Agreed, personally I like the KT&C KPC-E700UP4. The cone feature greatly helps for concealment.

$4k for a professional install with 15 cameras and the equipment you mentioned seems like a heck of a deal.

If you want cameras that will reliably trigger when someone is inside then go with a VideoIQ solution.

I've had two customers recently who both have Verizon internet at their locations. Since Verizon charges an outrageous amount per month for Static IPs, both asked to have their DVRs set up with remote view with DDNS. The first was a Qvis Apollo DVR which I'm pretty familiar with...never had an issue with networking before but couldn't get it networked using NO-IP.com. It worked when I input the IP address on No-IP but as soon as the IP address changed, the DVR failed to update. I called tech support but they couldn't figure it out either. Next case, I have a DVR that the customer bought at SuperCircuits. Machine is less than impressive to say the least but SC claims the dvr has DDNS that will work with DynDNS. So we set it up, and it worked until the IP address changed (again fails to update). Called tech support for assistance and again they couldn't figure it out. So my question is, do these dvrs actually support DDNS? If so, any advice on how to proceed? Thanks!

You could just put a VideoIQ encoder with a PTZ camera and be done. We recently did this for a quarry and it works great.

Yes they both do and I entered the correct info in both, but they still fail to connect and update.

As long as you have mobile broadband coverage in the area, yes it is definitely possible.

I've bought a number of the Dahua 2MP domes. I'd rate it one of the best bang for buck cameras I've seen yet.

Gadspot IP cameras - anyone have experience with them?
need2shave posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I was looking at options for some lower cost IP cameras for the price sensitive customers. I ran across Gadspot's website and was wondering if anyone had experience with their IP line. Prices look pretty amazing even for a low end IP camera. I haven't found any demo clips however. Anyone have experience with them or their CMS? Website says the CMS also works with Axis and Panasonic. Any feedback is most appreciated. -

I haven't tested one yet but will report back when I do. -

Reconyx makes similar cameras for security applications. Might still look a little odd hanging on a wall though... -
Security cameras for new construction home - seeking advice

CNB makes a 600tvl camera in a smoke detector that we use a good bit, Quality images not great in low light though. I prefer concealing my own but if that's not an option, the CNB is my off the shelf choice. -
If you are there please PM me your company info and website as I have a contact who needs an assessment/install for a commercial site.

We use Cradlepoint for one of our covert applications all the time. It is the low price model CTR35 and works well. Buy the router, and plug a 3G/4G modem from your desired cell carrier into the router. You'll need to network the router (may need to enable DNS). Of course, you'll need to pay for a data package from your cell carrier. You won't be able to watch the system live all the time or you'll quickly eat up your data allotment...which is why I'd pair it with VideoIQ.

Quick question for those familiar with VideoIQ - I was thinking of putting a CNB PTZ camera paired to a VideoIQ encoder. If I do so, will the IQTrack program pan/tilt the PTZ to follow a target of interest with no human input? Thanks!

How is cell service at the location? I'd look at a VideoIq camera with a 3g/4g router. Set the parameters to email clips when intruders are detected, at least you'll have that if they do get to the camera.

I'm looking for a supplier who sells concealment devices for surveillance applications - utility boxes, etc. I don't want a configured system, just the concealment so we can build our own system. Anyone know where to buy these? Thanks!

If you want a really low profile camera, check out CNB's DSL-20S.

Trying to solve an issue and could use any help available. Here is the issue: A site wants CCTV which is remotely viewable. The customer already has a Sprint Mobile Hotspot at the site and wants to use this to establish remote connection with the dvr. We planned to network an access point to the dvr to establish this connection. The issue is, do Sprint Mobile Hotspots allow port forwarding and will they allow the amount of data that is required to stream the video? We contacted Sprint and they said you can't port forward, but the device documentation indicates otherwise. Has anyone used a Sprint Mobile Hotspot for this application before? Thanks!

Where to buy concealment devices

I'm looking for various options such as a utility box that can hold a camera, dvr, and battery. I just thought I'd check to see what if anything was readily available. If there are no suppliers, I'll just do it myself as TWG suggested...appreciate the feedback! -
Where to buy concealment devices

I'm in the U.S.; western PA to be precise. I've seen the configured systems concealed in utility boxes, transformers, etc. I don't want the configured system (I can build that myself for a much better price) but I've been unsuccessful in just finding the shell for sale. I'm always looking to expand on the covert systems my company utilizes, and would like to explore options for future projects. We do our own concealments for various systems, but I'd like to explore options for pre-made shells. I haven't found any vendors here in the U.S....so I'd be open to buying from across the pond if you have a recommendation. Thanks! -
DVR advice. Recording CANNABIS plantation Q

You could always use a mobile dvr...then you'd have the option of adding a broadband card with an internet connection and get a real-time feed of when the gardener is on-site. It might allow you to catch him in the act. We use a Servision MVG400 for covert applications extensively, and are pleased with the performance. -

Would you have the ability to bury the system? Two deep cycle marine batteries wired in parrallel, housed in a pelican case and buried with a mobile dvr. Cable to the camera....should get you a few weeks. Or something like this with additional power... http://www.safetybasement.com/Undercover-Law-Enforcement-Surveillance-System-p/px-sb-uci001.htm -
