As someone said above could get it try it and use it as a stop cap till I can find a 8 channel d1 system system in my price range
-
Hay friend I dont wont to offend you but I have no idea what any of them link's are for or about. Way over my head PS had a look and found the system you guys was talking about that can only do 2 Channel playback simultaneously . Its same oem make but different model I was going to go with a dual format dvr Jpeg2000 recording and H.264 for veiwing over the net but missed the one it was on ebay. I know Mpeg4 is ment to be better the H.264 in some cases

OK ill have a look i could end up using both lol as it like to rain just about 24/7 lol -
The system I looked at use the same firmware/ software as this unit in the video. . And is made buy the same outlet Apart from when guy only brings up one cam on playback the system I looked at in the shop had all 8 cam's come up on show and it was night time in the playback. And then back in live viewing I could see 8 cam's all running Maybe I dont understand im not going to say I do lmao im a dum dum today but then no sleep for 2 days will do that to ya

I think H.264 is ment to be one of the best when it comes to live viewing playback is some times better then mpeg4 and some times its not. If DVR's run like a pc then Linux is a stable platform and wont crash as much as a windows base system. But that is if it runs like a pc. And all so in Linux you should see lots of updates as its a open platform. Loads of people allways codeing for it and the dvr people can take what thay like the look of and mod it to fit there systems and then add it to a firmware update You could just look for a system thats HDMI out or good spec VGA out this would give you the best quality out put. Hope it help's just a bit I may be 100% wrong on this witht he OS but im going on if it runs like a pc. The tv out I think im right on

Hay Tom how you doing thanks for the info but question for you. Witch Apollo dvr unit you talking about and what would be classed as basic system?. Im new to dvr's so cant say I know what good to have and whats not. What I can say is this the system has a Pentaplex function so it can do a number of things at at the same time. Real-time monitoring at D1, Multiple-channel record, multiple-channel playback, backup & remote access all at the same time and there still loads more. The system all so has a number of ways to backup Support peripheral USB backup device. (Flash disk, portable disk and etc.) Support USB burner (extension function). Support network download and backup Witch Apollo dvr unit you talking about m8 as I cant find anything in the book saying about Backing up only 2 cameras at a time. Next a dum question and maybe it will give me the nod where to look in the book but what do you meen buy only backing up 2 at a time. I was looking at getting the Jupiter V2 4ch H264 High Resolution DVR aka AV792 but its only 4 channel and cost more then the apollo 8 channel.

If you can not RMA it then If you going to be soldering I would take them all of and fit 940nm LED'S

I see some one trying to break in to my house on my laptop so I wont to say Oh twat do one the old bill are on there way ) 5 (Senario If I cant use a mic over the net with the dvr could I use a recorded message some how ) 6 Whatsthe stuff called that you can feed your cable in to that can stop people cutting the cable Thanks guys -
Its a 220-240v one im looking at . Im looking at it because its cheap and its got a half inch CCD chip 1/2 and runs at 470 TV Lines (horizontal resolution) in colour mode, and 570 TVL in black & white mode. So I was under the impression that is was going to be a kick ass camera. With it running on house hold electric I dont fance putting it out side. I did look at the case but there ugly and stand out a lot. Maybe out back or the side but not the front
