EagleEyes by Avtech iphone/ipod touch app HELP
IPCAMERAMAN replied to uniquer's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
All hardware is different and the IPOD touches are still in beta form Apple. So not everything will work the same. Simply make sure everything has latest firmwares and you should be good but of course you will see that different devices such as IPOD via IPHONE will have different issues. Stick with the best such as IPHONE as the IPOD's are not fully desgined to work via the WEB. -
Actually, there is no one answer to that question. How do you define "best"? Best for what? Best to whom? No single machine does everything. Only you can determine which is best FOR YOU. You mean, like in cable TV? I've never ever seen one that has that capability built-in. Main reason is probably because there's far too much variation in what's needed to integrate it, it would be cost-prohibitive, if not outright impossible, to build in the capability to work with ANY cable system.

Vivotek IP7138 Factory Defaulting
IPCAMERAMAN replied to mindware's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I dont know the exact specs but i think that if you are trying to access a camera using standard hubs/switches that you can only pass through about 4-5 switches before signal is too weak. In these cases you want to use fiber. I know that there is signal drop every 300 ft but i know there is limitation on how many switches you can pass through. Anyways i dont see the poster responding so i think we resolved issue. Add me as friend so we can help more peeps on issues like this!!! You have alot of good info 40th floor and same hardwired... lets keep this up guys. We can help alot of people here. -

sanyo dsr-m810 video download error
IPCAMERAMAN replied to keemble's topic in Digital Video Recorders
it could be the size of the file your trying to archive. I know many softwares that will not allow you to create a AVI that are larger than 1GB. How big is the file? -
This should help. If not please send me PM and I will get from Sanyo for you! http://uk.sanyo.com/support/CCTV-Support/Software-2/

Vivotek IP7138 Factory Defaulting
IPCAMERAMAN replied to mindware's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
"Using a where's my camera applet won't do anything more than he already has done. If the camera is assigned a static ip on, say, 1.2.3.4 and his network is on 192.168.0 then it won't ever see 1.2.3.4 (or anything not on 192.168.0). Nothing short of a reset to factory defaults will do this. You could call in an IP camera psychic detective, but they are hard to find." Depending on the manufacturer this is true. However Vivotek uses a smart search feature that will not look for the cameras IP's but more along the line of the cameras MAC id's so even if your not on the cameras same ip (e.g your computer is 192.168.1.? and the camera is either 169.168.7.? or even 10.0.0.? the software will still be able to find the camera. Many major manufacturers search via MAC id's now such as Vivotek, ACTi and Arecont Vision. However new features that are now starting to get implemented into IP cameras are that the camera's will not be able to be found after 5 minutes of operation such as the Panasonic I-PRO camera series. Vivotek has not started using this feature yet. Contact us should you need assistance as we are very familiar with Vivotek. We will be happy to help you. -

Why dont you just load the Vivotek utility IP finder and search for the camera. Vivotek software will still find the camera no matter what and then you can login via the IE browswer and factory reset the camera. Call us should you have any issues. -
Are these IP cameras or Analog? I have seen this with ip cameras before and usually doing firmware upgrade will fix issue. If analog cameras then your only option is to upgrade firmware for Standalone DVR otherwise it means that the capture card device is going bad.

Strange internet problems, even for a seasoned tech
IPCAMERAMAN replied to bpzle's topic in Computers/Networking
Are there mulitple NIC's on the system. Usually having 2 gateways on 1 system and not having them bridged will block internet access as it doesnt know what gate way to use. If using 2 or more nics only 1 nic card should have a gateway while the others have only IP and Subnet. -
Check out CCTV.net. We can help you decide and give you demos of all softwares.

When this happens there is little to do. Unlike PC's you cant remove the battery and hope that it resets password. The only option you have is to contact manufacturer and ask for master password. Sometimes they give it sometimes they dont.

Sounds like a grounding issue. Make sure all devices (Camera/DVR) are grounded. You may also want to try a ground loop isoloator.

DVR Card and Software Recommendation
IPCAMERAMAN replied to CKKwan's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Have you thought of using a standalone DVR? -
Scorpian has the right idea. Simply google the model and you will find the least expensive system you are looking for. Peter CCTV.net

There are few options for DVR's. If you are looking for a DVR that has all the bells and whistles then a PC based system would be the best option as they are compatible with both IP & Analog cameras and the software manufacturers are always updating and coming out with new features. However PC Based systems that are running Windows as the OS are known to have more issues than systems running linux. Now Standalone DVR's are striclty for analog cameras only. These systems are much more stable since they are running an Embedded Linux as the OS however they are limited to what features are availabe. Standalone systems are less expensive than PC-Based systems. It really depends are where your budget falls and what type of features and cameras you are wanting to use. If you are wanting basic features such as Remote monitoring via internet, email notifications, motion/time-lapse recording and overall just simplicity you may want a standalone DVR. However if you are wanting to use IP cameras in the future PC-Based would be better recommmended.

You got it buddy. For all cameras that i have seen that allow you to adjust shutter speeds i have always seen either 1x, 2x, 4x and 1x is = to 1/60. Peter Duffy cctv.net

EagleEyes by Avtech iphone/ipod touch app HELP
IPCAMERAMAN replied to uniquer's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
You must be using eagle eyes for the CPCAM product line. I recommed that you ensure that you first have the IPHONE updated to the latest firmware available. I have tested the eagleeyes software on my phone here w/our DVR's and it works fine. Make sure you backup your phone information first before updating to latest firmware. I know it works on older firmware 05.11.07 as that is what I have on my phone. Peter Duffy cctv.net
