Look at the COVI EQ-1000, it's going to set you back around $600 for the camera, and another 100+ for the 1/2" megapixell lens that is required. www.covitechnoligies.com

I use those OEM housings all the time, and I don't care what anyone tells me, I am in CT, where temperatures reach -2, and we get 60-80inches of snow a season, and I still have to have a camera fail because of the housing.

Sorry man, never heard of them. A lot of manufacturers do not release the specifics of their protocols to the public, I know that BOSCH is another one that does that. -
which computer of mine would u use to setup a standalone dvr
Securitymaster replied to joshoowa's topic in Computers/Networking
You can only use the Dell P4, VIA chipset has issues with the majority of DVR boards. I would use the biggest hard drive that you can get, or get a bigger one. The problem with determining what hard drive to use for the amount of time that you want, is that different boards use different compression methods for recording video. I would suggest for you to choose a DVR board and then start thinking about what PC and what components to use. FYI, you need a separate video card, nothing integrated if you want the best possible picture. -
Westchester wants a low voltage licence if you are based there.

Couple of Questions
Securitymaster replied to infringer's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Come on people, BUILD A PC FOR THE DVR CARD. Do yourself a favor, do a search of this site, and READ READ READ. Generally, prepackaged systems, from manufacturers like dell, in my opinion, being an installer for so many years, do not work great with the DVR cards, youre best bet is to go to your local computer store and have them build you a system, that's based in a intel chipset board, I myself prefer MSI board, tons deployed, none have give me problems. -
Well, to start, 1-3 years in jail, or 5 years probation for first time offenders (most of the time) You algo no longer are allowed to own a gun, your life becomes hell everytime you do a job that requires background check, I believe that is $25000 fine, and a few other non plesant things. But most of the time they drop it to a class A misdemeanor, which is up to 1 year in jail, and a $10,000 fine, but get to keep your gun.

I'm trying to install CTU Linux on one of my machines. In this Machine, I got 2 hard drives, 1 is the primary C, 40GB, and the other is a 400GB SATA Drive for data. I am trying to install to EITHER drive, choosing to keep all partitions and use existing free space, and I get an error that says: could not allocate requested partitions, could not allocate partitions as primary partitions. Help?

Can someone help me identify the following DVR card: Thanks

I have used the Toshiba IK6400 for some major projects where the bottom dollar was a concern. I must admit that while is not a true day night, it does however perform excellent for the price. Color reproduction during the day is beautiful, while the B/W mode at night is good for most cases, just don't use it where the is very low light. Send me a PM and I'll show you a link so that you can see them in action.

Netpromax PAIN
Securitymaster replied to Modell's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I would say any of them, they are generally good with their support, and there is a couple of members who use them, the thing is that try to exhaust all venues before dumping the card, if everything else fails, I can tell you one thing, go with Video-Insight, it's a great system for the price. -
help required evaluating Axis 221 day/night camera at night

Rory, I say time after time and again and again. You have too much time in your hands dude. -
NO. I say that a wholesaler should just stick to that, a wholesaler. Reason is the following: A customer from let's say, your area, Boston calls asking about a particular product, instead of passing the customer to you, I go and make the sale, how would you like it? I distribute a lot of equipment, but I do it overseas, Latin America to be exact. But I don't do it here in the US, it's just not ethical.

I don't think that if it was even USB 2.0, it would be fast enough for 4 cameras running at 30fps each.

Most cameras have a screw or hole for the mount on both sides, you sure that yours doesn't have it? -
