    CCTV Rant

Hey guys, First off, this is an awesome forum. This is a rare place where you can get advice from experienced CCTV professionals. But am I the only one that thinks there needs to be more transparency in the CCTV community? Wouldn't it be amazing if there was a site where customers could post reviews of their dvr/cameras for the benefit of the entire CCTV community? I am suggesting that this site adds a product review section. I think the industry will benefit dramatically. What do you guys think?

Have you seen amazon's review system? Or even Acne.org review system http://www.acne.org/reviews/ . Of course people's opinions will differ. But usually there is an overall consensus if a product is great or very poor. The problem with calling each company for information on the product is that it......... take way too long because there are many DVR brands out there. This site could be the leader in getting customer opinions on dvr products. Most realms of technology have review sites. Such as headphones, computers, speakers etc. The CCTV community could definitely use one because the market is currently filled with many generic brands that may fool consumers into buying them by offering ridiculously low prices. Such as the crap DVR systems at Costco, BJ's and Sam's club.
  3. I think you are over-valuing your "help". There was no help given. I don't care if it was free.
  4. I am no cctv guru. I have a small liquor store. It's about 1000 square feet. I would like a standalone 8 channel dvr that offers an excellent image resolution and remote viewing. I currently have a lousy DigiVue-425 Card. Here are the stats. So you can see where I am coming from. • Inpute Signal - 4 Video, 1 audio input (with Sound Card) • Display fps - 60fps/NTSC per card • Record fps 60 fps/NTSC per card • Display Screen 1 / 4 / 6 / 9 / 10 / 16 / 25 / 33 / Full Screen • Audio Input 1 Synchronized Mono (from Sound Card) • Color Adjust - Adjustable Light, Contrast, Hue, Saturation by Individual Camera • Resolution - 160X120 / 240X180 / 320X240 / 352X288 • Record Mode Event - Continuous / Schedule Recording • Compression - Special MPEG4 Format, Frame Size: .1K~2.5K, 1200hr~4000hr / 80GB • Audio - One Channel using Sound Card • Multi-task - Monitoring / Recording / PTZ Control / Remote / Backup • Motion Detection - 16 Zone X Multi Area for each camera • Storage - HDD / VDRAM / CD-RW / DAT / MO / ZIP / RAID. Up to 24 drives • PTZ - RS422 / RS485 Controlled PTZ & Light / Power / Wiper • Playback Speed - Forward / Back / Step / Fast / Slow • Schedule - Forward / Back / Step / Fast / Slow • Password - System / Playback / Remote Users • O.S. - Windows 2000/XP • Water Mark - Water Marking by Date & Time, Not Editable & Not Replaceable • Watchdog - Software & Hardware Watchdog • Network - PSTN / ISDN / LAN / ADSL / Internet • Remote - LAN & ADSL: Real Time In 320X240, PSTN: 5-25fps In QCIF • Remote Control - Full Function Remote Control & Remote Audio Transmission • Remote Recording - Remote Playback, Remote Recording, & Emergency Recording I am looking for a stand alone 8 channel D1 DVR. I am looking for a solid brand name, no offshore stuff. Something like the Samsung SHR-8082 8 Ch, MPEG4, 240fps @ D1, Built-in DVD-RW, and Web-Based Monitoring. I don't necessarily need a built in DVD-RW or an HD pre-installed. I just want a clear image. Thats all.

  6. I already did. For around 1100 with shipping for a SHR-8082. You mad?
  7. WTF!?!? This is real life right? I don't use monopoly money. I could care less about a MSRP. I am about the cheapest price.THE SHR-8082 @ meets my requirements.
  8. That's the BEAUTY of an online forum its free. I did not receive any advice from you, just round abouts.
  9. [edit by mod-if you wish to promote your site please contact the admin for advertising options]
  10. I started another thread because I received NO help in the other forum. Thank god for a SEANHAWG. Everyone else had me walking in circles. "I don't know if 2mcctv is or isn't a "authorized" dealer." You are truly talking from your A$$. YOU TOLD ME they were not authorized... here is a quote I ordered the SHR-8082 for more than $300 less than what you proposed as the "minimum". I will get it on friday. I am not technically retarded. I can read manuals. GOOD DAY SIR!!
  11. Thanks for you help i guess. But you ended up being flat out wrong in all of your statements. First off, 2MCCTV is an excellent site. I just called them up personal. They were extremely nice and helpfully. Even a fellow CCTV forum user,"SEANHAWG" can vouch for them. Secondly, you were way off on your pricing. I got the Samsung SHR-8082 for more the $300 less than what you proposed. Good day sir.
  12. Thank you SOOOO MUCH!! You are the first person on this site that has actually helped me with trying to peddle your own product. I appreciate your honesty and effort. They actually are an authorized samsung dealer and their dvr comes with a 2-year warranty!! Thanks again!
  13. Awesome, I am glad to here some affirmation on Samsung DVRs. I was going to purchase it from 2mcctv . I read website reviews for 2mcctv. Most reviews were stellar. I was told by a member on this site that 2mcctv is an unauthorized dealer and that the Samsung manufacture warranty would not be granted. Is this true or malarkey? If you know of any "authorized" samsung dealers please pm me.
  14. The Nuvico AL-800 8 Channel Digital Video Recorder looks pretty awesome. I am not sure if its better than the Samsung SHR-8082
  15. To avoid this malarky just PM me any deals! I would appreciate it!
  16. I read website reviews for 2mcctv. Most reviews were stellar. Here is a link to the reviews http://www.google.com/products/seller?cmi=9628878730035200&q=SAMSUNG+SHR-8082&hl=en&ei=y-WOTJjSFonQ2ATLseitBg&sa=X&ved=0CB0QlQgwAjgA . I was unaware that they are not "authorized" and the manufacture warranty would not be granted. I will call them for more information regarding that. Regarding the 30 fps per channel. I am probably setting my standards a bit high. I am no cctv guru. I have a small liquor store. It's about 1000 square feet. I would like a standalone 8 channel dvr that offers an excellent image resolution and remote viewing. I currently have a lousy DigiVue-425. Here are the stats. 17. [edit by mod-store link removed] has it for $1,161 + shipping. I would'nt mind spending a little more. I would appreciated any suggestions! Yes, I created another thread due to the lack of responses in the other thread. I am surprised by the lack of help on this site. Everyone that helps seems to be pushing a product they are affiliated with. Like I said ..I am looking for something that has a great track record. I just want to to set it up and forget it. I don't trust these no-names for long term use. Exactly. If your are a sales man CCTV_Suppliers at least match what I am asking for. Any other suggestions?
  18. I am not interested in megapixel cameras. My budget is $1000. I am looking for something that has a great track record. I just want to to set it up and forget it. I don't trust these no-names for long term use.
  19. Hey Guys, I have an small liquor store (approx 900square ft).I currently have the a DigiVue-425 with 3 cameras. I have been happy with the remote viewing feature. But I am disappointed with the resolution of the footage. I am running it on an old P4 IBM. I would like to know more about my card. The pro's (if any) and con's. I would also like to setup a camera outside in the back. I need all the advice I can get! A list of reputable dvr and camera retailers would be great ! Thanks Here are the DigiVue Stats- • Inpute Signal - 4 Video, 1 audio input (with Sound Card) • Display fps - 60fps/NTSC per card • Record fps 60 fps/NTSC per card • Display Screen 1 / 4 / 6 / 9 / 10 / 16 / 25 / 33 / Full Screen • Audio Input 1 Synchronized Mono (from Sound Card) • Color Adjust - Adjustable Light, Contrast, Hue, Saturation by Individual Camera • Resolution - 160X120 / 240X180 / 320X240 / 352X288 • Record Mode Event - Continuous / Schedule Recording • Compression - Special MPEG4 Format, Frame Size: .1K~2.5K, 1200hr~4000hr / 80GB • Audio - One Channel using Sound Card • Multi-task - Monitoring / Recording / PTZ Control / Remote / Backup • Motion Detection - 16 Zone X Multi Area for each camera • Storage - HDD / VDRAM / CD-RW / DAT / MO / ZIP / RAID. 20. Thanks a bunch. Happy Holidays!!
  21. I think i was unclear with my first post. The digivue stats are just for the card. Aren't the following stats mights low ? "• Display fps - 60fps/NTSC per card • Record fps 60 fps/NTSC per card" I didn't give you guys my camera stats.. so here they are.."4-9mm varifocal lens and 420 lines of resolution . 22 built-in IR LEDs and a special shielding eliminates IR reflections . 0 lux minimum illumination when IR is on . Includes 12V DC adapter . Indoor Wired: Observation & Security: Cameras - Color CCTV".I thought my cameras were decent. Should I get a better DVR CARD? If so, What makes a better card? Do I need a better graphics card? I am using the built-in Intel Video Card? Is my computer the problem (Pentium 4 Xp 500 mb RAM, 3 ghz)? Should I try a standalone DVR?? Ideally I would like to use my current cameras. Sorry for the barrage of question. I am just lost and desperate for better video quality. Thanks
