    Dahua cameras now at Costco

Sure, you can use my cameras. I can set them with really low resolution, low frame rate so we don't mess up both our networks. I just have two sitting on my desk. Let me know when you have your 4 working and you can add in my two to test it out.
  2. 7 Mobotix D14 (3MP) at 30FPS. The cameras don't send video to the NAS unless it's recording an event but it's buffered not continous. The only thing would be if one was to look at live video from all 7 camera at full resolution at once, but likely use the second stream which may be VGA resolution but really they haven't live viewed any of the cameras in 3 years other than to check their operation. So in a perfect world, probably 8Mbps * 7, but probably not that much will be needed. My thoughts were to use a Ubiquiti Rocket M900, but nobody around here wants to touch Ubiquiti, it's like the way we feel about Foscam, haha.
  3. We are in a warm climate in So Cal and some days, like yesterday, the temps soared to 90F (yes, in November) and that seems to kill our NAS. We have a fairly large NEMA enclosure (like 3' square, 1' deep) with other stuff like router, PoE switch, access control board and an exhaust fan. It's a Buffalo desktop NAS. We used to have an OpenEye NVR in there, but the heat killed that puppy also. Or it could be just a bad NAS. At another location, the NAS is in an equipment room, no A/C, no fan but not problems there, not subject to the same heat transfer as a metal enclosure. Any ideas? And before you say this was a bad idea, I told them so months ago before this project started, nobody believed me, now they do

Even if he doesn't have more than 4 cameras, if you provide him remote access to your cameras, he would be able to add them in and test it.
  5. That's why I'm trying to get a wireless bridge back to a better location, the problem is getting people locally that know what they are doing.

No, they come from Q-See in Orange County, California, but they are made in China, just like Apple iPhones and iPads.
  7. We know his budget, $3K per camera, so that's $47K over budget, ouch. Makes the 29MP Avigilon look like a bargain.
  8. The gate is at Lat: 33.553269 Lon: -117.683530. The building is at La: 33.550952, Lon: -117.686410. There's a tennis court where we have ethernet to from the building for access control that's about 200' closer and more importantly, sits atop the fence which is about 12' high and the light fixtures where an antenna can be mounted are higher, maybe 15-20' if that helps at Lat: 33.551570, Lon: -117.685992. At the gate we can mount an antenna atop a light pole.
  9. I'm not the one selling to him, that's on the german company or it's reseller to decide. Besides, I don't think 51 MP is enough to ID a destroyer a few hundred miles away launching a missle strike. If he was asking questions about how he can mount this camera on a satelite, drone or a missle, then I would be concerned.
  10. That looks interesting. They will replace the NAS tomorrow but I think it will die again come summer. I keep hoping I can find someone that really knows wireless and can setup a link between the gates and our park building. It's a tough nut to crack because everyone that comes out takes a look at our terrain and runs. It's really not that bad and to go 800', I can't imagine they can't make it work.
  11. Their website actually shows Iran as a country they sell too.

The DX lenses are rated for 1/4 and 1/3" sensors. I still haven't gotten mine and it's been a while but they claimed the shipped it.
  13. It's a NEMA enclosure mounted to the back of a monument wall for a gated entrance. It already has a fan, albeit a noisy fan so maybe it's on it's last legs. The NAS has it's own fan. I think we need some tiny a/c that sits inside the enclosure.
  14. 95 is too low, I need 110-140F. The highest temp NAS I saw was from QNAP and Netgear ReadyNAS and they were 40C which is 104F, which is fine if it's outside, but inside a cabinet it will get hotter. All the other brands seem to be 35C which is 95F and ambient temps of over 100F can occur a few times a year.
  15. There is an option to reboot once a day, but if it's rebooting more often, something is wrong as my Q-See version has been stable.
  16. I tried it this weekend and the PIR sensor triggered at about 15' away from the camera. It may go further but I'm limited in testing to the size of the room.
  17. Looks like very cool technology and never seen it before. 51 MP spread across 12 sensors makes sense to me as you have reduced pixel density per sensor theorectically allowing for better low light performance. Are you going to get one to try out?
  18. I bought a broken camera on ebay that was still under warranty and I sent it in and it was fixed for free, so you never know.

    acti 1231 IR question.

Yes, the last link. If you search ebay or amazon for 263' IR Illuminator, you'll see more.
  20. Some models are already out and they are trickling out. So it may be on a price list, but availability may be limited. I'm trying to get the new low light dome and bullet and the bullet is supposed to be out next month and the dome in January. Heck, I'm still waiting for Axis cameras to come announced with availability this past summer.

    acti 1231 IR question.

I would not mess with trying to replace the circuit board with the IR illuminators with a brand X one as you may hit other problems like light bleed onto the lens, the pattern created may not be what you expect, you may fry the camera's circuit board. Just get an external IR illuminator and use it together with the one from the camera to create a really fantastic image at night. I use the Okeba that you find on eBay or Amazon. Has 8 huge LEDs, rated for 263' and a 45 degree viewing angle and is made of cast aluminum. Runs about $40 give or take. I have mine offset from the camera at about 30 degrees to balance out the shadows created by the camera IR LEDs.
  22. OK, I'm shutting her down as I need to do other work with the camera, but it surpased 15 hours of recording. I started continuous recording by clicking on Recordings under Setup and clicking on Contineous and selecting the Enable check box. Disk Network Share, Profile Balanced.
  23. Still recording, about 9 hours so far. Update: crossing the 12 hour mark.
  24. That's always been the problem with AVTech, they don't really have a distribution channel in the U.S. and some resellers pick them up for a short time and then drop them and can't tell you why. There seems to be two sellers on Amazon, not for the avn812, but the avn80X. Search Amazon for AVTech and you'll see it's the first one and there's 2 sellers. I would contact those sellers and see if they can get you the models you want. The other place of course is eBay and there seems to be more there and curiously and avn813 which is an avn812 with an SD card slot.
  25. Mike he must be government employee and/or bureaucrat Mike how far buell + winkle from bull + s...t ? Technically it's the IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions forum and there's a seperate catagory for HD-SDI cameras. I for one feel deceived that you would post images from a non-IP cameras without stating so. I lost all my respect for both of you. Just about every person adding images to this post mentions the specifics of the camera unless you are trying to trick the public.
