Design/Balun Question
jjsafeware replied to HairOnFire's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
Check on this gadget. it's neat and closer. http://www.safeware.ca/product-spec.php?pid=179 -
the problem itself is a bit confusing. what's the condition of the successful try? is it occurred in the office where router and cameras are located locally? what's the exact command issued in the try?

Designing wireless systems
jjsafeware replied to Ted's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
that wireless AP looks extraordinary,... to the point of peculiar. 802.11a 108Mbps Wireless Outdoor CPE according to the spec, the capacity of 802.11a is only 54Mbps, and that's nominal already. they must have done some extraordinary job boosting it that far. -
what shows that your ports are closed? maybe you should drop the tools and dig into the setting on your own. here is a step and step guidance, it might help. http://www.safeware.ca/kb-networkdvr.php

it could be true for pure wireless ones. but not for wired. appreciated if u could enlighten me with a real example.

Do all DVR's have to use Internet Explorer over the net?
jjsafeware replied to PilotGuy's topic in Digital Video Recorders
hey guys, don't get carried away by the terminologies. "i was wondering if all DVR's have this or can you get ones with built in web servers?" yes, almost all DVRs has one "http/web server" built-in. "when you view them over the Net you have to use Internet Explorer and install software for it to work" no, you an choose not to install "another" software for it to work, however, you do need to accept what IE tells you to run, as ActiveX control(s). that's how the browser is designed to work with contents that are not static html; and for video transmission, the one, or a few accept "clicks" are already the least effort you have to pay. i failed see anything crappy with that. -
it might be easier rolling back to IE 6. i don't think you can find a fix from the dvr side.

Please wait HDD scanning - Avtech 760
jjsafeware replied to redisol's topic in Digital Video Recorders
for avtech 760, don't worry about the reformat, just plug it in and it should work. -
it's good enough for a frame-based recorder running jpeg. and save u some hassle from the network setup.

r u sure that verizon modem is also a router? Normally a router should be equipped with more than one RJ45 jack. i can only see one in your photo. so it should be a modem-only device. moreover, it doesn't make sense to use two routers in one LAN. if it's for distance's sake, just turn the second one into a switch or hub. port-forward means forward traffic from router's public IP address and TCP port, which is 72.xxx.xxx.xxx:80, to the DVR's private IP and TCP port, 10.10.xxx.xxx:80. though I doubt its necessity, but, to be on the safe side, add another port forward from 72.xxx.xxx.xxx:9000 to DVR's 10.xxx.xxx.xxx:9000. to see the router's setting, run IE, type in router's default private IP. normally it's 192.168.0.1, check its user manual.

connecting DVR to Internet using 3G Sierra Wireless
jjsafeware replied to lomak's topic in Computers/Networking
when all gadgets are ready and correctly configured. go to another computer with internet connection, open IE. type in the DVR's IP address. accept whatever IE told you to run, type in the user account and password. that's it. some people said it works, that's because they are doing a local test and they try to isolate the problems into smaller steps. just part of the engineering procedure. its not a working solution though. -
connecting DVR to Internet using 3G Sierra Wireless
jjsafeware replied to lomak's topic in Computers/Networking
hi lomak, u can stop the experiment now. the crossover cable won't bring you anywhere further. it stops at the computer that directly connecting the dvr. as noted in my previous post, seriously, you'll need a router. or u can install a server on your pc and turn it into a router. don't waste ur time trying out the crossover cable. -

Geovision v8.3.3 64 bit Win7 guinea pig with audio problems
jjsafeware replied to micksgonefishin's topic in Computers/Networking
don't shoot the bystander! first, in the case of IP cam, the only work the onboard audio chip does is playing back whatever it is told to play. all the recording works are performed either by the IPCam or its audio decoding driver provided by the IPCam or OS vendor. the onboard audio chip has nothing to do with the recording here. second, the play function of onboard audio is proven by the test of Vivotek's software. personally, i'll hold GV's audio record function responsible for this issue. to add some fun into this, i'll bet 10 bucks on it. anyone?
