ok i need help setting up cctv remote viewing on eircom broadband.. first: i went and done the usual ipconfig got ip,subnet and gateway 192.168.1.1 / 225.225.225.0 / 192.168.1.254 so went to dvr and set local ip to 192.168.1.122 went to router and opened ports 2000,8000, 8080 and 9000 as per dvr checked ports on yougetsignal.com and canyouseeme.org all said open. so checked dvr locally using laptop connected to the router entering 192.168.1.122:8080 worked perfect. then went to the clients house and could not connect. tried both the software that came with dvr and using web browser. went back to dvr location tested on site no problem. so called supplier and was informed needed a "public IP" at a cost of 50 euro eircom supplied it to the client. went back today to change setting now i cant get any ports to open. so i now have the dvr set to the new ip 86.44.88.197 sub 225.225.225.0 and gateway 192.168.1.254 going into router i tried to open the ports as listed above on all 3 ip (86.44.**.** / 192.****122 / 192****254) nothing. contacted eircom their "tech" said they cant help with portforwarding and i should go to protforward.com where to get the router to open ports will now cost a further 30euro.. am i missing something?? ive searched the web on remote cctv and eircom and not one post mentions a "public IP" they all say just find a ip in the isp range thats not been used by pinging it (how i got original local ip of 192.168.1.122 please help im on verg of pulling out what little hair i have left

ok so got called to a client whos installer has gone. he has a eovision 16 channel sysytem with 11 cameras however only 6 are showing. on flying lead 1 (blue) ch1 -4 and ch8 on flying lead 2 (black) ch11 so i tested each camera individually with a test monitor all are working. so taking a ca moeras from a non viewing channel to a viewing channel its also working so the cameras not the issue. going into setting: all channels are active and all channels are configured the same. when i go to camera set up and say on channel 10 the camera shows in the set up window but not the main window. Also if i disconnect a camera from a viewing channel i get video loss text but on other channels only have a geovision logo. i cant figure this one out. what am i missing??

customer has signed up just in early December and yes he was charged an extra 50 euro to get a static ip.. im gonna reset both router and dvr back to default settings and start from freash now that i have a clearer idea of what to do.. i had a feeling that i was on right track originally

If it is a static IP, you need to enter that along with the other information they give you into the router setup so it uses that IP - IP, Subnet, Gateway, DNS. they gave me no information at all were very very unhelpful infact. they could not even tell me why i now could not open any ports when i could before they ave a static ip.. eircom techs my a**

ok so if i have this right here are the settings and what i need to do: static ip: 86.44.88.192 isp ip: 192.168.1.1 sub: 225.225.225.0 gateway: 192.168.1.254 DVR local ip: 192.168.1.122 ports i need: 2000,8000, 8080 and 9000 (to be opened in router settings) router port forward settings: 1 active, dvr, open-2000, close-2000, ip- 192.168.1.122 (not 86.44.88.192 or 192.168.1.254) 2 active, dvr, open-8000, close-8000, ip- 192.168.1.122 (not 86.44.88.192 or 192.168.1.254) 3 active, dvr, open-8080, close-8080, ip- 192.168.1.122 (not 86.44.88.192 or 192.168.1.254) 5 active, dvr, open-9000, close-9000, ip- 192.168.1.122 (not 86.44.88.192 or 192.168.1.254) finally using the dvr software or web browser i enter 86.44.88.192:8080 to remotely access dvr noting that if im using IE i need to enter http:// first thanks for your help

ok so i was right using 192.168.1.122 as a local ip then opening the ports to that ip in the router control panel. the new "public ip" 86.44.88.192 is a static ip ( the ip i was told i would have to use to access the dvr remotely either with the remote software or through web browser.. this is correct?? ie in browser i would put 86.44.88.192:8080 ???

I purchased a Deeplet DVR from a local supplier, and have had nothing but issues with it, since it has been put in. The DVR constantly keeps powering odd and on and off. I contacted the supplier and he maintains its to do with the power to the cameras. Camersa are powered beside the DVR with individual power packs and are connected for video via RG59. longest run is less than 15m with the shortest runjust over 5m. Can anyone shed light on this problem or what the supplier is stating??? Thanks.

I really need some help or advice on this ongoing issue. The DVR is a Deeplet DM-1604H. the supplier says its a camera/pwoer issue. so i checked voltages at each camera and have a reading of betwwn 11.8 and 12.01V. Then the supplier said it was a ground issue so i checked voltages on each RG59 cable: 1 between inner BNC pin and outter BNC i got a reading of 0.06 volts. 2. Between Earth of socket and outter BNC i got readings of between 2.01 and 2.05V 3 Between ground of DVR and Outter BNC i got similar readings as in (2) All BNCs are grounded and i am also using a surge protector between DVR and RG59. When i disconnect Cameras the DVR remains on. i just cant figure this out. Also i am getting "HHD1 failure" quite often. Please any one got any kind of advise on this?? both my self and home owner are on verge of pulling out our hair. thanks in advance Shane

i installed a few IR cameras 480 and 520 lines, but at night the IR cameras seem to show a blizzard effect in foggy conditiond and makes viewing almost impossible!! is there any one who can shead some light on this problem?

Yea i agree it is hard to find things, finding a good supplier at reasonable rates is almost impossible!!!! Hence we are now setting up a wholesalers in the midlands to serve the country, we are in talks with reputable suppliers/manufactures in Taiwan and Korea. and have as now a good deal with suppliers in the UK to beat prices of the rip off merchants!!! Online store almost complete!!

Thanks for all the advice. 1. Yes i now agree i will not go back to all-in-one IR's anymore. i was pretty sure it was the IR light reflecting off the fog and was pretty sure it was unsolvable with out changing the cameras. 2. if i use a seperate illuminator (for example a IR flood light with 60m range) would i still not have the same effect of the light reflecting off the fog back to the lens?? I hate spider web issues!!! I have installed SO CALLED day night cameras/domes inside but when lights are off picture is black, thought these were supposed to be able to see in the dark?? thats the best LUX value? currently using between 0.5 and 0.1 am now thinking of only using 0.001lux cameras depending on the advice i recieve. one last thing, lenses, which is better a 2.8mm or 6mm (yes im still learning!! ha ha)

Hi, im new to CCTV, own a security company here in Ireland, we mainly supplied and installed Automatic gates, but with recession this was a luxury. moved to CCTV and access controls. having installed a few systems mainly stand alone i hit the usual bumps along the way. my current problem is i have a generic bt878 4ch card installed but cant get any software to run on the pc. the clients pc is running xp but his hard drive is labeled H:// the software that came with the card automaicly tries to install to C:/ and does not give me an option to change the install location. i cant format and reinstall windows thus relabeling the hard drive to C:/ as the client has files and accounts on the pc. just incase it helps its a home application with 2 cameras. and if possible a free basic software to get me out of this prediciment. hope some one can help he has been waiting 3 days for me to finish the job. thanks in advance for any help Shane.
