    INTRODUCTION

I joined the group not long ago, but waited to make my introduction until I'd had a chance to read more posts and get a better feel for the group. I have been happy to see that not only is the forum quite active, but that the members seem quite diverse in their practice, as this leads to very interesting discussions. I appreciate what appears to be a general policy of courtesy mixed with a healthy shot of straight-talk. I hope I will enjoy here a lot and be here for a longer time. Cheers.

    GRAPHIC CARD ON MOTHERBOARD

Hi, I didn't find an appropriate place to post this thread so I am posting it here . I am planning to buy ASUS M2N-MX SE motherboard . The specification says that the motherboard has inbuilt GeForce 6100 GPU. Now what I want to ask is having inbuilt 6100 GPU is equivalent to using a 6100 Graphics card with a Intel motherboard. Secondly what will be the good choice of processor. Also can you tell me the games which will run effectively with this motherboard. I am not planning to buy a separate graphics card . Thanks a lot!!
  3. Hi All, First of all I apologise if this is not the right place to post my query. I have a DVR 921. As we know capture cards currently only have s-video for the best option for video in. The DVR 921 will downconvert any Hi Definition signal to 480i & that is how I watch the Hi Definition channels. Although I can't say much for the quality on the SD channels the downconverted Hi Definition channels are excellent except for TNT. If one switches to anything above 480i the DVR 921 only sends those signals out the component or DVI output, so you don't get a picture on those modes. Getting to my question "In Focus" sells a Component Video to S-Video or S-Video to Component Video & they state "Compatible with 480i signals; not for use with progressive signals." If I were to purchase this adapter would it allow me to watch the 480p,720p or 1080i signal via the s-video? And would it damage anything? My next question is whenever I capture off the downconverted Hi Definition signal (480i) it is displayed letterbox 16 x 9, but the captures are always 4x3 why is this? Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks, Trevor.
