Do you have an adjustable Iris? If so check it. I had a camera that produced a bad picture, someone messed with the iris, now it looks great.

Thanks guys, my board looks nothing like the DD53KIT. That DD53KIT looks like it mounts inside of the camera. I must be thinking something different. The board I was thinking is mounted by the fuse, in the back-box itself. it is labeled VT1500WDM-PELCO Integrated Video Transmitter with Reverse Data for Pelco Spectra™ III . I just called Pelco and they recommended I do just what I was going to do, swap the camera with another camera and see if the problem follows. I would then be able to see if it is the back-box or camera, if that makes sense.

Hi all I just got some Pelco cameras and some of the lens have what appear to have smudges or small spots on the lens. I dont know if they are finger prints or what. (If you have ever tried cleaning a Plasma TV screen you know what I mean) I dont know if there is a coating they put on the lens or not. I dont want to wreck the lens? What is the best way to clean them? The spots may or not hurt the quality I dont know. thanks

Hi all. I have a Pelco Spectra that I will be instaling shortly. My run is about 75' to 100'. What are my options here and will I lose quality on one verses the other? camera has PTZ. So I was thinking of a molded coax cable with power and audio and cutting the ends off the audio to use for the PTZ Tx+ and TX- . If I were to use Cat5 or Cat6 instead would I lose any quality? and if I did use Cat5 I would have two small wires for power two small wires for PTZ and two small wires for video and would have to use Video Baluns. It just seems to me that I would lose quality this way verses a coaxal cable with seperate wires. Am I correct what is my best bet or options? Thanks for any help. Mike

Thanks Matt and Hardwired, I dont want to beat a dead horse but I wont be back in the Keys for 6 months, so I want to do things right the first time, but now I am confused, is the cat5 with a seperate 18 ga power wire (that would be two seperate cables) better than a good quality 18 guage 6 conductor all in one shielded wire? and if I do use the 6 conductor wire are two Baluns the only way to convert two of the conductors to a BNC connection? The wire will be exposed outdoors in the hot Florida sun so I was kind of thinking the heavy duty 18 ga might hold up better than cat5 but I dont know. Thanks again and sorry for the rookie questions.

Thanks guys I just found a full spool of 18 gauge 6 conductor stranded shielded wire, my camera will be in the Florida Keys so I dont think my heater will come on to often This is some really good quality wire. Would I be ok using this with baluns to convert to BNC connectors? Thanks Mike

Thanks Soundy, you are always really helpfull, so you think my best bet and cheapest way is to go with cat 5 and 2 baluns? also I should have mentioned I am using a Pelco power supply 24 VAC. That small cat5 wire will handle that plus video and data for PTZ? Thanks again Mike

Well, not inherently "worse". If your set automatically stretches 4:3 images to fill the screen, they'll look distorted, of course (most can be set to NOT stretch, instead leaving black bars on the left and right sides). It CAN look a lot worse on cheap sets that do poor stretching/upscaling. Also on alot of displays when you use black side bars you will get screen burn in, but if you are only using the monitor for 1 use I guess so what. You can still get burn in with grey side bars just not as quickly.

Pelco DD53C22 can only get black and white

Thanks all, I just got into the camera menu and under system information it says pelco spectra III DD53M22 (this is a monocrome only camera) while the sticker on the camera says pelco spectra III DD53C22 (This is a color camera) I called Pelco and they told me the camera could have been mismarked or someone servised it and put the wrong plate on it. -

Hi, what is pelco coaxitron exactly. I have a Pelco DX4500 and a pelco spectra II and a spectra III. My understanding is if you use Pelco-D or P Protocol coaxitron hook up you do not have to run 2 extra wires to to TX+ and TX - and to RX+ and RX - to control pan, tilt and zoom, that if runs over the same coax run, is this true?

Thanks for the info, my camera is only about 150' away from the dvr so I am trying to figure out my options with my equipment. my other thought was to use an all in one ready made video cable with an attached power and an audio and cut the end of the audio and use the 2 leads for TX+ and TX- to control PTZ if that makes sense then all my wires would be in one molded wire. Would that be the best bet or is there another way? Thanks again gentelmen. Mike

I thought most better quality cameras with Heater/blower required 24V .

Hi all new here and hoping for some good advice, thanks in advance for any help. I have a vacation home in the Florida Keys that I would like to monitor my dock, I will have 1 outdoor camera that I would like to monitor from my home in Wisconsin. My DVR is a Pelco DX 4004 series, and I just bought a Pelco Spectra II PTZ Hi-Res Color Security Camera 128X Model: DD5BC on E-BAY, my question is I have to buy a back box and dome enclosure for the camera. Will any of the spectra enclosures work, say a spectra 3 or 4 or do I have to find 1 for a spectra ll. also is this camera a good choice? I wish i would have found this site before I bought the cam I know I will have to buy a 24v power supply but what else will I need. I have high speed internet at my vacation home and a router already. I assume I will need A video cable and an additional 4 wire cable 2 for power and 2 for TX+ and TX- for pan tilt and zoom. Does this sound correct? Thanks Mike forgot to mention I will be using Pelco Remote Agent to view from home, I will probably use a VPN to connect to DVR.

I am reading that pelco2 cameras will fit in pelco 3 backboxs from some and others say no they will not because the pelco2 cameras have a built in fan and on the 3 backboxs the fan is built in to the back box???? Does anyone know for sure? Thanks Mike. -
