  1. By "firmware" do you mean being able to control devices like PTZ cams and such? I am kinda "the novice" here.
  2. Thanks Rory: I have read a little more into this thread and discovered your other posts concerning this very same issue. I have downloaded the uploader utility from the GE website, and as I understand, will need to install the program on a computer and send via network to the unit once the new HDD is installed in order to remotely connect? Am I correct in my analysis so far? I have five of these units. I had to send one back to GE due to a problem connecting to the unit via the network. It took three months and $900. to correct the problem. They didn't change out the mother board or anything else as far as I can tell as I marked each component in some way. I am assuming it was just a software prob. Three months later it did the same thing and GE basically said screw you, send it back and we'll repair it again. No wonder their stock is in the tank. 3. I have a new Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB Hard Drive - 7200, 16MB, ATA-100 laying around that I keep as a spare. Thought I might use that if possible. The unit originally had a WD 1600 RE installed. I have had no luck in finding one of those or even the specs for one.
  4. I am going to attempt to install a hard drive in a CT 16. I can't stand the thought of sending the unit back to GE and wait three to four months to get it back and be charged an arm and a leg for their service. Does anyone have any idea how to do this?? Thanks in advance, Mike
