New PC Build CCTV System
crirvine replied to cctME's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
The 1st thing you will need to do is choose the the brand capture card that fits your requirments. The next thing you need to do is choose how many inputs you need. Then you need to read the specs for the dvr card cpu video motherboard then how long do you want to store the video? After all that is done find you a dealer that will give you support 99% of all cards bought on e-bay are clones and no support so please find a dealer that will give you support. -
The only help we can give you is to contact the company you bought the card from. DVR's will only work with the brand software that came with the system. You can not use software from one DVR maker on another brand DVR. When you say does not work very well what are the problems you are have? System crashing? Slow or choppy remote video? Bad or not clear pictures?

Avoid asking for password and username by Avermedia 1304NET
crirvine replied to tonnymathieu's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Not sure you will find a product that will work that way as most DVR's are installed for security reasons and codes and passwords are the standard. As stated it only takes a short time to enter user and password. -
Remote Software Freezes after 15 min of streaming video.
crirvine replied to gexamb's topic in Computers/Networking
Glad you are have some luck now with the system. As a rule of thumb most not all but most will only work with ATI or INTEL video. Most GeForce video cards and AMD cpu's are not DVR friendley. Just post if more information is needed. -
DVR Card Recommendation
crirvine replied to fran4383's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Mr. Kingwood I will not carry this subjuct any further if you read what I said and that is how long I have been using the products NOT the last time I tried anything new. I have tried substandard equipment and was not impressed AND THIS HAS BEEN IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS. Like I said I am not going to respond to this as it does not merit my time. If you have a better product it will bought and used. You showed up asking for help with a geovision support problem on your very 1st post now you are trying to push and sell products. You sound like a salesman for Chinese cctv equipment not a end user or cctv tech trying to help other people. -
Remote Software Freezes after 15 min of streaming video.
crirvine replied to gexamb's topic in Computers/Networking
Not sure about your brand dvr. On the remote PC is the screen saver on? Turn off monitor after 15 mins? Turn off harddrives after 15 mins? Have you looked for and updated the remote software to the newest version? Are you using ATI Video card (Card of Choice for most DVR's)? Is this the software that came with the DVR you own? If not use that software as dvr's are software specific. After checking these please list more information. 1. Brand and model DVR. 2. Type PC include motherboard brand and model, Prossor brand and model, video card brand and model, amount of system ram, does this only happen over the internet, local lan or both? -
kalatel ptz on a kodicom 4408 dvr
crirvine replied to cmarin's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
The kalatel ptz units I have seen use only kalatel ptz format but you can buy an adapter from them not cheap but for sale by them. -
We are using GE fiber to copper units 3 ptz's and 1 4 chamera to 1 fiber unit all ptz's are outside on 60 foot rohn 25G towers. The only thing we have to do is reset the power on the fiber units not very often at that.

Looking for viewer for PC that is not supporting ActiveX
crirvine replied to tonnymathieu's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Sorry thats the only way known you have to use the remote software that came with the dvr. Software from another company will not work with someone elses dvr. Have your IT department look at and read the specifications on your dvr and setup your pc to only work with this software its not a had thing to do as we have done this in banks and schools on many installs. -
DVR Card Recommendation
crirvine replied to fran4383's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
As a dealer using dvr cctv equipment for the last 8 years and camera's for the last 20 + years the best quallity equipment has come from Korea and we have tried many brands from all contries. It is not like we have not tried BUT ALL DVR CARDS I HAVE TRIED FROM CHINA WERE CLONES and not used in the field we spend money at the company I work for on R and D so I have some money to play with to try to give our customers a better product for a better price. I do not advertise in our forum because we do not sell outside our service area so we do not sell in the forum or on the web. If you would like to advertise Rory or Thomas would be glad to sell you ad space in the forum. -

You can contact Digi-Flower at their website and get the software from them. You will just have to prove your card is not a clone and they will send you the software. -

KINGWOOD it seems you like to try to sell CLONED EQUIPMENT. ALSO ONLY RETAIL PRICES ARE ALLOWED TO BE POSTED in the forum. Please read the rules. As for the best equipment it is built in Korea Camera's and Recorders. -
My new cctv camera's for outside.
crirvine replied to cocacola's topic in General Analog CCTV Discussion
Rory I think ypu are right about low or budget. All camera's I have ordered that came in plain box's with no brand name they are just low priced camera's for the most part. Good luck I see IR's on your camera's most of these type camera's pull 1 amp power at 12 volts dc 100 foot on cat 5 is pushing the 24 guage wire for power. Also do not split pairs on twisted wire. PAIR 1= White,Blue/Blue,White PAIR 2= White,Orange/Orange,White PAIR 3= White,Green/Green,White PAIR 4= White,Brown/Brown,White -
Not sure about your ptz problem but your camera needs to be sent back for repair. Nothing you or I should try to fix. On the ptz controller (camera) 002 (camera) or try (mode) 002 (mode)

Which Card to Use...
crirvine replied to Securitymaster's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
You can use any type rf mod on catv cable then use the channel plus on cctv run both into a 2 way splitter backwards like a 2 to 1 combiner then to your dist amp and splitter to the rest of the house -
Can you set the camera and dvr to PELCO D ? With baud rate 9600 8 none and 1. You should see about 3.5 to 5.0 volts dc on the 485 + - ports at the dvr. That is a much better standard for me.

Suggest a stand-alone DVR - Home use
crirvine replied to jscott@furrs.net's topic in Digital Video Recorders
You have several good to choose from I C REAL TIME just depends how much you want to spend. Why getting away from PC based? I just have so much more I have control over with the PC based. -
I can not remember the part number but you can get hard drives racks that fit in the 5.25 slots they take up 3 5.25 slots and give you 4 3.5 hd slots sata or ide you can get either type. I have a case loaded 12 hard drives and a dvd burner with a big power supply. Theses racks are under the 100.00 price so not a bad choice to look at.

Which Card to Use...
crirvine replied to Securitymaster's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
You can use ch 3 out of dish catv box 125 out of channel plus to a splitter turned backwards 2 in 1 out to a distrabution amp to house dish on ch3 cctv on ch125. This works got this from their tech support and I have this working at 2 sites. -
What are your settings? Very few sites justify highest settings plus 30 fps per camera. If you are in a place that requires that type of setup then they need to not worry about the price and buy the storage.

pico2000 1.8 in backround
crirvine replied to dsf's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Most dvr's are just that a dvr. Most will only do 1 thing at a time very few will do more than that. Our dvrs are just that customer not allowed to use it for any other reason until after the warrenty has run out then you can pay all the service calls you want to but you were told up front that this would happen. I saw a post awhile back stating a few good things to remember. 1. Why did you buy a dvr? If the answer is security then why risk it by using it to surf the web or anything else that would put you dvr and data at risk. 2. Is this a toy used for no main reason? Then play away you have nothing to loose. -
As each brand of drv and ptz work differant I write a guide for each type equipment we install. Plus it does no good to tell a user how to operate a ptz when they did not buy one. You need to write one for the equipment you install for each customer. Custom to each install.
