Washed out night vision on new camera

Sorry. I meant LED mounting assembly as was mentioned in an earlier post. Here's a picture of the camera as mounted. I even went so far as to add black electrical tape to the frame where there might be a reflection. Perhaps the elevation is too low to get the view I'm trying to achieve and the camera is moved to far up in the enclosure. It's of no use to me if I can't see more that 20 feet in front. -

I gave up on trying to make the camera work. Even tried adjusting the position of the LED as was suggested but to no avail. Thanks to all for your advice but I'm sending it back. -
Washed out night vision on new camera

Well, I took Soundy's advise and checked the gasket around the lens to make sure it was installed and that it wasn't leaking light into the lens. It was installed but I removed it and placed an additional gasket from my broken camera just to seal it tightly. It seemed to help some but I still have a problem as shown by the attached image. I contacted the distributor and they said I was getting reflection back from the LED bouncing off the casing. I don't know how that could be since the LED is centered at the bottom of the camera and is unobstructed by the casing. Since the camera is installed under a white overhanging eave is there a chance it's reflecting off of that? I'll try re-positioning the LED tonight but I never had this problem with the bullet camera that was used previously. -

Thanks, Matt. I'll report back on what I find. -
I have had this low end residential system for about 9 months, installing it last fall when the weather was cooler. Although the daytime images remain crisp, since this summer I've noticed a foggy image on my cameras. I've cleaned the lens but it doesn't seem to help. These are bullet IR security cameras- 3.6mm 420TVL. Are the IR illuminators crapping out or do I simply have condensation in them? If condensation, any way to remedy that? Thanks for any answers you might share.

Thanks. It's weird because I have cleaned the lens to no noticeable effect and then seen it clear up on its own, leading me to believe it's related to condensation. We have had some of the wettest weather in a long time and the humidity has been through the roof. Couple that with the cheap Chinese cameras they installed and I think I've found the culprit -- our weather.

Here's my attempt to upload the images. Thanks for any insight you can give me.

I had a security camera system installed recently but can't manipulate the menu from either my computer console at home or through the DX Client Netviewer connection. The version of Netviewer Client software is 2.7.1 but the Firmware is version 2.6.8. A friend indicates I need a firmware upgrade. Is there a way to purchase other software from sources that will give me full functionality if I can't find the current software source? The unit that was installed eludes manufacturer identification but the documentation that came with it says R901N and the name on the case is CIB -- an obvious pass through distributor for Chinese made goods. The guy who installed it can't get any help from the distributor he bought the hardware through. Thanks, Phil

Yeah, it is clearly a no-name import of dubious quality. My niece owns the company that installed but does mostly security systems -- motion detectors, door contacts, etc so I should have asked more questions before buying the system. Anyway, does anyone think there is a way to different software that would allow me to manipulate the controls or am I doomed to a "view only" future?

Just had a camera/dvr system installed by a guy how knows nothing about the IT side. The low end system is supposed to allow me to access the controls over my computer or remote locations but I can only view the cameras as they are selected on the dvr controls. Phil

Mike: Thanks for your thoughtful response. I checked all that out and those elements seemed to be in order. We had a holiday party the other night at our house and a guest offered to diagnose the problem given his experience in the field. He surmised I need a firmware upgrade. In the menu for this unit there is a Firmware Upgrade item which we tried to access with no success. He suggests I try to figure out the manufacturer and see if I can get upgraded or compatible software. It has a USB port which should facilitate the upgrade but the unit manufacture has yet to be identified. It says CIB on the front and the model is R901N but that hasn't turned up any sources. Phil

I tried to send you a link but I'm too new to the forum to have permission. If you return to the USA Security site, the 4th button on the left side lists 9 CH DVR KIT. Click on that and the dvr is identical to those shown in the photo groupings. It's a 500 GB unit.

It carries a brand name of CIB and the instructions I have for installation are marked with the following: R901N DVR. The client software is something called DxClient Netviewer. The software disk says it version 2.7 but the screen indicates it's v. 2.6.8. I found out they bought it online from a place called USA Security Store. I called the outfit and it turns out it's just some guy from China who imports these things. He never called back when I asked if the client software had any enhanced functionality or if there was a higher version that I could acquire. Can I purchase client software from some reputable source that might work on this thing or is each software application unique to the specific hardware? Thanks, Phil
