Any advise on how to avoid image "bending"
crirvine replied to mfennell's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Its called fisheye and it happens from using a wide lense 2.0 2.2 2.8 As stated use a longer lense 6mm 8mm 12mm ect and move the camera further away from the wall -
Use telco drive rings makes the job look nice and keeps the wire out of the way of others in the attic.

CT it is like this a twist on will work fine for if you put no strain on it. I am a crimp on type person I have my own RF Industries crimpers with interchangable dies $250.00 Plus extra dies for 2way radio connectors and I don't think it would be wise money for crimpers for a 1 time job. If you do not have crimpers then crimp on connectors are out of the question because if you use anything else to crimp the connector then the crimp and spacing is off making for a bad connector. So you can use twist on's with no problem.

Eyemax DV9120 No Video
crirvine replied to bruin8uclap's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Glad that worked out for you if this is on the dvr I have not seen this before so lets try a few things that work when connecting with a remote computer. Get to the windows desktop and right click in the screen goto PROPERTIES SETTINGS ADVANCE TROUBLESHOOT and slide the hardware acceration to about halfway and click ok. This also has to be a intel chipset and intel video or ATI these are the only 2 video fomats that seem to work without any problems. Try try this and see if it works and let me know as I will try to make a dvr on my test bench do this same problem and see what happens. -

I need more information in order to try to help. 1. Do you see video while in control or status? 2. Do you have the admin password? 3. Have you ever seen video in search? -
Never used it but it might be worth looking into. http://www.getbroadband.com/?gclid=CLC9gJjYtZACFQ66PAodjCjiMg

DVR Graphic User Interface's
crirvine replied to a topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
The Software comes with each brand of DVR card. The software only runs on the type DVR card it comes with. Sorry not changeable from card to card. -
bruin8uclap Why do you want to erase video the dvr will rewrite over the old video when the drive gets full. Have you called the dealer you bought this system from? Now that you have erase the data drive you will have to reset the drive for use with video. 1. Look in the folder on the start menu. 2. Pick the program dvr file system. 3. Double click the data drive only not C: Boot Drive these must be kept seperated (NO VIDEO ON BOOT DRIVE) 4. Choose quick init. 5. Reboot System As I said before there is no reason to ever delete video from the system.

WLAN is the internet connection on the routers we use. I also have 16 channel mpeg4 units working on T1's at 1.5 meg and it gets a little slugish when all 16 channels see a lot of motion at the same time. So the question I have is why do you need 16 realtime channels running? Not knowing where these go BANK or some other HIGH RISK location this may not be in your budget. 1 meg upstream per camera sounds way to high to me I have not seen that bandwidth used even with 30 frames and Highest Settings not sure where this dealer got his numbers from but I have only worked with 2 GEOVISIONS both less than version 7 and they were not that band hungry. I also have a customer running 16 channels 7 frames per second with 2 audio channels working on 512k upstream at Low Resolution with no problems. What I think you need to do is look at a local system with a known upstream speed and resolution and see what you can get to work with the speed you can afford to work with and design a system around your budget and bandwidth.

The type of dvr is up to you. But the answer to your question is this 4k per frame X 25 = 100k X 16 = 1.6 meg upstream and that is faster than a T1 & 1.5 meg up stream and 1.5 meg down stream. Depending on where you are at the internet cost will be $1000.00 a month or more just for you internet connection. You need to look at your budget what you can afford what you need to see if the video quality goes up so does the size of the frame size so know you hace a little more information to work with,

To make this simple as possible low end dvrs with 200 gig storage 4 cams with motion turned on store hours 14 hours a day save about 3 weeks of video. So using 20 gig drives how many hours do you you think you will save? Also used hard drives will not live long in a dvr running all the time and the heat that builds up in the case due to lack of power supply for proper cooling. So with that being said why try to save money by risking loosing video. You get what you pay for in this market security companies do this for a living and know how to build and install systems that meet your needs. Are you wanting to view this system over the internet or a network budget dvrs do not offer this option, do you want to view your recorded video while the system keeps recording soory budget dvrs do not offer this option either. The basic starter dvr that offers these are going to be in the $1000.00 and up price range.

safe-core DVR400M hardware/software problem
crirvine replied to petlump's topic in Digital Video Recorders
This is the problem with most budget priced DVR's you can only do one thing at a time (record , view , setup). What you are wanting is a mode called triplex which allows multiple this done at the same time. It is sad that people buy or sell without finding out what the customer needs are first. -
How does this system look? Can you sell me a cheaper one?
crirvine replied to Snow_death's topic in Security Cameras
That is a clone card we do not support clones in the forum. A good starter 4 channel card cost more than you list as a buget for you system. E-Bay is not the place to buy a system also do you speak chinese if not you will have a problem with tech support. Sorry for the bad news. -

crirvine replied to coolcut's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
seller of the card who supplied trial version of software is not traceble. Does that mean you bought the card on E-Bay? -
A good non clone card with the specs you are looking for are going for a retail price that will be close to $ ####.## thats right. Please do your self a favor and buy a good quality card with good support not some cheap clone.

Manufacturer info required.
crirvine replied to guvnaar's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
E-Bay DVR cards = 99.9% clone and clone cards are not supported in our forum. A true 100% card (non clone) cost several times more than the Clone cards. You also get 100% dealer and factory support. -

Time Lapse VCR Problems
crirvine replied to LPDetective's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Sounds like you need to update your system VHS is a thing of the past with security dealers and wholesalers no longer stocking these or parts. Multiplexers are also on the thin list and way over priced they cost as much as entry level dvr's. A good triplex dvr will let you view and record at the sametime and save to cd. You also need to check your local state laws on cctv license as you may be required to become licensed to install new or replace old equipment plus the personal privency laws that me or may not be broken that you could be held liable for. -

cat5 wire is not for power the wire is to small which leads to a big voltage drop. Think about trying to start your car with telephone wire. The longer the wire and the more the amp draw the bigger the power wire needs to be. -
Eyemax Dvr remote client for 9120
crirvine replied to acebigelow's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Are you and your boss using administrator rights if so why? You only need to be using administrator to setup the unit. Also 2 admins can not log on at the same time. Is this a dealer bought unit or self built. I have 60 to 80 of these same type dvrs with only our shop having admin rights with no problems. These are very stable units if setup by a tech that has been to a class tought by factory trained techs. You should never have to reload the software. What version card and what version software are you using and where did you get the unit. -
you also have to install activex controls windows xp only windows vista will not work plus you have to setup zonealarm

PC Based DVR, How many conncetion simultaneity one channel?
crirvine replied to sas123's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
netdvr it also depends on bandwidth local connection or over the internet -
No the strikes will not work with dead bolts they must be used with a standard door that will lock from the inside. You will also need to meet NFPA CODE 101 for egress. All doors will have to have auto request to exit or be opened with one hand or break bar that opens no longer than 15 seconds and unlock by the FIRE ALARM ACTIVATION. PLEASE PEOPLE READ AND KNOW THE CODES BEFORE BIDDING OR DOING ACCESS CONTROL. IF CODE IS NOT FOLLOWED AND SOMETHING HAPPENS YOU WILL BE HELD LIABLE FOR YOUR ACTIONS. This is not directed at anyone but just a notice for those new or DO IT YOURSELF people. I have worked in the Fire Service (24 years) and the Alarm Service (20 years) and see things all the time done cheap or just to make a quick buck. It is not cheap to do jobs buy code but lives are saved when jobs done by code.
