I have a Vista NPX/KBD/J3De keyboard/Joystick to operate a PTZ dome camera and am looking for a manual for the keyboard. I need to see if there is a calibration process or a menu system on the keyboard as recently, as soon as I select the dome camera, the camera starts to move slowly in a very small step sequence, I have no tours or presets configured as that was my first thought. it I unplug the keyboard in-between the step movements then it stops moving, if I plug the keyboard back in it remains stationary until I select the camera again. I'm hoping I can calibrate the joystick it stop this from happening. I can still move the camera and zoom in/out as normal but if I stop the camera to watch something it continues with these small step movements which means I have to keep adjusting the camera, which is annoying and inconvenient. in order to move the camera to watch a scene I have to unplug the keyboard so it doesn't wonder off. Cheers

Hi I have a Hikvision 7204 DVR. The DVR has RS485 outputs on the rear, I also have a Vista NPX/KBD/J3De keyboard/joystick controller that operates my PTZ camera (also Vista). I would like to be able to operate the PTZ features of the camera via the DVR as well as the Joystick. I know that it is possible to connect multiple joysticks together and the joystick has 2 RJ45 ports on the back, 1 is not currently in use and the other is plugged into an RJ45 breakout box which then goes off to the PTX cam. I have tried connecting the DVR to the free RJ45 on the back of the keyboard but this did not work, I have also tried wiring it straight into the breakout box and this also did not work. Where might I be going wrong here? I have checked the Protocol settings and address's of all the device and they are set correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Kind Regards Nelix

Hi All I have a bit of a situation here. I have a client who has the above DVR installed, this was inherited with the system that was already in place when they took up residence. They have had a burglary and require the footage from the CCTV but they do not know the password. Is there a way to reset the password without losing the footage or is it possible to remove the HDD and install it in a PC as a secondary drive to retrieve the data? Cheers Nelix

Hi all I'm looking for a bit of advice. I am working on a little project, just as a "something to try" type of thing. I have several Sony EX480 camera modules and was wondering if there is any way to utilise them without having to have a dome housing as I want to try and make this as small as possible. Is there such a thing as a housing that has the ribbon cables included that could be used. I have seen these type of cameras: http://image.so.com/v?src=360baike_sidepicmore&q=SONY%20FCB%20EX480CP&fromurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.vcn.com.cn%2Fsupplys%2Fdetail-42602.shtml#multiple=0&dataindex=2&id=da07fdb5770b7ff477e445ae829eeb47 And was wondering if anyone know if they can be purchased without the actual module as I already have them. I am then looking to use an IR filter on the camera and an IR illuminator to have a play with ANPR. I also need to know how I can set the shutter speed on the camera for ANPR use as a high shutter speed is needed. Has anyone done this or similar before, seems a shame to buy dedicated equipment when I could possibly utilise what I already have. Hope someone can help. Cheers Nelix

PTZ Control from keyboard and DVR to one Cam
Nelix posted a topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
Hi, I have posted this thread else where on this forum but I think I posted it in the wrong place so did not get any responses so thought I would try here. Sorry if this means I am duplicating posts, the admins can feel free to remove the old post if need be. I have a question regarding PTZ. I currently have a Vista Dome with EX480P camera installed that is being controlled by a vista NPX/KBD/J3De keyboard, it all work very well into a PCI card in a PC. I have recently purchased a HikVision DVR (DS-7104 HGHI-SH) so that I don't need to have a PC switched on 24/7 to record footage. The DVR has RS-485 connection (2 off, D+ & D-). I am trying to get both the keyboard and the DVR to be able to PTZ, mainly so I can use the keyboard when at home and utilise the PTZ of the DVR when away. I know the keyboard Baud Rate is 19200 as it displays it when powered up and I know the Camera address is 001 as I can retrieve this information from the camera menus but I don't know the Data Bit, Stop Bit, Parity or Flow Control information. I also believe the protocol to be Pelco D but cannot be 100% sure. What's the best way to get these working together? I hope someone can help. Kind Regards Nelix -

Hi all I'm new to the forum and fairly new to CCTV. I have a question that I'm hoping can be answered on here. I have just putchased a new DVR (AVTECH AVC785) for use with a couple of static cameras and a Vista Dome Camera, I also have the keyboard/joystick controller for the Dome. On the rear of the DVR there is an RS485 port that I was hoping to be able to plug the keyboard into however the I have only ever used a standard Cat5e network cable for the keyboard in the past and was wondering if I need to buy an adaptor or if I can make one so that I can use the keyboard with this DVR as the port on the unit is RJ11. Hope this makes sense, if not let me know and I'll upload some pics and try to explain better. Kind Regards Nelix

I agree, more info required, what IP's are you using externally and internally, what happens when you try to connect and it fails i.e. error messages/404 errors etc. Regards Nelix -
