  1. Trying to figure out the best location to mount this camera. What points should I base the location on? - Best view of most likely place the intruder will go? ( facing down the hall where bedrooms are) - Best view of most likely point of entry? ( facing back door and rear window ) - Cover as much area as possible maybe not as great of views? ( ceiling ) What other points should I consider?? I attached a picture of the area. Behind me is the stairs leading down to the foyer and again down to the basement ( also very likely entry point )
  2. Wouldn't this require the camera to have the IR filter removed? No...led bulbs the kind that are designed to replace incandescent and cfl...they produce visible light.. Got it sorry, I misread what you wrote. That's an idea, all of the lights are 6 watt LED. It woudn't use much to leave one on 24 7.
  3. Wouldn't this require the camera to have the IR filter removed? EDIT: Never mind I misread what you wrote
  4. I have a ACTI Q111 covert fish eye that I would like to use for for indoor home surveillance.I wanted something non intrusive (not an eyesore). The only downfall I can see to this is that it is not night vision capable. My house alarm turns the lights in the room I would be installed this camera when a sensor is triggered. My thought is that would eliminate the need for night vision. I also thought about maybe putting in some fairly bright night lights through out the room. Are there any other reasons I am not aware of to not use this particular camera for this application? Any tips on settings or any other ideas are welcome.
  5. ( BTW, thanks Soundy for finding that )
  6. I will be sure to post a sign indicating that the premise is being monitored by both audio and video. ( I will also look up the laws before doing so ) I was looking on amazon and came across this http://www.amazon.com/VideoSecu-Sensitive-Microphone-Monitoring-1UB/dp/B002S4G870?tag=gpse-20 . It seems to have good reviews and is in my price range. Any thoughts?
  7. Thats what you think till you fire up the mic..... is there any HVAC in the room? if so you WILL hear it and if the mic is not isolated properly that will be all you hear. Oh good point, yes there is an HVAC.
  8. Thanks Soundy, I should have mentioned that the place where this is to be used is a pretty quiet place.. The only noise that would be heard in there is conversations between the customers/workers and I or if someone were to break in. Would these mics be ideal for this setup.. Or should I just get a standard PC desktop mic and mount it at the register?
  9. I just got a cheepo 4 cam Kguard system for an area that is aproximatly 100 sq ft and now I'm looking for a centralized microphone to keep by the regiter which is in the center of the shop. Any suggestions?
  10. No one has any recommendations on a camera and card setup that will keep me in budget of around $600 total??
  11. To start off I originally was going to buy a Q-see system from Costco. ( After reading reviews and comments I have decided I would like to build a unit myself ) So I would like some opinions on hardware ( DVR cards and Cams mainly ) for a 1-2 cam windows based DVR/NVR Some info: - Budget is $600 for hardware ( already have the OS ) - This is for my place of business (roughly 200 sq ft of open area will need to be covered ) - I would like the ability to add up to 8 cams if I move to a bigger place - I would like the ability to have live view over the web and off site/on site backup This should get us started any other info needed just ask =)
