That is what I was thinking today when I looked at the camera, but nowhere is there a setting for "electronic iris", or something similar. This is the pic that I have now: I'm looking for the manual now. Thanks for all the help.

It's a older ALNET card. 30fps total card. Got to find out what compression is using.

Ok, it's now 3 am, and here is what the pic looks like:

Hey buddy, I have been doing security installs for over 10 years. I'm asking because like almost everyone here, we don't always have all the answers, so we rely on others to share information and learn something new. I mean, there is a reason GE sent me this camera as a BETA.

The only Hermin Sanchez that I know in this area has been in Jail since last year. I know of all the scams that he was running, which created many problems for some of us (installers) back then. So to re-answer your question, My name is Robert Santiago, not Hermin Sanchez. And I wonder how you came to the conclusion that the cctvkings.com is owned by Hermin Sanchez? When in the WHOIS registar is listed as unknown, because I have it set that way? BACK TO THE TOPIC AT HAND: It's now dark outside, here's what the pic looks like before it switches to Night mode: I have it set at a schedule, from 6AM to 6PM on Day mode, 6PM to 6AM night mode. I hope this helps me out.

Haven't tried that camera before, but it looks like a much better option that what I posted for your application.
-
Nope. I'm Robert. I found a setting that let me change the image mode to WDR and opened the shutter speed to 160. This is what I now get: Much better improvement, but I still think that a better lens would be the ticket. I'll wait to see how it looks tonight and will post image. Thanks for the help.
-
Thanks!! I'll go and try that and will post results.

I would go with a Wide Dynamic camera, looking at the front door and getting hit by the sun makes the people look darker than the rest of the image. Look the Ganz: http://www.cbcamerica.com/cctvprod/ganz/cams/csmount/csm_pdf/ZC-YHW701N%20CS906.pdf Then I would pair it with a Computar lens, model: TG3Z3510FCS http://www.cbcamerica.com/cctvprod/computar/vari/vari_pdf/TG3Z3510FCS.pdf

I just bought a domain name: cctvkings.com I made a logo that I put on the index page to have something there. Then, the first thing I was told is that the crown that I used represents the Latin Kings, a "organization"(gang) from NYC, and was advised to change it. What do you guys think?
-
I used some chinese made ones, and they worked OK for the price, but my Fav. is Tamron.
-
Ok, I changed it. Same crown, different colors.

Chance-I Display problem.
Securitymaster posted a topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Ok, so I got this problem: I have a Chance-I DVR card, 120/120 16CH. PC: P4-3.0--hyperthreading disabled. 512-ram 400GB Hard Drive MSI Board, Intel 915p chipset ATI-X1300 256mb PCI-E Video. Problem is a strange one that even Chance-I cannot understand. The system main screen shows a black screen when you hook up a camera to it. We tried everything from reinstalling the software to changing the card itself. But no matter what, if a camera is hooked up, even 1 camera, all I get is a black screen. But here's the kicker, the damm thing records the video, if you go into the camera settings, the preview window shows the image, and even if you logg in from the internet, it shows the video. What I did to work around it was that I installed the network client on the actual server, and it worked!! So can someone help me out here? thanks. -

There is a way to download the software thru their FTP, talk to this person, and he'll tell you how. jamesou@iview.com.tw -
I have seen some debates over time about the proper piping that needs to be used in order to do a residential building install of CCTV. Some say use EMT, while others say to use PVC. I'm in CT, so what is the standard? Local building inspector said that he really doesn't know since local code doesn't mention CCTV. Thanks.

rory, if it's the one I think it is, then it will run it fine.
