Anyone ever have any luck or any ideas on software control of checkpoint clarity domes?
-
Anyone familiar with check point ptzs in perticular clarity domes? I've had one on a shelf, but no power data server, so occasionaly I fiddle with it. I have managed to figure out the pinout, and I have an old controller but I'm unsure if it works. I can power the ptz, and get video but no control. What protocols do these use for ptz? Anybody ever bypass the power data server, or know how to configure one of these? I know checkpoint questions tend to fall flat, and my experience with the company is they don't tell anything... all properitery and are uncooperative.

How about this, anybody have an extra checkpoint power/data server? even one thats not functional?

Anybody have a clarity concept controller manual?

Panasonic WV-CS854 Pinout help!

If you are abosuletly sure which two are power, I'd suggest getting a binding post bnc connector from an audio place, or eletronic supply shop or get a female balun with post screws and a male balun with post screws and and and play around with some cat5 or whatever wire and mixing your connections around until you get a picture. If you hook the data wires as video it shouldn't hurt anything you just won't get a picture. The thing to remember is you have to try each set of wires on both posts because you need to know what is the video grnd and what is the video wire. -
I found an installation manual for this checkpoint ptz, I called their tech support and they said this model is over ten years old and they have no current info on it. The manual says to use a db9 to coax/4c breakout, I can't find any connectors like this. Can anyone point me in the right direction? (Otherwise I'm back to square one with just making my own break out, which is fine but I still don't know the pin out on this cam =/). The instructions don't list the pinout because it expects to use the break and a power/data server and video switcher setup.

Ok, these is really driving me crazy. I managed to get a hold of a clarity concept controller. Though I havn't gotten to the point where I can get data transmitting. I know I am missing something, the db9s to coax/4c connectors they use are propriatary, but checkpoint says they no longer have info on them. This pretty much leaves me with making my own. There set up basicly is supposed to go db9 break out with bnc video going to a video switcher, then power/data going to a 5 post terminal adapter which connects to a power/data server. Then drom the pds to the clarity controller. Since I don't have the pds (and don't think I really need it) I intend to still try to wire this out directly to the controller. The green/yellow wires that are looped are definetly power. I think the camera is supposed to use 24vdc, but my test have been with 24vac, this seems to get it to do a normal start up diagnostic routine. I just can't figure out if both sets of wires comming from the pin outs are suposed to be attached to a power supply or not, it kind of seems like the loops are supposed to be sending power back out somewhere but I can't figure out where or why. unles they are somehow replicating ac power to the cam by looping the power that way. Very, very weird......

Ok, I took the plunge and started testing wires with 24 vac, the yellow and green looped wires are definetly power. Connecting one set put it in a diagostic mode, i.e it did a complete rotation and then centered the cam facing down. My initial test was done with a db9 to rj11 converter, I couldn't get video but I believe video is the brown and black wires. I switched over to db9 to rj45, got the same diagnostic rotation, etc.. so its definetly getting power to the motor, my question would be now do you think it'll take two pairs of cat5 for power? Since those looped wires would assume two connections one wire of the two pairs for each pin? My 24vac psu died when I was testing I'm not sure what happen I might have accidently crossed some wires, and I don't have another one to use atm unless I cut the female end of some 24vac ps from something else.

My thought was looped data would make sense in the traditional sense for serial cables such as handshake/data set ready, etc.. but I guess since cameras generaly only recieve data that probably wouldn't be neccisary either. doubling up for power would make sense, but the looped wire just connects one pin to a pin that already has a wire and the wires are the same gauge, so its not like its two runs going to a source. I would think these loops are either sending information back to the source, or sending information sent on these pins to the same place as the other pin. I could be way off base, its just weird.

Thanks Soundy. I think the yellow and green wires must be data since they are looped. I'm not sure why video, or power would be looped to other pins.

I have a checkpoint 79348 ptz it has one serial (rs232?) port only. I want to hook this up, I also lack a controller. Does anybody know the wiring diagram for this camera or a way to determine it? I figure I would probably need a balun, but if I could get around it somehow has I don't have any local suppliers and would rather not do an internet purchase for one. I was hopeing I could do a serial to cat5 adapter and then figure out what pairs of the utp were video, which were power (12vdc), and which were control. My checkpoint muliplexer does not currently work, so I'll probably have to pass control off to the pc with some serial utp adapter also (plus software), and video to bnc on an old switch box. Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.

I came accross a user manual, sadly it does not give much technical information. Its from their clarity concept setup, a drop ceiling dome. The manual mentions use with a power/data server, and does go through the menus for the camera. I'd really like to steer around the power/data server if possible.

Does anyone by chance have any contacts for checkpoint systems that may have a clue?

If I could atleast sort out power I could probably muddle through the rest saftely, or if there was an connector or connctor(s) that I could make or buy inexpensively at this point I may just go out of my own pocket for them.

I will take some today and post tonight or tomorrow. What lind of pictures would be useful?

Any ideas on why they wouldn't use a #2 pin out, and as to what the pins that are looped together are for? Checkpoint seems to use a lot of odd stuff, and sadly not enough installers seem to be familiar with their equiptment.

a time-lapse vcr.

I have a checkpoint 16 channel color multiplexer cpk-16cd that does not seem to work, it makes a continual buzzing sound and none of the menus are functions work. If I crack open the case there is a red light that is labeled d17, but I cannot seem to find any technical manuals. It pretty old equipment, but I was hoping maybe someone around here might have some experience with refurbishing that could give some insight.

What are the dangers i face by experimenting with wire combinations to determine video and power with 12vdc?
-
I'm not using it at all currently cause it doesn't work. I did get rid of dust but not behind the button panel. Maybe I'll give that a try, I want to use it for video to monitor and for recording. Right now I'm stuck with just a switcher.
-
Power says 12vdc, which is what is being used. I've tried attaching some cables from the switcher that I know that work to the multiplexer and nothing, the power light is clearly on, also ocasionaly when its powered on the zoom button light will be on, but no menus work, etc.. video does work using the bnc in/outs but thats expected. The video out to main monitor, to vcr, and back up etc.. do not work however.

It doesn't have a bnc video, just the d9 port. It also does not have a # 2 pin. Its wires are as follows. 1 Red, 3 Yellow which loops into 5 (pin 5 has two yellow wires one looped to 3, and one to the camera), 4 orange, 5 yellow (as previously mentioned), 6 Brown, 7 Black, 8 Green looped to 9 (like 5, 8 has a green wire looped to 9), 9 has two green wires one looped to 8 and one to the cam.
