Training on building covert video concealments
need2shave posted a topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Hello, I'm looking for a training provider who puts together a high quality course on building covert video concealments. Would need to be open to private security firms...any recommendations??? Thanks! -
Networking through mobile hotspot - Sprint????
need2shave replied to need2shave's topic in Computers/Networking
No it isn't govt. IP address is Dynamic so we'd have to use DNS. -
I recently saw Q-See is offering professional grade dvrs which record at 30fps at D1 resolution on each channel. The 16 channel dvr is the qt526-1....anyone know if this is a dahua dvr? If so, do any other dahua distributors carry it?

Anybody have any experience with AVS Uriel Systems Inc DVRs - Atom, Apollo, or Titan? How do they compare with some of the other dvrs out there in the same price range such as the Mace SQ series? I'm also interested in any feedback on their cameras... TIA
-
Good to know...AVS told me their dvrs were made in Korea but I'm glad to hear the units are identicle. Thanks!

I'm looking for a mini PTZ camera recommendation. I need something with greater than 10x Optical zoom and something as small as possible. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Needs to have pelco D protocal, rs485 of course, and 12vdc preferrable. Thanks!

I'm looking for a recommendation for a rugged camera for use on a train. I've found Axis IP camera but am looking for a comprable analog camera...any recommendations? Thanks!

Dima, I currently use the MVG and am happy with the performance although I don't use it while a vehicle is mobile. I'm interested in learning more about the CVG-M, can you send me prices? Also, how does the video compare when streaming between GMS and the broadband cards? I've heard the broadband cards function better...have you found this to be true?

Is there a service that can enhance photo
need2shave replied to gtxkid's topic in General Digital Discussion
We have a firm on the books in case we need to have video enhancement. I'd be happy to forward the name of the company if you PM me. -
I've only used the SerVision models so I can't comment on others. I know the SerVision will provide gps and allow remote view in real-time. They take a usb device not a gsm sim card. For those that have used both the usb broadband cards and gsm based mobile dvrs - have you noticed a difference in the streaming capability? Do the gsm models stream video as well as the broadband devices?
-
I've used SerVision's mobile dvrs quite extensively - both the old IVG series and now the MVG. These are remotely viewable via mobile broadband cards (I use Verizon). I'm very pleased with the performance. If you have specific questions that you'd like answered, please just let me know.

I've used the Mace SQ80 and am very happy with its performance.

I'm planning to do a surveillance system install for a friend. I'm planning to run all the cameras (10) to a 16 channel DVR. The client however wants four monitors in the business also. He wants to have all 10 cameras on the monitor and then have the ability to select a camera to go full screen also. Is it possible to do this with just a monitor (I was thinking you'd need a laptop or other interface device to select a camera to go full screen)??? The dvr has a BNC tv out port and a vga port. Given these two ports, I take it I'd have to use splitters (a splitter on the BNC port and a splitter on the VGA port) to send video to four monitors, right? I also thought maybe a better solution would be to dedicate a laptop to the surveillance system. The laptop would have the interface software and also utilize a Matrox triplehead2go to send the video to three monitors. I've never used a Matrox triplehead2go however and am not sure if it would work....anyone have experience in this type of siutation? If there are any other solutions I'm not thinking of, I'd certainly appreciate any insight. Thank you!

Since many of you have also installed security alarm systems, I was hoping for a recommendation. I've installed a number of wireless systems (visonic) but am looking to put in a wired system. I've found Visonic's wireless systems very user friendly for programming. I'm looking for the same in a wired carrier. I'm considering DSC, Honeywell, and GE. Any recommendations?

Wired Security Alarm System Recommendation
need2shave replied to need2shave's topic in System Design
Thanks. I've heard DSC can be a pain for programming if you're not experienced with them. I've installed a number of Visonics but from what I've researched, they're programming is a bit more user friendly than most of the others...so I'm not sure how much my experience with Visonic will transcend to Honeywell or DSC.... -
Wired Security Alarm System Recommendation

Thanks. Are the programming instructions pretty straightforward on these models for a DIY'er? -
Hello, I've been using Servision mobile dvrs (IVG series) for awhile now but am looking to upgrade to a mobile dvr that has D1 resolution. I'm considering Servision's MVG or Geovision's mobile DVR. The two seem to be about the same price. I'm leaning towards Servision since I'm very familiar with their client software but wanted to check with others who may have experience with these brands. Any feedback would be most appreciated. Re: Geovision, how easy is their software to navigate? Is it easy to download video? Can you download to .wmv? Thanks!

Mobile DVRs - Servision or Geovision???
need2shave replied to need2shave's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Thanks. Does it also communicate with broadband cards...I didn't see this in the description? I was looking at the Geovision and Servision models since I need mobile dvrs that are remote viewable/controllable in "real-time". Also need 12V and RS485... -
After researching this further, looks like me doing the install may not be advisable. If there are any s-licensed CCTV installers in Boston on the forum, please send me a PM. Equipment will already be in hand, but would like a quote to do the install. I'll give more details in a PM. Thanks!

I have a friend who lives in a state where CCTV installers need to have a license (Massachusetts). I'm planning to visit him and I was going to install a video surveillance system in his restaurant while I was in town. I'm not licensed in his state however. For all the pros out there who live in licensed states, I take it doing a DIY is not an issue correct? If it is, could my buddy just hire a licensed installer to inspect the work to make sure it adheres to code? Thanks!

same cameras on all the monitors...thanks!

Hello all, I own a Servision IVG400. I use this dvr in a mobile environment via a verizon wireless broadband card. My problem however is the broadband card has a dynamic IP address, and in order for me to access the dvr remotely, I have to go through a proxy server (which has a significant time delay and often cuts out). My question is, can you use DDNS with a broadband card? If so, any advice on how I go about setting this up? I registered with NO-IP (which is supported by Servision) but I still can't connect to the DVR. I think my issue might be determining which IP address I list with NO-IP etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
