  1. Maybe something wrong with your browser. Try doing a curl command, see what happens as in curl http://192.168.1.100/onvif/snapshot > snap.jpg and see if it create a pictures in the current directory. Or do a curl http://admin:12345@192.168.1.100/Video/inputs/channels/1 > video.xml and it should create an XML document with the image parameters of the camera.
  2. I've noticed an anomaly with the 6mm ds-2cd2032-i that has more blue in the image than say the 4mm or 12mm lenses. Almost like the affect you get from a broken IR filter but nowhere near as strong, so it's not that. Could be a lens design issue or the IR filter color used in the 6mm is different, but I would think they use the same IR filter with the different lenses, or not. Anyone have the same experience with this lens?
  3. What's the IP address of your router, because on your PC it shows 192.168.1.255, if that's it, make sure you specify that in your camera as the gateway address.
  4. Thanks. Mine is a little different, maybe the different lens with 6mm but I found 28 for red, 44 for blue works best.
  5. That's great. Last I heard the plugin did not work with Linux, but maybe they fixed that. For IP, you likely have a home router with other devices on it. That has a subnet (the first 3 numbers in an IP address) that you use. For example, if you use DHCP assign the IP, you could run the ifconfig -a command on Linux or OSX to see what IP, gateway and subnet mask are for your router. If it's Windows, it's ipconfig. You'll see something like say 192.168.1.12 for the PC, then make the camera something with the first 3 numbers, the last number can be 1-254, so make it high to avoid any conflict with DHCP like 100 or 200.
  6. OK, I see that now and that's what MWB means, manual white balance and then it gives you sliders to set it. Heck, I got even better results doing it that way. What happens as color temperature shifts during the day as it's different at dawn vs dusk, does it still look good all day? Also, I had to kick down saturation as the image looks way too colorful.
  7. You do know that you can't see the live stream through the web interface on Linux right? And yes, you put your PC IP in that subnet, use that to change the IP of the camera to your home network, then change your PC back to your home network because the SADP program most people use to do this is only on Windows. Of course if you have access to a Windows system, you can run SADP and set the IP address using their tool, much easier.
  8. Just return the camera, I believe Ali allows you 30 days to do so.
  9. Same as what I originally posted, but with IE it does not work, gives in an error "Windows cannot find....". With Firefox it asks me if I really want to log in, how annoying is that. Not as friendly as the onvif/snapshot in older firmware versions. It does work with the curl command, directed the output to a jpg file on my desktop and it appeared there. What are you using this command in that works for you? Don't get me wrong, I'm happy it works with curl because then I can script it if I had to. Ideally if I can find someone to help me that's a C programmer, I can used curl to maybe extract images from the camera, say 4-5 times per second, pass them to openalpr to create a cheap (free) LPR solution.
  10. OK, downgraded from 5.1.6 to 5.1 and that did indeed fix the problem, a dramatic difference. No rush to install 5.1.6 back as there's no benefit for me in doing so.
  11. I don't understand it. I looked at 3 cameras with 5.1, 5.1.2, 5.1.6 and they all have a white balance option. There was an oddity in 5.1 that showed MWB as an option but that was not chosen. Not sure what "locked wb" is. Natural light produces slightly better results. So is the theory that white balance on 5.1 is better than in 5.1.x and I should go to 5.1 to get better white balance. If so, not a big deal. BTW, this is the return back for Video/inputs/channels/1 which has the white balance, so if it's possible, I can set it from there, but not sure if that would buy anything. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?> - 1 60hz auto1 100 50 50 49 - auto
  12. In my system tray (far lower right of screen on Win7 or Win8 desktop mode), there's an icon that when I hover over it, it says Milestone Mobile Server - Started. I have Win7. There may be an up arrow on the system tray that shows additional icons as it can only typically show 3-4 on the task bar. Then if you right click on it, there's lot of other options like show/edit port number, start/stop server. That's how I always accessed it. If not, go to the Start menu (Win7, have not clue where that is in Win8) and there's Mobile Server Manager but have never used that myself but should be a good place to start.
  13. But stops working again in 5.2, crazy huh!
  14. Make sure the mobile server is started. There's an icon for it in the system tray. Also, make sure it's not a Windows Firewall issues. Normally Milestone updates this, but I had it work and then stopped after a Windows update, so make sure that port if free on firewall by turning the firewall off, test it and see if it makes a difference. If it does, you can add that rule to the firewall for that port.
  15. Yes, BlueIris & Milestone have web clients that do not require a plugin.
  16. No, the IR Cut filter is a separate device that sits between the lens and sensor. On some cameras it rotates in/out and some it slides in/out. Replacing the lens won't help, but in many cameras it is screwed in to or part of the mount that holds the lens, so can theoretically be replaced, assuming parts were available. Here's an image that may help -
  17. The color shift is subtle, so maybe to most it's not noticeable. For now, I found setting saturation to 40 and hue to 40 has made it better. I'll experiment more when there's full sun later in the day.
  18. To use the Milestone web or mobile clients, port forward 8081 and 8082. You can even just use 8081 if you uncheck the secure connection on the mobile client.
  19. If your Samsung has the concept of apps you can install like Android or IOS, maybe you can find an app in their app store for this.
  20. Wow, never seen anything like that. What happens in "night" mode is there's a IR filter that's pulled away from the sensor via a solenoid and during the day it's pushed between the lens and sensor to provide IR filtering. It could be the filter is hitting the lens and restricting it's range of motion so it's rocking back and forth. If you can take it apart to the point where you can remove the lens, you may be able to see what the IR cut filter is doing and fix it.
  21. By virtue that you will have to have PoE switches for the cameras and your corporate computer network does not likely have it may negate the reason for a VLAN but most of the higher capacity management PoE switches have VLAN capability if needed. But it may pay to have a separate subnet via VLAN just for the cameras and then have a second ethernet connection to the campus lan for the NVR PC. Make sure the PoE switches have GigE uplinks at least, if not all gigabit (cameras are pretty much all 100Mbps).
  22. Make sure you reset the camera properly, hold down the reset button, unplug the camera, wait 10 seconds, plug it back in, wait about 10 seconds and let go of the reset button, the unplug the camera. Then start the TFTP server with your PC set to 192.0.0.128 and plug the camera in. Make sure the firmware is in the same directory as the tftp-update-loader. I would try 5.1, it's safer. Also, there's no apparent advantage over 5.1.6 and some features have been removed like Face Detection, but if you feel that you absolutely have to have 5.2, there's no harm in Chinese menus if you are using an NVR or NVR software. You can also use Chrome browser to translate.
  23. You have to set the camera's motion detect areas for this to work. In Hikvision this is under Advanced Configuration and Events, check the Enable Motion Detection box and draw the area on the screen you want motion detect and here's what trips people up, the default sensitivity is zero, that won't work, set it to 20 or 40 based on your preference (all of mine are at 20).
