Hi guys how you all doing ? good I hope anyway lets move on to my first cctv system. I have a number of questions I would like to ask along the way. So if you guys dont mind I would like a bit of input so lets start off the base of the system the DVR. I am looking at a cheap dvr system new or a cheap second hand unit I. Know i will get better kit second hand its just picking the right stuff I all so need the system to be good at uploading live feed to the net for remote set up as im a way a lot of the time. So first the new stuff I am looking at a number of DVRS but the one thing in common is most new stuff in the systems im looking at is the Video Compression. And that is Mpeg4 or H.264 Both good for uploading to the net. Now I know their not the best compression you can get when it comes to recorded play back but hay what you going to do. Mpeg4 ) Its my understanding that Mpeg4 will give a better recorded play back then a H.264 dvr. ( Dependant on the H.264 chip set ) H.264 ) Again its my understanding that H.264 will give a better live feed over the net and also an extra 25% record time at the same setting as Mpeg4. But not as good play back Now out of the two I dont know whats the best to go with but looking at the way H.264 is taking off I think it could be the better bet out the two with firmware updates to the code. If the dvr can take updates. So the one system im looking at right now is a H.264 system and its got both VGA and HDMI out. The HDMI out is just a gimmic I know this but guess it could work in my favour if I wanted to sell it on. So anyway the dvr im looking at is now Known but at least 3 name's ill list them in how I think there badged. 1 Dahua 2 Apollo 3 Robox Now the basic spec to this model of DVR Operating System Embedded LINUX Multiplex operations: Multiple-channel record, multiple-channel playback and network operation simultaneously. Compression Standard Video Compression H.264 and Audio Compression G.711A Video Standards PAL(625Line, 50f/s), NTSC(525Line, 60f/s) Video Resolution Format NTSC PAL D1(4CIF) 704 X 480 704 X 576 CIF 352 X 240 352 X 288 QCIF 176 X 120 176 X 144 Video Recording CIF/QCIF: PAL 1f/s~25f/s, NTSC 1f/s~30f/s 4CIF: PAL 1f/s-25f/s NTSC 1f/s-30f/s The 1st channel can support D1 realtime recording Dual encoding streams supported <------------( WHAT IS THIS ? ) Network Functions TCP/IP, UDP, DHCP, DNS, IP Filter, PPPOE, DDNS, FTP, Email, Alarm Server. So that is the dvr I think im going to end up buying if I go with new dvr. The second hand system Im looking at is a eneo BTR-3104/250CD Now I wont go so much in to the spec as theres a lot but I will add two bits. Compression standard JPEG-2000, (Recording), H.264 (Network streaming) Recording speed 200 Fields/sec. at 360x144)( 100 Fields/sec. at 360x288 )( 50 Fields/sec. at 720x288 (PAL) Now I think thats the better DVR but it dose cost a lot more and is second hand. Next is Cameras now I dont know much if anything at all about them but i have been looking and come up with a list. That maybe you could help with the system is going to be setup out side. I have flood lights out side my house but dont want to rely on them for light. So im going with some ir cam's I think On the cheap side im looking at housed units and im looking for x2 of each. For the front of the house Brand: Sony CCD Main DSP Sony CXD3142R Lens supplied: 3.6mm Fixed IR Illumination: 25 Metres Scene: Day - Night Rating: Outdoor IP66 Resolution: 420tvl CCD Type: Sony 1/3" CXD3142R For the back and side Brand: Sony CCD Chip Set Sony CXD3142R Lens supplied: 3.6mm Fixed IR Illumination: 10 Metres Scene: Day - Night Rating: Outdoor IP66 Resolution: 420tvl CCD Type: Sony 1/3" Super HAD I could get better spec on paper of ebay from China but you dont know if there any good. So im going to buy from uk shop. If I wanted to pay a bit more I would be looking at these cameras 520 /540 is there going to be much difference between two ? 1) Brand: Sony CCD Main DSP Nextchip 2010 Lens supplied: 4 - 9mm Varifocal IR Illumination: 30 Metres Scene: Day - Night Rating: Outdoor IP66 Resolution: 520tvl CCD Type: Sony ICX-639AK 2)Brand: Sony CCD Main DSP Nextchip 2010 Lens supplied: 4 - 9mm Varifocal IR Illumination: 40 Metres Scene: Day - Night Rating: Outdoor IP66 Resolution: 540tvl CCD Type: Sony ICX-639AK And the last Question I would like to know is will I be better of using Black Shotgun Cable Coil RG59 Coax + 2 DC Cores over cat5 and set of CCTV Camera Video Power Balun UTP Transceivers Thanks for your time and thanks for reading my post

Hello you lot how you all doing im from the uk saying a big hello to you all

Right guys im sory for asking the same type question againe but Need to ask. I have found a AVC 787D DVR Lets use USD for the money. So I found a USED AVTECH AVC 787 dvr its a 16channel Mpeg 4 system now looking around it dont seem to bad. But is it as good as the new dvr im looking to buy ( Intellicam G4-HD-E 8 channel aka apollo) The AVC787D is $100 and the G4 is $184 The avc is a Mpeg4 system the G4 is a H.264 Avc pdf http://www.avtech.com.tw/image/product_pic/doc/AVC787.pdf The G4 aka Apollo pdf http://www.onlinesecurityproducts.co.uk/user/downloads/ApolloHD-Series-DVR-User-Manual.pdf Now Im not asking you to read both there just there incase you wonted to Anyway the thing I think I need to look at is the Recording Rate AVC 787 Maximum Recording Rate FRAME: 100 IPS @ 704×576 FIELD: 200 IPS @ 704×288 CIF: 400 IPS @ 352×288 Adjustable Recording Speed FRAME: 100, 50, 25, 12 IPS FIELD: 200, 100, 50, 25 IPS CIF: 400, 200, 100, 50 IPS G4/APOLLO PAL Real-time monitor: D1 704×576 I think only 1 channel can record in D1 the rest are CIF Playback: 1/9-ch: D1 704×576 , CIF 352×288/ , QCIF 176×144 Other channels CIF 352×288 QCIF 176×144 Support dual streams: extra stream resolution QCIF 176×144 Frame rate: there are six levels: 1 f/s, 2f/s, 3f/s, 6f/s, 12f/s, 25f/s. Its hard to know whats what with the apollo spec sheet for me anyway. So there you go guys Thanks for any info Oh and ill be using a min of 3 cameras and a max of 6 for now

As someone said above could get it try it and use it as a stop cap till I can find a 8 channel d1 system system in my price range
-
Hay friend I dont wont to offend you but I have no idea what any of them link's are for or about. Way over my head PS had a look and found the system you guys was talking about that can only do 2 Channel playback simultaneously . Its same oem make but different model I was going to go with a dual format dvr Jpeg2000 recording and H.264 for veiwing over the net but missed the one it was on ebay. I know Mpeg4 is ment to be better the H.264 in some cases
-

RG59 BOOTS or Self Amalgamating Rubber Tape & SPEAKER'S
Slim3001 replied to Slim3001's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
OK ill have a look i could end up using both lol as it like to rain just about 24/7 lol -
The system I looked at use the same firmware/ software as this unit in the video. . And is made buy the same outlet Apart from when guy only brings up one cam on playback the system I looked at in the shop had all 8 cam's come up on show and it was night time in the playback. And then back in live viewing I could see 8 cam's all running Maybe I dont understand im not going to say I do lmao im a dum dum today but then no sleep for 2 days will do that to ya
-
I think H.264 is ment to be one of the best when it comes to live viewing playback is some times better then mpeg4 and some times its not. If DVR's run like a pc then Linux is a stable platform and wont crash as much as a windows base system. But that is if it runs like a pc. And all so in Linux you should see lots of updates as its a open platform. Loads of people allways codeing for it and the dvr people can take what thay like the look of and mod it to fit there systems and then add it to a firmware update You could just look for a system thats HDMI out or good spec VGA out this would give you the best quality out put. Hope it help's just a bit I may be 100% wrong on this witht he OS but im going on if it runs like a pc. The tv out I think im right on

Hay Tom how you doing thanks for the info but question for you. Witch Apollo dvr unit you talking about and what would be classed as basic system?. Im new to dvr's so cant say I know what good to have and whats not. What I can say is this the system has a Pentaplex function so it can do a number of things at at the same time. Real-time monitoring at D1, Multiple-channel record, multiple-channel playback, backup & remote access all at the same time and there still loads more. The system all so has a number of ways to backup Support peripheral USB backup device. (Flash disk, portable disk and etc.) Support USB burner (extension function). Support network download and backup Witch Apollo dvr unit you talking about m8 as I cant find anything in the book saying about Backing up only 2 cameras at a time. Next a dum question and maybe it will give me the nod where to look in the book but what do you meen buy only backing up 2 at a time. I was looking at getting the Jupiter V2 4ch H264 High Resolution DVR aka AV792 but its only 4 channel and cost more then the apollo 8 channel.

If you can not RMA it then If you going to be soldering I would take them all of and fit 940nm LED'S

DO any of you guys use Self Amalgamating Rubber Tape ?? -
Its a 220-240v one im looking at . Im looking at it because its cheap and its got a half inch CCD chip 1/2 and runs at 470 TV Lines (horizontal resolution) in colour mode, and 570 TVL in black & white mode. So I was under the impression that is was going to be a kick ass camera. With it running on house hold electric I dont fance putting it out side. I did look at the case but there ugly and stand out a lot. Maybe out back or the side but not the front

OK guys I found whats looks to be a good Day/ Night cam its a Panasonic WVCL920A 1/2â€

Sorry I did not work it out I just put USD when its in GBP. All so its the dvr is the (ASV versionand is upgraded to have: MPEG4 network transmission, and built-in SATA HDD interface and VGA output interface.] OK cool I see what you saying It was just it was a lot cheaper but it is used Are you kidding? Anytime you can buy a 16 channel DVR for $100 US then buy it!!? Sorry m8 in USD its $200 in GPB its £119 Hi m8 I think the unit is the ASV so it runs Sata Its base only no hard drive removed buy owner Are you sure about this price brand new? I would avoid this. The price is to good. I peeked in a Shoreview Security's website to see the price, and these do not match in price.? Hi m8 yer thats the new price is £186 but againe in GBP In USD its $310 with out Hard drive Im going to be adding a seagate 1tb sv35 drive as long as I can get one if not 750/500GB Hi m8 all it say's for the spec to the chipset is High-performance industrial embedded micro controller It adopts embedded Linux OS to maintain reliable operation. Popular H.264 compression algorithm and G.711 audio compression Thats the same on any of the rebaged units the unit im getting in the UK is called Apollo or Robox in the US its called Intellicam G4-HD-E and in the place there made China there called Dahua If you look at the Dahua website just google it you will see how just how many unit's out there in the world are rebaged Dahua units I was shocked when I found the same unit under 4 diffrent brand's Thanks for taking time to reply to me

Slim3001 replied to Slim3001's topic in Security Cameras
Oh yer the main cameras are going to be around $60USD and $100 USD I just thought that I could use this cam to cover the stairs. I will have a look see if there any more left and get a secend one then. -
Hay guys just wonted to ask if you think this was a bargain price for a IR Dome camera. Ill post the spec Its only a indoor came and its only 1/4 but still for the price. SPEC Dimensions: 65mm(H) Diameter: 92mm(bottom) 55mm(top) Power: 12V DC Color: Black Pickup device: 1/4" Sharp HAD Color CCD Image Sensor: Powerful 1/4â€
-
Hay guys just wonted to ask if anyone could tell me some bits to look out for when looking to buy cctv cameras. Something like this comes up a lot with camera spec's Image Sensor size 1/3 or 1/4 whats the better size to go for TVL most common I see is 420 / 460 /520 I know there more but most shops seem to sell this spec thanks guys
-
Hay thanks m8 so lower the number the bigger the Sensor is. If you have 2 cam's all the same spec just about both with say 1/3 ccd but 1 is a 420 the othere 520 should there be a massive difference in the video quality when used day and night.
