Ok so my dad has hooked up with a psycho and she is being evicted next week. We know she will be coming back to the house during the day without us being there. She has no job and claims she has nowhere to go... On to what i need. I will be putting a new security system in the house and will need around 3-4 cameras. One to look up the driveway and 2 to look at doors.; This is a 7600 sqft house so running wire might be a problem. Any suggestions on cameras that could record using my desktop and have somewhat good clairty???

I have some areas i would like to cover around my home. I would like all my cameras be HIGH Res and around 540+ TVL I will give specs and descriptions to best of knowledge to help out. I would like all cameras to be either white or Silver Back Porch: Camera will be looking at a door and also the ONLY entrance up on the back deck. The camera will be seeing an area approx 10x10 and will have motion lighting but will need IR just in case Side of House: Will be looking at the Garage doors: The camera will be seeing an area approx 30x30 and will have motion lighting but will need IR just in case Side of House looking at Gate: This camera will be looking at the entrance gate into my driveway The camera will need to see an area approx 10x10 but needs to see over 150 foot away and will not have any lighting so IR is A MUST! Downstairs: This camera will be inside downstairs The camera will need to see an area approx 30x30 wide angle and have IR. also the lights will not be on at any given time. If there is anything else i need to add in here please just let me know and Thanks for the effort you put into this. -
I am looking to find a good camera that will stretech out to see my barn at roughly 600ft away??? any suggestions
-
yea i am not finding any luck on the 600ft range of having a well lit area at night I can say that my 200 ft camera looking at my gate does pretty well.
-
i had this same problem from installing a heated camera in a Freezer at a local hospital.. I tried anti fog spray, unplug heater and other things... i found that a bullet camera is the best thing in a situation like this...
-
thanks for the reply... i will probably need to be seeing around a 50ft wide span..Any suggestions on type of camera now??
-
he did say that it wasnt completely focused due to the rain... but i have to say i use a decent DVR along with these cameras and love them.
-
well i just purchased VBM-24VF and have to say I LOVE this camera for the cost. I installed this on my house and haven't been happier since. Now i will recommend you get a DVR that will actually show the quality these cameras put out. I have 3 of these and even in low light conditions these cameras produce great quality... alot better than any IR camera.

So i am thinking about using this Low light Dome camera at my house(outside). The cameras will be around flood lights that are dim at night until movement is scene and that's when the flood lights brighten.. Do you think these are somewhat good cameras for my application or do you have an alternative. All opinions are greatly appreciated This cameras value is around 180. So if you have an alternative please stay around this mark up to 250 dollars. Can i please get some ideas on a camera that will see at night and be around the 150 to 200 dollar mark and still give good images. (i know the more money the better image but this is what im working with) I have searched and searched and there are so many crap cameras out there and i am afraid i will end up with one. Anyone with experience with the 150 dollar range cams got any suggestions? I was looking at this particular camera for my gate that is roughly 150 ft away. Is this camera sufficient or no? This is the LTS High Power (Google it and you will see what I am talking about) Features: * 1/3" Sony Super HAD CCD * 540 TV Lines, Sony HQ1 * 8 Pcs. Hi Power IR LEDs plus 22 Pcs. 5mm LED * Japan Canon 8.0mm - 40.0mm Vari-focal Lens * 0.01 Lux @ F2.0 (0 Lux IR On) * IR Distance 60 - 80 Meters (180FT - 240FT) * Weather Proof IP65 Rating * 12V DC, 1500mA (IR On) Now i need 3 other cameras... Can be dome or bullet and hope they can be white or silver if possible. They need to cover an area around 20x20 and so I am thinking a lens around 3.6mm. Need to see at night but will have flood lights helping at night time or i could move the cameras further back and still run the 6mm vari focal whatever is better for me to accomplish. Thanks Shane or can i get some legit sites that i can look at cameras in my price range to pick from and be legit

Can i please get some ideas on quality cameras for my home.
pearlite TL replied to pearlite TL's topic in Security Cameras
I will check out some low light cameras but as i mentioned before all cameras except for downstairs will have sufficient lights. The motion lighting near the cameras will be dim at nights giving adequate light but as motion sets the flood light becomes bright so i would still get low light but i know the lighting will be adequate. other than your exview do you have any other suggestions. I would like a couple different options -

viewtopic.php?f=19&t=17732&p=105493&hilit=before#p105493 Check out these megapixel images, top images are "HIGH Res and around 540+ TVL" and the lower images are Megapixel. Click on the images to see the full res images. i know first hand what megapixel looks like as my friend has them in the college he works in and i cam to see. I like them alot but i do not need that much. i would like to stick with analog and just have the best picture that way but like i said i just wanna spend around a 1000 for all 4 cams -

Thanks for your advice on everything. I guess what it all boils down too is i would like to record the activity going on around my house. The DVR i purchased is not a hybrid and i do not care to do a megapixel camera. That being said do you have suggestions on the types of cameras that would be suit this system?? I am not looking for PERFECT but at least of some value. What is the best i can do for my house to where i will feel comfortable about it. The house is already equipped with every window and door contacts, motions and a monitored system. Cliffs: house is fully secured now Would like to have a camera system i can watch from the condo or just at home that has very good quality images and will last. -

i understand where your coming from. No just 1000 in cameras. The DVR has already been purchased i am just needing cameras now. I must be getting the wrong outlook..... are you saying i shouldn't go with high res cams and just go with some mom and pop stuff or what. Im confused??? I own a dealership and had some good cams installed there and just so happen i had someone steal a truck from the detail shop and they happen to walk by the cam and got a good face shot and we found the culprit. I guess that is why i choose that route. -

Cameras are being installed just for the simple fact i have friends today getting things stolen from their house or their neighbors getting broken into. I live in a very good area and haven't had any problems but i wanna be ready when it does happen and in today's society theft is up! i pretty much live at the condo in the summer and would like to keep an eye on the house when out of town. I don't see a reason to have cameras if they didn't identify a robber or anyone else. Seems pointless to me. That is why i chose to have high Res cameras I am looking to spend around a 1000 or less on 4 cameras Am i right or wrong on this and is there a different approach i should be seeing? -
Hey Everyone i am a new member here and have browsed the site and have found valuable information. I am a member of a car forum and know that searching is key so i did before i posted this. Hope eveyrone has a Merry Christmas. Alright so I am looking to do a 7 camera system and was first looking at my options on a DVR. i see many folks here use the brand Avery and then i also saw Intellicam and Swann etc. I am looking for a 8 camera dvr Will need networking with added feature of DDNS Mpeg 4 as my backups will be local and reviewing will only be when im at the condo in Florida i wanna watch my house at times. 30FPS per each channel would be great I wanna look at around a 1000 or less for the DVR and around 1000 for camears that would put me around 2500 dollars for my camera system. Could i get some advice on the perfet system for my house
-
Very good information. I suspect most cameas will need to have an IR distance of at least 60 foot. Except for the one downstairs inside. I also will need one to look out roughly 150 foot to watch my Gate. I would iike to have the highest quality recording rate and at least a 540TVL camera that when someone is lurking around the house i will see a face and not some scribble. Could you give me some examples of cameras that you have used that work great for you (like a spec sheet and model of camera on a website) that would help me out a lot. I understand about the Christmas and I hope Santa treats you well as you have helped me a lot so far. i wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS and will look forward to more knowledge on this. Oh and by the way that would be cool for the HIGH RES on good ol Rudolph

WOW i really appreciate your opinion! I am looking to do 1 indoor camera and 6 outside. All need to be IR . They will be motion activiated and will need to be at least 540tvl. Is there any recommendations you would like to give on 7 cameras that would fit my budget? I hope im not msising anything here but back lighting i think would be a plus in this situation and auto irs too. Thanks you for taking the time. What model Intellicam DVR would you recommend me?
