The Crown PZM-10 or PZM-11 have always been my 'go to' mics for surveillance applications.
After the mic, you'll need some kind of preamp and then a headphone amp.
A small mixer like the Mackie 402 would meet your needs nicely.

I see compression F fittings all the time, but I've never seen a compression BNC used in any pro video applications.
Just new to me, if so.
It may be a bit overkill but I've had great luck with one called the Powerfast Strap Gun. Basically shoots Romex staples.
It can be found at most home improvement/hardware stores.
