The answer is no you must use the software that comes with the dvr cards other wise it is reverse engineering the software and hardware and that breaks the user agreement.

Please folks for this system to work you have to have an intell cpu , intell graphics or ati ; sometimes you have to turn down graphics hardware acceration do about 1/2 or you get no video. As always what version dvr software are you running where did you get the dvr I have over 100 of this type dvr in the field with no problems. 1. What version dvr software? 2. Where did you get the dvr? 3. Did you buy it or build it? 4. Who old is it?

The eyemax software is only compatable with windows 2000 pro ; windows xp home ; windows xp pro ; only so if it is running anything other than those 3 operating systems there is no factory support and I do not what or how they got it to run like that I have no idea. But it takes windows os to make it work as a server for remote veiwing. Sorry I have no other advise for you.

Even through the web browser you need to forward ports 9091--9120 in the router to the dvr address then you need to download activex from the dvr before it will let you log in A TIP IS THE VIDEO SCRENE IN THE WEB BROWSER HAS TO BE BLACK NOT BLUE BEFORE IT WILL LET YOU LOG IN.

wisdum you still have not told us what version 9240 you have? did you build it or buy it? and you have to have activex drivers installed for the web browser also. and you have to port forward the 9000 ports in the router also.

I am confused I have 30 in the field right now with no problems. My customers are very happy with this product. I tested them in our office for 1 month before putting any in the field. I have no problem seeing the grass in the yard as green in little light (moon light) I see cats walking around the building in real time not delayed or frozen. I am not sure where you bought your cameras from but I do not have the same probems you are listing here.

You need to sit down and write one out with what type of equipment you are using and what you want to be done.

Look at the power supply for this camera. When the picture goes black what is the voltage at the power supply what is the voltage at the camera how muck current is the camera pulling.

I guess thats how you like your doctors lawyers and other professionals you deal with. When you do your walk through with the customer on the sales call how can you put the proper equipment in to ge the coverage the customer wants matching camera lux with the proper lense for the distance and field of view. Let me guess you stayed in a Holiday Inn Express so you know the answers without having any formal training. It sounds like you have interferance from your wireless. 1. If you can with without to much trouble move the camera's to the dvr and see if they will work hardwired. If that works try adding the wireless one at a time and see where it quits working. You also might try seprating the receivers 4 to 5 feet apart, receivers have rf ossilators and they will transmitt a signal and could be the problem. 2. If it does not work hardwired let us know it might be a video setting. Also what are the pc specs. motherboard cpu video card and settings if you know.

You get what you pay for. If you are just learning you need the best education you can buy. Little by little all states are going to require you to be licened to work in the CCTV , SECURITY AND ACCESS CONTROL industry. So knowing the accepted way , the law , and how and why things work would be in your best intrest at this early stage.

We are using a new speco camera for day night that is from the intensifier line sees color in very low light, they come in bullet , dome or box style , you can get a capture card for the pc as long as the pc has an intel chip set , intel cpu , and ati video , geovision would be good but higher priced , eyemax or isis would be a good mid priced card , please just do not buy from ebay as most cards and software are clones and do not work stable or at all. You can do a search on the internet or use a dealer close to you from this site but please do not support the clone market 9 camera's 7 to 8 fps on motion 500 gig storage 60% usage you are looking at 60 to 90 days or more (just a ruff estimate).

A good home security system is in that average price and thats good you have got part of the system done and I see nothing wrong with you doing the work yourself at home what we are saying is do not waste your money on a budget system hardware. Just do your home work and buy name brand equipment for example sony chip does not mean sony camera. You are doing the right thing by getting good advise before wasting money because you do not get what you wanted. The 10% is a rule of thumb total door locks, security system, fire safe, ect. not 10% just for cctv. I was at a home and lawn show and they were using the 10% rule for the yard mulch, flowers, shurbs, ect. But just buy quality camera's, dvr and good coax and you will have a system that will do the job you expect.

If you alter any softeare you do not own it is aganist the law. When you pay for a dvr card and software you only pay to use the software it is still the property of the writer. I would very carefull and not even mention that I would try something like that. You could end up with strangers knocking on your door.

Steve if you buy from costco you get just that a low budget system. Now from your post (seeing facial detail and maybe a license plate from 50 feet would be nice) to get this one camera will cost more than the costco system will cost you plus those are not over the shef camera's. Cities spend thousands of dollars per camera for camera's at red lights to get license plates and face detail. THE QUESTION I WOULD LIKE TO ASK YOU IS WOULD YOU BUY INSURANCE FOR ONLY ONE TENTH THE VALUE OF YOUR HOME? That is what the standard is for security 1/10th the protected property.

Sir I am sorry for your loss but I am in the Security Industry and do not like the clone market any better than you but unlike you this is how I make my living and can not and will not put myself of my Security Company in a lawsuit and loss of dealership and state liensee. I am sorry you find me unhelpfull but I can not give you software. You failed to mention your other problems (DEALER) but the software only comes with the card when it is bought. You attitude will also make others not willing to help. With all the clone cards on the market we need to make sure you have a original card. Tell us where you bought the card?
