  1. I don't know about that, had them side by side and while more noise is visible on the E32 vs. the HFW3300C, the noise reduction blurred a lot of the image both day and night on the HFW330C, so while the image may look prettier, it did not have more detail than the noisier E32 image. For example, the detail in grass for example, even during the day gets blurred over. If noise bothers you, the best high res camera I reviewed is the Axis P3367-VE, very clean low light image and 5MP albeit more expensive than the E32, E33 and HFW3330C combined. If you want their best low light bullet, the E44 is the one to get. Should be out in a week or two.
  2. I have an avn80x, two way audio with built in speaker and mic, works as expected, avn801 does not have audio. Also check out the avn812 and avn813, they are WiFi and have speaker and mic. As large as AVTech is in China, they have no clue to distribute product in the U.S. market, so Amazon or eBay are your best bets.
  3. They may have put the manual together a while ago but could be recent firmware allows 240fps.
  4. The specs for the NVR on the Lorex website shows 240FPS at 1080P. Says so in big letters when you go to their website - http://www.lorextechnology.com/
  5. I changed all of mine on BlueIris to 10fps to give the CPU a rest. With ACTi, I keep everything at 30fps because there's no significant PC overhead.
  6. As in my review of the Swann camera, that model worked very well with BlueIris as it has a Hikvision camera choice in the software.
  7. You can get the 3MP Hikvision version shipped from China for $138 + shipping, it's maybe $180 shipped, no sales tax, no Costco membership and you have a true 3MP camera supported by a manufacturer with a U.S. presence, just saying.
  8. Ouch, that's a lot for that camera. I've seen it for $158 and thought that was high.
  9. Maybe they went to Lorex like Costco did. I took the 1080P image and superimposed with 50% transparency over the 3MP image and it's not a crop.
  10. I was really surprised when I hooked up a Dahua ipc-hdw2100 mini ir dome, same specs as the ipc-hfw2100 but actually had very good white balance and better low light sensitivity. It's a more recent model so maybe they corrected the problems. Where it was not as good was the IR illuminators. I have pictures/video on my blog.
  11. I get about the same level of support and service from ACTi but are a better value to me. I've been using ACTi indoor domes for a while and work great for me, so the new ones should be that much better. For example, the D54, 1MP IR dome is about $200, a 1MP IR dome from Axis, the only one they make, the P3367-LVE is about 5x that price. Even if you take it up a notch and match features an get the E84 (out very soon), 1080P, varifocal, very good low light sensitivity, IR and still costs half that of Axis. Does that mean the Axis is not worth it, they have some cool features like motorized focus and focal length but if price is important, I think ACTi does pretty well. I believe Razor put some 1MP ACTi domes in and had some good results with them.
  12. You cannot directly resize a 2MP image at 16:9 aspect ratio to a 3MP at 4:3 by upping the pixels by 1.5x. Imagine this, the 3MP image is 2048 x 1536, meaning you would have to take the 2MP 1920x1080 image and resize it so it has a 1536 pixel height (~5MP) and then crop it to 3MP image. Sure, in Photoshop you can do this and get a reasonable quality image although not perfect, but cctv cameras are not that sophisticated and can't do this effectively in real time at 30fps. So I seriously doubt that this is going on. This camera is advertised by Hikvision only as a 3MP camera, Swann/Lorex chose to neuter it to 1080P for marketing purposes. Can't call 3MP HDTV.
  13. How much are they asking for it? Why not get the Lorex 2-pack from Costco and load Hikvision firmware and get 3MP mini IR bullet for $175?
  14. They are back and with a new name, Lorex. Enjoy. http://www.costco.com/Lorex-HD-1080p-IndoorOutdoor-Night-Vision-2-Pack-IP-Bullet-Cameras.product.100043751.html
  15. I'm going to start a new post for new 1080P cameras from Costco.
  16. Didn't seem like a bluff to me, he had 3MP video loaded on YouTube.
  17. The Swann also had a 2TB drive. What's weirdly different is the Swann came with 60' Ethernet cables, the Lorex with 100'.
  18. Let's see how long it takes them to put out the 2-pack cameras.
  19. I have the Dahua mini IR dome, 1.3MP I was going to stick in my garage when I have time to wire it. Also, the ACTi E52 with WDR and IR illuminators would help with high contrast of a dark area with a bright window opening. As to dome or bullet, dome is less likely to get moved by accident.
  20. I like the Dahua and Hikvision cameras but running BlueIris means I have to shell out $700 for a PC that can handle them or stick to the Dahua or Hikvision NVR which is not a bad way to go.
  21. Are you sure it's the camera and not the TV set in a proper mode or a bad HMDI cable? Did you view the camera through the NVR via the NVR's web services?
  22. This is a brand new camera for Hikvision and it could be there were some early production issues. If you have the issue, just contact Swann and have them replace the camera. As a reviewer, I sometimes get the first of a model to come out and I've seen production issues on more than one brand.
  23. I've had two certified lemons, Mercedes & Infiniti, both taken back under the California lemon law. Audi is pretty reliable, not perfect but better than other cars I had. You haven't seen my latest reviews, been driving my french made car.
  24. Don't know of any 64 bit NVR apps. I install them on my Win 7 64-bit desktop and they all end up in my 32-bit Program Files directory. Why so obsessed with 64 bit? I have 2GB on my NVR pc and with BlueIris and ACTi NVR both running, I'm only using 1GB of RAM. The only thing I see that ram would help with is pre-event buffer, say even 32mb per camera, 16 cameras, 1/2GB of RAM.
  25. When you say 2-3MP, the cheapest I've seen is the Swann but Costco sold out of them, $175/cam for an 2MP IR bullet. The next cheapest would be the Dahua 2MP dome, Costco does carry that for $199 but not IR. Then you can go get a Dahua from China, the HFW3200S, 2MP, but after shipping and all, maybe $225. The ACTi D31, you may find for $265 but includes the NVR software and IOS app, so not a bad premium to pay and their software can run on the slowest PC you can find, I ran it on an Atom processor nettop.
