    Magic Radar 16ch

At best you might can run 3.5.2.2 but getting rid of all the new drivers will be tuff. If you are not that dvr savy I say you might think about format and reinstall windows xp. A little more info will help ? 1. Prossesser type speed? P4 P4D Cel Cel D 2. Ram Size and Speed? 3. Motherboard brand model? 4. Chipset? 5. Hard Drive Info? 6. Video card if any?
  2. You tell me the unit serial number and I can help you all eyemax have a sticker on computer case that is the unit serial nunber of the unit. With out the serial number I cannot help you.
  3. Call your eyemax dealer they will provide you with one. This has happened due to the fact that people were buying clone cards and using their software. Also on the case of your DVR is a serial number you will need this to get the software.

WebDVR not accessible outside of network

Webdvr requires you to make the ip address a trusted site. windows explorer will never let you connect to the dvr if it is not trusted.

    GV-800 with media center pc

It should work but is this PC going to used just for a DVR DVR's do not like to do 2 things at the same time. If you want a PC and a DVR then run 2 computers. Nothing like crashing your DVR running other programs when you need it the most.

    CCTV cable toner/tracer

I use 2 differant tools 1. TRIPLETT WireMaster XR-5 tests bnc, rj 11, rj 45, usb, and firewire. If my coax checks bad I use a TRIPLETT 3271 TDR CABLE FAULT FINDER to tell me the distance to the open or short on the tested wire. Both of these will run $400.00 to $600.00 at ADI. Also the TDR checks all types of wire so I use it to check alarm runs also. Have you ever looked for a open or short on 600 foot of wire. This will tell you in feet in seconds then you go that distance and find the problem and I have never been off over a few feet. http://www.triplett.com/ and look at Specialty Testers for the specs
  8. Were are you located and what size system are you looking for? 1. How many camera's? 2. How many frames per second? 3. How much storage space? 4. Desktop case or Tower case?
  9. Can not tell if it is a pci x problem as I have not used one yet. I only us motherboards with intel chipsets and or ati 7000 9000 9250 video cards on the remote computers. I am interested to see how this works out.

  11. Sounds like Magic Radar , Eyemax , type capture card and most verisons are at 4.5.0.0 now. The reomote computer needs to be run in 800 by 600 and run ATI video card or intel chipset also slow down hardware acceleration in the video properties to the middle or bottem setting also 32 meg or 64 meg video mem will help.

    Anyone heard of this DVR?

I have seen the ChateauX Pro before it is an ADT dvr . I did an install for a local college for remote monitoring for testing. It was sent to the college by the remote testing company for the college to install all the boxes had ADT Honeywell on the boxes and looks to be a GEOVISION clone.

    software magic radar

You can get both from the place you bought the unit from. The dealers have the user manuals and the software updates.

    Poor motion detection

One thing is what frame rate are you using and how fast are the cars moving. That is going to be a hard thing to do cars moving at 35 miles per hour are moving several feet per second and to see a good shot of the car you are going to have to run max frames per second. This I have learned from playing with our dvr's in the office to learn new tricks. I have setup a camera with 100 foot field of view cars moving at 35 mph dvr at 30 fps i get 3 to 4 frames at best.
  16. Sounds like the software is doing what it should be doing. A DVR is just that it does not need to do anything else as it only needs to do the DVR work. Just like all the DVR's we put in.

    Questions about licensing

It depends on the state that you work in Tenn ARK Miss MO yes you have to be.
  19. The PC you have if I am not mistaken will run a GEOVISION system most other DVR's do not work unless you are running INTEL based systems (INTEL PROSSESER and INTEL MOTHERBOARD CHIP SETS) and ATI video cards. Others here might have a few more options for you but the thing you have learned is copy cat cards and copy cat software is just that buggy and not full of features. Hope this helps

    dvr suggestions.

Jeff I understand you are hung up on 30fps very few ever need that a time laps recorder running in 24 hour mode is around 6-8fps. Not seeing the install I can't see the need to shorten the storage time of the dvr. Now to answer your question on live recording. Not all dvr's are the same and you need to read the specs some 4 channel do 30fps record and 30fps veiw at the same time while others do 120fps record and 120fps view and then there are the ones that can only work like a vcr record or view not both at the same time

    dvr suggestions.

Rory not to mention the possibilty of 120 frames per sec 30fps x 4. If it is over the internet that is going to tax bandwith out of the water or if it is over a LAN it could be an IT's nightmare. Just did not see anybody bring this up in this post. I have seen 7fps x 16 channels eat up a cable broadband connection. Not all people need 30fps most time 6-8 work great. If you look at 30fps @ 4k files thats 120k per camera times the possibilty of 4 cameras thats 480k most broadband connections are 256k.
  22. I have a friend that bought a used cctv system. The system is a low end 9 to 10 year old system that uses ps2 cable 6 conductor for power audio video in the same jacket. She wants to record the video but has no way to connect the camera to her timelaps recorder which uses bnc. I told her the only way I know is to cut the cable find power supplied from the monitor find audio line from camera and find the video from the camera. But she was opposed to cutting the factory cable but still wants to hook the recorder. Anybody know anything about these systems or have used one before or find adapters for the above system. If not I will try to convert her to more conventional equipment. BNC connector on the camera, and BNC connector on the monitor. THANKS

    Sentry CCTV

Thanks Colin as from talking to her it was a kit like setup. It has 4 ps2 inputs on the back of the monitor and on the front of the monitor you can select cam 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or see a quad view there is no other connector on tje back of the monitor to goto or return from a timelaps recorder. She works again this weekend so I can talk to her again. Thanks
