I am looking to add some additional outdoor cameras. They need to have decent day & night performance, and no IR. In the past (2yrs ago), I used the CNB VBM-24VF for this type of application. The area does have parking lot lighting. Is this camera still the one to go with? If not, can you make any other suggestions? Thanks! Josh

So, the B&W bullet cam.. how does it look during the day? Still B&W, right?

I have used these cameras in the past, but have been out of the game for a while. Is there a newer model with similar/better features in this same price range that anyone would suggest that I take a look at? Thanks, Josh

I'm a bit confused on what options I have with Geovision regarding spot controllers. I have a large LCD TV that I want to install in the front of my store and display my cameras (a grid of 8,10 camera views, etc). I have a GV-1240. I do see the DSP options in the Geovision software, but do I need an additional Geovision card to use these? If so, what options do I have without having to purchase any additional Geovision hardware? What is the best way to wire the LCD TV? Should I use just composite video out of the Geovision card, or run it as an additional monitor using VGA/DVI/HDMI? Thanks!

I think I'll run VGA to the TV and try the Digital Matrix feature.

It's a Optiplex 760 with a Intel® Q43 Express Chipset w/ICH10D (less than a year old). So, you enable the DSP Spot with integrated video - and its not sluggish?

I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that I am using integrated video (the sluggish performance when I enable DSP Spot Monitor). I may throw in a more powerful video card to see if it does anything.

Ok, got the video output working, but DSP Controller is still making the video playback/live video on the GUI very jumpy and slow. I can't figure out why - this is a fairly powerful computer. Everything returns to normal when I disable DSP. Any ideas? Also, I am ouputting to a 16:9 TV.. is there anyway to make the output 16:9 instead of just 4:3 through the spot output? Thanks!

Rory, I have the composite out of the GV card hooked to a TV, but nothing is being output over it. I also have the DSP Controller enabled (which has made all of the display video in the GUI very sluggish - is this normal?). What do I need to do to get the GV card to actually output video? Hrm, ok. It looks like this is related to me enabling the DSP Spot Controller. Is it normal for the DSP Spot Controller to reduce performance like this? This is a Core2Duo box with 4GB of RAM and fast SATA II disks running Windows 7 Professional x64.

I recently had to replace the disk that contains video for Geovision. I started with a brand new blank disk, and didn't restore any of the data. Since then, I have noticed that the video display in the GUI (on the Geovision box) is somewhat jumpy and not fluid. I haven't changed any other settings. Does anybody know of anything that I could check to see why the video display is jumpy? Thanks, Josh

Soundy, The VBM-24VF's are also suitable for outdoor use, right? The only difference is that the VCM comes with a flush mount in addition to the surface mount? Thanks

I need to mount several of these to a drop ceiling (standard ceiling tiles in a commercial type buliding). What is the best way to do this? This may be a silly question, but I have never mounted a dome style camera. What will I need to mount them? Thanks, Josh

Thanks for the answers, everyone. Soundy -- since I don't yet have the cameras, I can be flexible here. So, you use the anchors above the tile, and screw the screws in to them through the tile.. you aren't actually using them like traditional anchors? I'm still pondering.. VCM or VBM.. it seems like it will be easier to mount the VBM's since I don't have to worry about cutting the holes and flush-mounting the cameras. Would you agree? Thanks

I'm looking to buy 8-9 cameras for a convenience/beer store. I'll mostly be using CNB VBM-24VF's throughout the store, but need some advice on some other models: * CNB VBM-24VF - used for the tills, and out in the general store to look down aisles, overview of store, etc. This camera will also be used outdoors to monitor things like the drive-thru, etc. It's IP rating is good enough for outdoor applications. It will also be used to monitor the back door, where there is light, but not a lot. * CNB VCB-34VF - used for watching people as they come in the front door. This is a WDR cam. I also want to place a camera in the drink cooler, which is 20 ft long, 10 ft wide, and pretty chilly. What would you all recommend for this? Another VBM-24VF? Any other recommendations? Thanks!

A GV-1120A will do 80FPS in D1 and 120 FPS in CIF. If I have 8 cameras connected to the system recording in full D1 that would be about 10FPS per camera. What if only 5 of these cameras are actually recording at the moment, and the other ones are idle? Would my per camera FPS increase to 15FPS? Is it variable? Also, can some channels of the GV card be D1 and some be CIF? I'm basically trying to decide what card to buy.. I will have 10 cameras or so, and need my video to be fluent, and not skippy. Can someone help me understand the video output for GV.. If I want to have two "spot" monitors, showing several cameras at once, can I hook one up via Composite on the GV card it's self, and one from a VGA/DVI/HDMI port from my video card? Is there a difference in what is outputted from the composite output on the GV card and what I can output via my normal video card?

I'm looking to put the VBM-24VF's in both normal lighted areas as well as dimly (or close to zero) light areas. From what I have read, this camera will work nicely in both of these scenarios. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I was actually about to order these cams (VBM-24VF) from that same website. Did they tell you that they made a mistake? I'm skeptical now.

Well, I am thinking of bumping up to the GV-1240 so I get 240FPS of recording. Some of the cameras will be full time recording, and some will be motion detect only -- I'm assuming this is possible?
