could input these 2.2 mm and calculate the distance that the camera needs to the doors and the windows to get the right FOV? Thanks -

That sounds good! What about Software? Is it included? As I said, it's mainly for recording evidence. Netvision doesn't support Panasonic IP cameras @Soundy I will also check this one out. Any other suggestion? -

That sounds good. I have not heard much about Sanyo in the IP market though. Have you tested it yourself also with strong backlight? What about the Software? I know it is not supported by Netvision. Does it have some Software included? This camera is mainly for recording and evidence - no need to be displayed anywhere. -
I will get one of those. Thank you!

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I am daisy-chaining them and the distance is approx. 900 meters in total. Termination is switched off on all cameras except for the last one of course. Will these amplifiers work with any RS-485 or are they limited to the protocol of the manufacturer?

Kalatel KTD-404 connection pin out
koolmer replied to koolmer's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
Just in case somebody encounters the same problem: I figured it out. I had to open the unit and measure until I found where to connect what. -
Hi everybody, I just bought a KTD-404. Unfortunately it doesn't have the connection box with it and I don't know which cable belongs where. In the manual it only says how to connect to the connection box. This is the picture in the manual: Does anyone know which pin on the controller is for what? I will have to make my own cconnection box & cable. koolmer

Does Skyvision still exist? Free Hikvision Software?
koolmer replied to koolmer's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
No I haven't tried it. I thought it was just the Client program that doesn't actually record, but only accesses the pictures over the Network. Did I get that right? Does it look any different than the server Software? -

Face recognition Software
koolmer replied to koolmer's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Thanks for the link. Does anyone have experiance with this Software or another one that does face recognition? -
Does reliable Face recognition Software exist? Let's say I have several people and I want to be alerted when they show up - even when the guy watching the screens has not noticed anything or doesn't have his attention on the camera. koolmer

Linovision http://www.linovision.com/ does Linux DVR Software for Hikvision cards and also sells the Software bundled with a card. I haven't tried it myself though. If you need IR or not, really depends on the amount of light that you have. You are not very specific on that. I don't recommend cameras with build in IR, I have had trouble with them very often. If you need IR, get a separate IR illuminator. I must say that your post is a bit confusing. What do you mean by "level 2", "level 1" etc. You should give more data + space plan or at least a rough drawing of the space. It is hard to help if one has no idea how the space looks like. koolmer

DVR Software on multiple screens in 1080p
koolmer posted a topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Hi All, I am looking for a DVR Software (preferably for Hikvision cards) that can use multiple screens in 1080p. I want to use DVR cards to digitalize my 50 analogue cameras and then display them on four 32" screens. The plan is to put four Hikvision H.264 real time DVR cards into two servers. The servers are then accessed by a Client computer that has access to all 64 cameras. The Client has four 32" 1080p screens connected to it to display the cameras live. Now I need a DVR Software that is able to do that. It must support multiple screens (at least two, I can also use two Client computers) and support a resolution of 1920x1080. Does anyone know a Software that can do that? -koolmer P.S. IP camera support would also be nice. -
CyberDome RS-422 protocol & DVR Software
koolmer replied to koolmer's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
The program "PTZ Controller" doesn't support Kalatel protocol. Skyvision & Netvision don't do it either. Looks like my only choice is a KTD-313 or get a KTD-405. -
CyberDome RS-422 protocol & DVR Software
koolmer posted a topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
Hi, I have a GE CyberDome. The old one, not CyberDome 2. I think it only supports the Kalatel RS-422 protocol. Somehow I need to control it with my DVR Software. Currently I am using Skyvision and it supports several protocols, but not Kalatel. I have also tried Netvision trial, but also Netvision doesn't support Kalatel protocol. Is it possible to add a protocol somehow in Skyvision? If not, is the CyberDome able to take any other protocol than Kalatel? I know there is a converter (KTD-313), but I would prefer to not use one. koolmer -
CyberDome RS-422 protocol & DVR Software
koolmer replied to koolmer's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
I think my CyberDome doesn't support Pelco protocols - at least I have never seen any info about it. I also googled it already. I will try the tool - thanks for the link! koolmer -
I actually never heard about D-WDR or Digital WDR. I googled for it and only found some fishy Asian cams with D-WDR. Could be a cheap "enhancement" of the dynamic range. I wouldn't touch it. Buy real WDR cams from Pelco, Samsung, Bosch, etc. koolmer

Does Skyvision still exist? Free Hikvision Software?
koolmer replied to koolmer's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Why do you say that? There is very good open source Software existing. Open Office, Firefox, Thunderbird, etc. I use all this Software and it is often even better than the Software that costs money. I thought that there might be something like that for CCTV as well. If it doesn't exist yet, I am sure it will come in the future. I have to get to the site to check what version I have currently, but I am pretty sure it is an older one. It is running very badly with constant lags, smart search is for sh... , motion detection is unprecise and it freezes about once a day completely. -
IP cameras and market pricing
koolmer replied to CCTV_Suppliers's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I am looking for a D/N cam with 2MP. Hikvision doesn't have D/N cams on their Website and all MP cams they have are 1/3" and I guess thats a disadvantage in low light. How about the new ones? btw. 500 posts! Congratulations! -
IP cameras and market pricing
koolmer replied to CCTV_Suppliers's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Low light is also my main concern. I have a site with a hybrid system, but no IP cam yet. The idea was to put a 2MP cam at the reception, but the light at night is pretty low. It's only street lights coming through the (big) windows. The analog Day/Night camera has no problem making a clear B/W image at night, but I wonder how a 2MP camera would do. Any input on this? -
Extreme interference with active baluns
koolmer replied to koolmer's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
Alright. Problem solved!!! So - here is the end of the story: I had installed the active receiver in the middle of the cable pull and after the active receiver I again used a pair of passive baluns for the remaining 100m. The picture got better, but still some interference left. I mentioned before that the camera cable is running next to 230VAC cable for about 4m and this cannot be avoided. The power supply of my camera controller (Ktd-405) was plugged into the outlet at the end of this 230VAC cable (besides other equipment of course). Last week the controller failed and I traced it down to the power supply. It was a switchmode power supply, getting very hot. The moment I plugged it out from the outlet the image on the screen was PERFECT. So somehow this PSU has induced interference into the 230VAC cable which then affected the camera cable and caused the noise in the picture. I have learned my lesson, but I really didn't expect that! koolmer -
Extreme interference with active baluns
koolmer posted a topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
Hi All, I have a problem at a Warehouse. The screen is about 300 meters away from the DVR. First I used passive GE baluns. There was some noise and interference, but it was not horrible. I then got an active receiver, which made the picture clearer - not perfect. After a few weeks I noticed that the picture had a lot of interference. I have not changed anything, but there was so much interference (hum bars, very grainy picture) that I had to change something immediately. I got an active transmitter and installed it at the DVR. I read the manual, tried all the different settings, but the picture got even worse after having installed the active transmitter. I then removed both active baluns and tried the passive GE ones again. The picture is still bad, but at least I can see something. It was better than with the active receiver and definately a lot better than with active receiver + active transmitter. I know that the cat5 goes along with 230VAC cable in some places, but I am not sure if this is the reason for the extreme interference that I am getting. Also the sudden change doesn't make any sense to me. Any idea how to fix? I would prefer not to pull new cable, because it is really hard in this warehouse. -
DVR Card and Software Advice
koolmer replied to LQ1985's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Usually there is always Software delivered together with the card. You have to check the Website if the Software fits your needs or simply call them. I have never used remote viewing on a cell phone, but many Softwares do support that.
