  1. Hi, Is this pic any good? the colouring seems wrong, the yellows are too yellow, the brick red seems to be too much and theres a rainbow on the back right roof which isnt actually there. its a ptz dome, the camera is a sony fcb-ex480cp using a gv800 with 720x576, pal_b, 1024x768 screen res, with the camera settings of slowshutter, icr shot, iris, focus and wb set all too auto, BL off. The brightness/contrast/sat/hue etc are all on 128 default. The pic is taken from its furthest zoom. Its rg59 sia coax, with cat5 as signal over prob 15 meters. The previous dome was lower spec with better pic, but was the same build type dome where i just untwisted the old head and put the new one in, and altered the dip switches to the same... The previous allowed me to alter day/night mode on the cameras menu once inside the 64 preset menu, but this one doesnt allow me into the menu at all. the guy who sold me the camera says its the below spec... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270577008821 1/4" SONY EX-view CCD 520 TVL resolution Minimum Illumination 0.01 Lux (F1.4) ICR on. Switches to monochrome at less than 2 Lux using IR cut filter. >50dB signal to noise ratio 4.1mm to 73.8 zoom lens I dont have this problem with the other dome. This pic just seems poor for any type of camera.
  2. Hi, Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but im sure someone's going to enlighten me. I have a Bosch ltc0610/11 box camera with a 8.5-50mm lens, also a ltc0455/11 box camera, a normal 480tvl internal dome , bosch ltc1464/11 dome all without builtin IR. I have a cheap low res £20 dome with IR 10 led's, a 520tvl res dome with 20odd led's, the higher res has a better pic of course... I also have 4x derwent uniflood 20's running full power.... and a few £5 12v 40led's illuminators from ebay, both at 850nm. My question is, when i put any illuminators next to any of the non-ir cameras, they dont do virtually anything, cant see any better at all, so i thought that the illuminators i have were faulty... so i bought dif psu's etc, more lights, anything to make it better... but no joy... Then i put the IR's next too any of the cameras with builtin IR's and apart from narrow angles, it lights up like christmas! So there way nothing wrong with the illuminators in the end... So why is this? ive played with all the settings on the bosch cameras.. and the ones with builtin IR's dont have any menus.. So then i wonder wether other people have the same type issues and when you see big box cameras with big external IR's wether the illumination is any good? Or where am i going wrong? Thanks
  3. Morning... A smallish machine that ive used with a gv800 16ch with 6 cameras on motion, v8.33 With a 300gb HD i get at d1, smart framing, about 30 days or so. The machine cruises at around 40% when geo is logged out and around 60% on live viewing... Works fine, never slows up, uses xp pro sp3, put 2 gig of ram, all the chassis is removable and the components without using a screwdriver.. The 3 or 3.2ghz HT ones are the better ones, it will take pci cards sideways, has the internal space for the card... I added a nvida agp card too for the graphics, cheap 64meg one. It has internal IDE drive of your choice, if you fitted a second u'd have to remove the dvd drive, and prob use a external usb. and the basic cheap machine is a compaq d510 or dc5100.. like ebay item:170489659959 i paid £30 for one, its amazing what nothing can get you! I wouldnt use this as a pro setup but it does work, and its the smallest ive seen, and there quiet as anything..
  4. Hi, i bought this joystick and it doesnt have a make or model number, nor any instructions, i have the power side fine, just not the rj45 sockets and 9 way... there should be 2 pics below. Thanks
  5. Hi, i have 4 uniflood led ir illuminators with no psu's... i have looked at two posts on here which were still trying to find out about... i was informed that to achieve the 50w at full power the lights need 12v 4 amp, which i bought a psu to try... http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/glb1248-240v-transformer-amps-watt-p-2131.html?osCsid=c63841caf7ba446e4929cf53e92424c4 it does work, but will have to wait till dark to test power and range... but the light and heatsink are very hot after 15mins of use... is this normal? i know on a lamp version it prob will be hot, but what about the led version? looking at the size of the heatsink i guess it should get hot... Anyway does anybody have a clue if this psu will do? or do i really need the derwent psu v2 like the manual says?

    gv900 v7.05 i think ptz

Hi, I have the gv900 where i upgraded the software or most components to 7.05, my problem is i cant find a way on the ptz controller to access preset 64 to get my menus up without plugging a stick into it... i had a gv800 and i was able to goto advanced menu and get a keypad up to type in any preset number... Is there a update or am i missing something on the older 7.05? Also a quickie... i have a basic spec ptz external dome which in either day or night mode is good, but on its transistion to switching into night, the focus is always slightly out, which means it records blured, on the software or stick its only one click to focus but unless im there every night to do that it seems a waste... every setting on the camera is on auto. Thanks. Paul.

    ptz camera upgrade?

Hi, below is a link and specs of the dome camera i have, during the day the pic is great, but at night as expected that its not a clear as id like, can i change the camera for a higher spec? with more features? During the day i use it to read number plates at 5-10 mph motion within a car widths road... at night it stuggles, how do i reduce the grainyness and reduce the headlight of a car so i can read the plate? distance is around 50 metres, i have street lights for lighting only, its never unlit, if my own eyes were any good, then i could read the plate from the distance i need. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CCTV-Security-Pan-tilt-Zoom-External-PTZ-Dome-Camera_W0QQitemZ260539848276QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CCTV?hash=item3ca9629654 Effective Pixels 752 ( H )× 582 ( V ) Image Sensor 3.6mm(H) × 2.71mm(V); 1/4inch CCD Video Out 1.0V[p-p] / 75 Ω( BNC Port ) \ Resolution 480TVL S/N Ratio ≥ 50dB Min Illumination 0.3Lux/0.01Lux Focal Length f3.6-97.2mm Zoom Rate 27× zoom Focus Auto/Manual Iris Auto/Manual White Balance Auto Back-light Compensation Auto

    ptz camera upgrade?

Hi, thanks for the honest responses, i paid £104 for the camera it was my first ptz to play with so the quality wasnt so important at the time, rather than the want to learn at cost effective way.... now im looking for better, which based of what you guys are saying isnt too hard..... So im looking for a camera which has better night vision, able to deflect the car headlights but not darken the whole image... Ive seen ptz camera for £500+ and look at the spec and on the paper they dont always seem much better than the cheaper cameras, although i do apreciate that with the bigger prices you generally get the bigger brand makes with support and UK or same country based with good(ish) dealers etc... and the quality of some of the imported goods arnt just slap dash... i know its a mine field looking unless you deal with a good dealer and get to test products a learner like myself would never really get that choice.. Although price isnt the biggest factor, quailty and spec is but both must meet rather than spend £1000's on something that could be as good with a different brand. Hope you work out what i wrote.
  9. Hi, i have a computar h16z7516amsp 7.5-120 tv zoom lense and a VT g06z12 lense both have atleast 4 wires, reg/yellow/green and black, i know its for zoom and focus and i can more the lenses with 9 volts, both have auto iris cables plugged into the camera, what i was wondering how to control the lenses, is there a converter from rs485 to this lense? Sorry for being bit thick, the best way to learn how it all works is to buy things and stuggle then you tend to go through most of the common problems and have to ask or search to find the solution. how to control the lenses? computar

22 people have looked and not 1 person seems to take the time to answer, which is no doubt a simple question....
  11. Hi, I have a idvr4000 interface with my 8ch hv4000 drv card, the card was a £45 jobbie from ebay item 320447750127, for the job at home its a good card with good spec for no money.... But ive played with the interface of a 16ch secuinfo card thats show in one of the stickys on this board showing GUI's and was wondering weather i could get it working with my card of if anybody knows of anywhere in the UK where i could source the cards... Ive looked into my drivers for the card and the post of running diff software with dif cards and dont think mine is compatible at all. I cant afford to buy the pricey geovision cards and dont think the interface looks anygood from a customer point of view..
  12. Hi, Ive always wanted to know what spec cameras are on the UK motorways? some are fixed and some are ptz, also what cameras do they have as their ANPR setup? Also how are the motorway cameras setup? where do they go back too? how are they wired? Thanks

    Geovision or eSunstar

480fps divided by 16 channels is 30fps per channel, why would you want above 30fps at high res? are you looking to fill storage space?
  14. Hi, the image quality issue is on preview, the settings for record are d1 640*480, with highest quality... out of interest, whats the best way on cat5 to create the earth for vid and power? is it better to have it at dvr end?
  15. Hi, Ive use 2 types of cameras for my basic setups, a internal dome, 1/3 had sony ccd, 550tv lines, 470k pal pix colour, and a external dome version with IRs... same spec... both running 4-9mm but set at 4mm £80 spec cameras I use cat5 using 12dv on 1 pair and video on another with no baluns, of runs below 40 meters or so... The images during the day are better, i understand at night these cameras arnt really upto the job and i accept that part... but the last 3 installs have no ghosting, no image destortion etc... but there never sharp as id like. All the settings on the hardware are set to the highest with countless amount of hours playing... Im quiet happy to buy hardware to test and to make a better solution for the customer... These have been plugged into a basic £250 dvr, also into a 8ch alien pro dvr, and now a HV4000 series pc dvr card. All were plugged into a 22" pc monitor running the highest res. im thinking that its maybe cable, but then ive tried it with 2 meters of rg59 or rg6 and still the same... Could it be cameras? i know this is a amatuer type post.
  16. Hi, i Have installed a pc based dvr system 6 internal domes and 2 external, into a chip shop, the external are 420tv, 1/3, 3.6m which is fine to view their car park, it has low light so some pir floods might be a idea... but the customer had a trailer stolen and although the camera picked out the car and people etc involved the camera of course couldnt read the number plate... which wasnt really a issue on installation as the customer didnt want to spend the money.... so like alway after the incident.. im thinking at a height of maybe 3 metres direct facing to the entrance which is 1 car width wide, put a NITE-DEVIL TRAD IR CAP 5-100MM LENS camera in? the pc system would only need to record the plate rather than analyse/read it... Would this camera be suitable? ive been told poss upto 40mm lense for the job? Thanks
  17. bit more info, the distance from the camera to the entrance would be 20 metres max
