Happy turkey day to all, I myself like to eat ham, not a fan of turkey.

of course that is very true, but when you are given a certain budget to work with, and bidding against 2 other competitors on a job that would land you almost half the state's apartment buildings, you tend to do your best to get the foot in the door if you know what I mean.

You should also look onto STI housings if looking for cheap, I have used them in the past with no problems, only thing is that they are heavy as hell.

I looked into it and I loved it, but it's way out of my pricerange. Thanks anyway

I-View Stand alone DVR ?
Securitymaster replied to ak357's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
The units that I have seen are honestly pretty good, and I-VIEW has one of the best remote functions available for any DVR that I have seen. Their main drawback is the video search, is generally useless and it is kinda of confusing at the beginning. Also to set their motion recording it's a little tricky, since you have to enable a schedule to run it. It's not a bad system at all, one plus about it is that it now has three different compression methods, Wavelet, Mpeg4, and Mpeg4I, similar to geo's own mpeg4 format. -
a battery to power cctv 12 v. cam
Securitymaster replied to blowrabbit's topic in General Digital Discussion
Hoe many amps would the batery have to be? I don't want to shoot a 12VDC 20A battery into a camera and fry it. -
Decent performance, that's all that I can say.

Man, I've seen people putting silicone all over the cracks on the domes, without thinking what about in the future when they need to open that dome up.

CPSE 2005 (China Security Show)
Securitymaster replied to cothew's topic in General Digital Discussion
Well, in CHINA, the local manufacturers are considered top brands, while here in the states, you know who the top names are, and unfortunatelly, they like to take their sweet time to adopt new technologies. IP cameras are the trend here in the US, but after hundreds of installations, I haven't installed one. TO be honest, it's going to be a long time before people start faning away from PC based DVRS. It's the features that is has, and I have a lot of customers who I recommend either a GE or Sanyo stand alone, and they don't want it, I even had a couple who think that it's "COOL" to have a PC acting as their recorder. The other thing is that chinesse manufacturers have to make more reliable products to import into the US market, because for what they are charging for their products, they should be producing top notch products. -
You might want to check out the Samsung GVI website. http://www.samsungcc.tv/Default.aspx?TabId=87#149 But unfortunately, you are not the first to make the mistake of buying this unit, I cannot stress enough, CCTV means Security for one's person and property. That unit is very problematic, and so far, I haven't heard of anyone that has been able to hook it up online. Maybe there is a member here that has had better luck with this product that can give you better insight.

I'm going to a sort of expo that they are having on friday, and I will see for myself. I'm going to be down in NYC that day anyway.

I honestly think that it's a lot. I mean, for a home use, and only 4 cameras? I can honestly think of couple of configurations that could be used, and that probably get better results anyway. That Pelco DVR is not that great.

it's 2.29 over here in MA

Guys, there is one thing that must be though off first. The gentelman is in Nicaragua, which means that 4000-5000, is more realisticly 20,000-40,000 in cost term.

Securitymaster replied to blowrabbit's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Yes man, The major Casinos in Las Vegas is what I'm talking about. -
GV from Samsung are no good, but one member here says good things about mace cameras. You might want to look at Provideo if you are looking for cheap, but there are other alternatives. Just read the forum and you will find a wealth of information.

sanyo tiger vs. ge dvrme-ct16 ??
Securitymaster replied to blowrabbit's topic in Digital Video Recorders
The only thing ( I could be wrong) that is the difference, is that the TIGER is certified by most gaming boards for use in casinos. Don't know about the GE. -
Maybe is all of that GHETO Fabulous that I have been hearing about the bahamas!

Outdoor Camera Setup (Rookie-Need Help)
Securitymaster replied to pitz0005's topic in Security Cameras
Sorry to tell, but it's all the same, EVRFOCUS, VIDEOALARM, and almost all of the cheap OEM housings are made by 2 companies in taiwan, YOKOTEC is one of them.
