Where did you set the DDNS settings? On the DVR or the router? I've previous have this problem .. the DDNS Client is reporting the IP address of a proxy server instead of my IP address .. it would be safer to set the DDNS on the router instead ..

There is no such thing as cheapest D1@30fps/channel!!! D1 at 25/30fps is high-end! I learnt that the hard way too .. after sifting through a multitude of DVR Cards to discover that ..

Actually I think it is the placement of Cam1 that is the main prob .. the angle is really bad .. Dark Interior .. Bright exterior .. VERY bright exterior .. unless u turn on the BLC (Backlight Compensation) or unless the Cam has the WDR (I've not tried this one though) .. u r unlikely to get a good view in the interior .. Reason .. the auto-focus of cameras tend to find a best fit .. the outside's brightness and the inside's darkness is causing the camera to settle for brightness level in between .. Try to point the cam lower .. it may turn out a little better .. or if possible relocate .. just remember .. never point the camera at a glass door/window .. Also .. for the very 1st clip in the 1st/2nd post .. the image looked blurry .. chk the focus and also the lens/housing

Hi .. I am just a little curious abt the advantages of a CCTV monitor over a normal PC LCD Monitor I was told by my supplier that the main advantage is the life span and also that the screen will not be "burnt" with the DVR interface so easily .. Personally I also see that images are much crisper on these monitors . My questions are: 1) Is it really better to advise my clients to get a CCTV monitor for the lifespan? I mean .. in my country .. a CCTV cost about 3 times that of a PC LCD monitor .. and LCD monitors usually come with a 3 years warranty .. 2) Why are the images much crisper and sharper on the on the CCTV monitor? Is it a setting issue or a technology issue? Thanks

Hi .. I've set up a Speed Dome with GeoVision GV800 V8.2 and a generic RS485-RS232 converter .. however .. it seemed that there movement of the speed dome (SD) is a little retarded 1) Sometimes I click and the SD starts to pan very slowly then accelerates 2) Sometimes I released the click and the SD still kept panning 3) Sometimes the initial few clicks don't seem to work .. only at the 3rd or 4th click then the SD start to move I am controlling it on the server itself .. not thru WAN/LAN etc I checked with my SD supplier and he said that it should not be so and the movement should be very smooth .. then he demoed to me using a standalone DVR from the same manufacturer and indeed it is smooth! Is this a) A setting problem? b) A 485-232 converter problem? c) Just a typical behaviour of PC based DVRs The SD and the DVR are by Dongyang Tec .. a Korean company ..

Hi forumers .. I've read a lot of request for tenders that they want a DVR that is "Data On Module" Can someone cast some light on what this Jargon means? Thanks

Hmmm .. that's a good idea .. will try to work that into the total package and try to get my clients to trade-in their 5-yrs old systems that are still running on Win2k .. ..

Hi JD .. will booting from USB / Compact Flash etc be slower? I've thought of proposing SSD for my clients .. however .. it always seemed that budget is a concern .. how do you, or anyone you know, work around their their budget concerns?

PC DVR Card software problem
ryeporta replied to tomas's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I think it has gotta be a PC Issue. Hardware: Does this PC that u are installing fulfill ALL the requirements specified by your supplier? Sometimes it may be a compatibility issue Software: Have you installed all the necessary software like DirectX / Windows updates or patches? I don't think that it is an issue with the card of the software that comes with it since you've installed it fine on another PC. -
Well u can give to me as a Christmas present!! Kidding .. Check the Sys Requirements.. .. I know some cards specifically indicated that they do not support ATI based graphics card .. if u have an NVIDIA card .. then try changing the card to see if helps .. Also .. instead of viewing it on IE8 .. have u tried to view it on the software that comes with your card?? .. also .. have u tried to view from another PC in your network that is still running IE7??

Vista .. or what I personally call "$#I+STA" .. is a brewing pot for all problems one can imagine of .. -

I googled for "SKY 400HC" .. with the parentheses .. and they all point to the same company: Shenzhen Skybest Electronic Co.,Ltd http://www.acesuppliers.com/Supplier_Company/DVR-Capture-Card_Product_Showroom_30354.html http://www.exporters.sg/showroom_item.asp?id=146025 http://www.tradekey.com/product_view/id/64696.htm Hi zanteian .. try contacting them .. -
Which Conexant Capture Card is this please?
ryeporta replied to DeCal's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Hi soundy .. the link u've got is their site in Alibaba.com .. as their Gold Member .. .. it is for them to showcase their stuff to visitors to alibaba.com .. they have a website .. if you clicked on the "Contacts" button on the top .. it will lead to a page with a lot of details .. their official site is at: http://www.aopvision.com/ All the best in finding your driver .. .. PS:: Try signing up with Alibaba and contact them thru the online forms .. most of these Chinese suppliers are very fast in their response .. just gotta be a little patient with the English as it is not their native language and not all reps can converse fluently in Eng .. I usually ask them to write to me in Chinese (cos I understand Chinese) while I reply in English .. -
Best Capture Card
ryeporta replied to VikingSooner's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Actually many DVR Cards comes with SDK .. The HikVision Cards are based on the TI DM642 Processor .. another large company in the same province (Hang-Zhou) called SkyVision also have a similar card .. .. I think they provide the SDK Another Taiwanese coy www.ProVideo.com.tw also uses TI DM642 also have the similar and confirmed that they provide the SDK
