  1. My bad, was trying to send a PM but ended up posting instead by accident. I sincerely apologize.
  2. Depends if you want to access the cameras separately, but I would favor the separate PoE switch. I would also favor a PC with NVR software any day to an NVR.
  3. Did that work? Can you access the cameras via the web browser outside your network? Also, what's your exact configuration from your ISP's device to the camera. Some people use dual routers, meaning the ISP provides a router, then you put another router on top of that and then you can't port forward. Or you use the NVR's PoE ports for the cameras which is sort of a router and then you can't access the cameras externally.
  4. Yes they do, the 3MP ds-2cf2632f-i, is 2.8-12mm varifocal.
  5. Has anyone got 5.1 to work with Safari or Firefox on OSX? My cameras with 5.0 work fine, but the ones with 5.1 say live view failed.
  6. Didn't even know there was an NVR out there that did LPR. We use Axis Q1604 (not the Q1604-E) for LPR with a 5-50mm Fujinon lens inside an Axis enclosure (not the one included with the E model, its too small) and a RayTec RM100-30 illuminator and get very high percentage of capture with Milestone LPR module. I'm actually amazed because it covers two lanes and even cars merging from one lane to another so the plate is at a steep angle to the camera and I get plate captures. It's really hard to get cameras equal to the P3364-LVE because it's only 1M and everything else is at least 1080P. If you want a really nice low light IR varifocal vandal dome, the Hikvision DS-2CD2732F-IS is very good less than half the price and 3MP. Also, the ACTi E72 is very good, 3MP, good service and support, about half the price of the Axis. Choice may depend on what works with the Pelco NVR and more likely the ACTi.
  7. Have not heard back from the OP as to what specific brand of equipment he wants as that makes a big difference as to where to buy from.
  8. Probably not Swann Firmware if he's running 3MP
  9. Haha, B&H is one of the unauthorized dealers, at least on ACTi's warning - http://www.acti.com/news/Announce/Caution_to_Customers_Regarding_Unauthorized_Resellers Depends on what cameras you want. What are you looking for? Some brands do not allow any online stores.
  10. There is another mobile data phone service that uses Verizon's network that is cheaper and they don't have the $500 fee for a static IP. Don't remember who they are but if you search you can find it here.
  11. We live streamed our city parade at 1080P using a 4G connection, no problems. Wasn't that much bandwidth, maybe 1GB/hr. We also use a Cradlepoint with a VZW USB stick and without paying the $500 ransom from VZW, we can't access the cameras remotely but for us it's more for access control updates.
  12. Are the cameras directly plugged into your router or a separate switch? Is the NVR or PC doing recording plugged into the same switch or on the router? There isn't going to be any traffic on the internet link, but poorly configured networks can cause bottlenecks.

    Axis Replacements

In that specific use case, they connected to Wowsa.
  14. So $249 Sony Bloggie (2MP( vs. a 10MP camera from ACTi with IR illuminators and IR cut filter the Bloggie doesn't even have for close to the same price. Why can't Sony put a 4K (8MP) sensor, it's got to just be pennies. It should have a 4K Ultra-HD sensor and cost $40 in my opinion and then stop making obsolete 1080P TV's, they should all be 4K now, pennies for LED panel to do that, so why charge more than $599 for a 60" 4K Sony TV should be out already, LOL. This is fun!
  15. Also it's tough forwarding those low port numbers, try higher numbers, like 12000-12003 if you have 4 ports to forward. Some ISP's filter out access to some ports.
  16. Don't know what IPCamera is, but have you logged in via a browser? I would recommend Firefox and IE is unreliable. If you have to use IE, try compatibility mode.
  17. Not really sure the NVRX is Dahua. I looked through Dahua's website and nothing really looks like it. There are several companies in China that make similar looking products and many support Dahua and Hikvision cameras.
  18. Yes, I want to know where to get the $249 Sony Bloggie for $40 too. Would make a cute gift for the kids. http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-camcorders/sony-bloggie-live-hd/4505-6500_7-35118061.html

    Axis Replacements

Having ptz cameras on patrol voids the p55 warranty I believe. Have you contacted support to see if they can sell the camera without the housing, don't know if it would save much. The Dahua PTZ cameras seem sturdy, haven't had one fail yet in constant use on patrols and they are dirt cheap, about $1,300 to 1,500 depending on resolution and have a better picture than the P55 which has serious dome defect issues I don't think they resolved yet. I replace Axis Q60 at one location with Dahua because of image quality.
  20. Sure, I access all sorts of cameras from Milestone Mobile client. Can view live video, recordings, pinch to zoom, works great with Milestone XProtect software and can be all free with the GO version.
  21. It's 120 degrees and 720P, but Sony makes decent products. The widest I've seen on Axis is 105 degrees and ACTi 110 degrees, sorry, no 130 degree cameras unless you go hemispheric, then you get 180 degrees like the ACTi KCM3911 or Axis M3007. Here's a YouTube for the ACTi for what you intended it to be for, a sporting event - Here's a YouTube for the Axis - The problem with Hemispheric is the barrel distortion, can't help that, it's a fisheye but provides a cool effect.
  22. You don't need an IP camera, just get a 1080P Web Cam, there's plenty of software to record on motion and such from a webcam. Clearly not for outdoors, no day/night IR filter correctly or illuminators, but may be good enough for your purpose. To me it's crazy how cheap surveillance cameras have gotten when I used to pay $1,500 for a nice 3MP with 4 fps just 3-4 years ago and now I get 3Mp at 20 fps for $168 that's better. Heck how about 10MP, IR LEDs, day/night, outdoor, vandal proof dome, SD card slot for $279 from a top camera company? 1080P is so yesterday, it's 2K and 4K now and imagine, 10MP is even more than 4K. No $50 camcorder is going to touch that.

    Milestone X-Protect Go

To me it was a financial decision, buy a new PC to handle low cost software, i7, cost about $700 for the low end. Or pay $392 for $49 license and run on old computer, no brainer. But each case is different. I figure hardware comes and goes, software license I can run on current and future PCs. The GO version is awesome, especially for free.
  24. Widest I know of with audio is their ds-2cd2732f-is with 105 degree view.
