Anyone have the specs for this AC adaptor? It would be used with the Sanyo VCB-3524 camera.

I have a GE Security DVR which records mp4 files. These play on Windows using a supplied program, but can the files be converted to a standard format playable on a Mac or other devices?

mp4 files - can this be converted to other video formats?
cupboy replied to cupboy's topic in Security Cameras
I read somewhere else that these files aren't really mp4 files, and are just some proprietary format. This "player" .exe they supply is really annoying since the window size will change on its own. -

I read somewhere else that these files aren't really mp4 files, just that the dvr manufacturer calls them that. This "reader" .exe that they supply is really annoying. -

So if I rename the .mp4 to .avi I can play it with something? QuickTime player cannot play it even if I change the extension to .api I am downloading Handbrake 0.10.5 For Mac I tried using it but it doesn't accept either .mp4 or files that were .mp4 that I changed the extension to .api, also there are no instructions on how to use the free product. All I see is Source No Valid Source Found. -
Wow, this is just too tough. I want to copy all the files from 3 days but all I can see to do is put a bunch of check marks on files (maximum of 30 at a time) and copy like an hour at a time. That's just ridiculous. Is there some way to access the hard drive directly somehow? How do other people handle this?

I've been using regular video cables with RCA connectors, but is it possible to use coaxial cable instead? My house is pre-wired with coaxial cable so this would be an easy way to obtain the video from my surveillance cameras. Due to some vandalism in the back yard I need to setup a camera to cover that area now which will require a long cable run of some kind, or a 2nd DVR that I don't want to buy right now. Too many other bills.

GE TVR-1004-500 DVR vs. Sanyo DSR-2004H500
cupboy replied to cupboy's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Does anyone know how I can playback video any faster than 4X on the GE DVR 10? I need to review 3 days of activity to determine who may have shot at one of my windows. -
The GE is $339 (affordable) and the Sanyo is $711 (not so affordable). What disadvantages does the GE have compared to the Sanyo. If I want to record at max. resolution continually how many hours or days will I get before the hard drive is full? And when it does fill up does it just start over from the beginning or does it just stop? Getting any kind of info prior to purchase seems difficult. Remember the good old days when you could just go to a store? The websites that sell this stuff provide no info at all. They just take money and ship stuff out.

Sanyo VCB-3524 has a zoom feature? I can't figure it out.
cupboy replied to cupboy's topic in Security Cameras
Turned out the wire needed to be more sturdy for it to lock in. It's kind of like back wiring an electrical socket. I'll be testing the camera later today or tomorrow now that I've got a power supply for it. -
Although the owner manual mentions telephoto, I cannot figure out how to set it that way. I know how to adjust the focus though. Anyone have one of these who knows if it really does have a zoom feature, or is it just an option that is added on later?

Is this pretty much a dead website now? I don't see how to create new threads, so that's what I'm thinking. -

Well, it appears I've forgotten how to start a new thread so I'll just add on to this one. Anyone know how to connect the 24VAC to this camera (Sanyo VCC-6574A). The connections on back are different. I can find any kind of owner manual on line either. -
Are 1/4" image sensors lower quality than 1/3", and do they use the same size lenses. Seems like all the lenses are 1/3" Is there such a thing as a 1/4" lense? I've just noticed my current cameras have 1/2" image sensors, but that all my lenses are 1/3" Am I using the wrong lenses? They seem to work ok, but maybe I'm losing something.

I've purchased a 2nd one of this same make/model camera. Can I connect both using the same power supply, or should I get a 2nd power supply for the other camera? And does anyone know if the camera mounts are standard things I can buy somewhere? The ebay seller neglected to include this part that normally comes with the camera, but that is typical of ebay sellers. -
GE TVR-1004-500 DVR vs. Sanyo DSR-2004H500
cupboy replied to cupboy's topic in Digital Video Recorders
When playing back video recorded at night the picture doesn't look as good as what the camera shows directly. Looks like video artifacts. Like plants blowing around in the wind. How can I minimize this effect? I tried increasing the bit rate but that didn't seem to make any difference at all. -

Thank you. I'll check into it when the unit arrives. -

They're the only 2 4-ch units I've been able to get any info on at all. The Sanyo is discontinued so I ordered the GE. What is GE Nav? Something extra I have to buy? -
Most computers come with a video input, so couldn't a camera just be plugged in there and recorded somehow? Does the cheap Sony Vegas software do it ($100 version)? One other problem is I only have an analog camera, no digital one. I'm willing to buy a digital camera though. Not a cheap Chinese one, but a nice Sanyo.

example: This DVR is capable of a real-time display rate of 120 IPS at 360 x 240 resolution (NTSC), and 100 IPS at 360 x 288 resolution (PAL). It has a video recording rate of 30 IPS at 720 x 480 res. (NTSC), and 25 IPS at 720 x 576 res. (PAL), with the ability to select lower IPS/resolution. This enables the DVR to save considerable hard drive space with the ability to prioritize recording between high risk areas and low risk areas. Is there a motion sensor that can activate my camera?
cupboy posted a topic in General Digital Discussion
Looks like I could use some X10 stuff but I'd rather not use anything that involves plugging things into electrical outlets. I don't want the camera on all the time since it activates a VCR, at least until I can figure out the digital recording stuff. -

Anyone know how to adjust the alarm volume for zone 4 on the Optex RC-10U? The manual only tells how to adjust it for zones 1-3. Maybe I could just manually disconnect the alarm sound altogether... don't really need it for anything. How would that be done (if necessary). All I'm doing with the unit is activating recording mode using the terminal connection. -

The relay output on the RC-10 and RG-10 can only handle up to 1A/50VAC. It says for higher current, use additional relay. What is this additional relay they are speaking of? There seems to be no info about that. I'd like to turn on a set of lights (about 200 VAC). -

The receiver is already powered externally but the transmitter doesn't have anything other than a 9v battery connector on it, so some sort of modification would be needed. -

How long will a 9v alkaline battery last in the TD-10U? This could be an inconvenience to replace depending on where the unit is mounted.
