Pelco have a range of explosion proof housings

Depends on the customer, does he want to pay for the redundancy? If so there are many options including dedicated power, uninterpretable power etc.
-
My suggestion is to call in a company to deal with this. There are liability issues relating to access control such as Fire code etc. Paying a company a couple of hundred will be well worth it.

You'll also need some 1/2 " romex connectors

Weigand protocol allows for the transmitting of unique identifiers such as facility code, site code or employee number via binary to access controllers. Varying the length of the string allows for custom set up of these identifiers.

Anyone offer any suggestions as to what's happening?

The last PTZ should be terminated -
I was thinking of a slide bar, pretty easy for the end user

Anyone offer any suggestions as to what's happening?
SDM Group replied to Numb-nuts's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I had this exact same problem with symptoms, it was caused by double termination in the system. Why I said 75ohms in the previous reply, this was the setting choice on the Pelco Genex multiplexer for the Pelco Spectra III over coaxitron. I would probably test by taking the DVR out of the equation and wiring the controller directly to the dome, while checking domes termination -
Can you record, rewind 10s then playback to the monitor

Any good Free software for CCTV?
SDM Group replied to the lemming's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
You can download software from Milestone for up to 8 cameras for free -
Can the DVR be programmed to record to external storage, might be less expensive than using another DVR, lockbox etc.

Employee In and Out
SDM Group replied to SectorSecurity's topic in General Access Control Discussion
Soundy's correct, you will need to allow for free egress at all fire exits. You may be able to do it with a long range read such as RFID and build it into the company ID badge, this would record the exit without having to swipe. Any access control software will be able to report ins/outs -
Vlado Damjanovski has two excellent books, also you could check your local CCTV Distributor for free classes offered by the manufacturers. Also with CCTV moving to the IP arena a good certification would be BICSI

A lot of software will support the Sanyo's, a few support H264 also. They also come with software, I don't personally use it. I believe it is the same software as Luxriot, but others can verify

For IP Cameras we use a POE Injector and Notebook, for analogue a multimeter and some old Sony 9" broadcast monitors i've collected along the way, there a bit heavy but for focusing there is nothing to compare.

If its for a commercial application it may need to be UL Listed to conform with code. A Vista 20 with UL Listed can would do in this case

500ft run with burial help
SDM Group replied to spreedin's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
You may be able to get a utility company to do a directional bore for the 500ft, they will do a locate service which will help avoiding hazards and make for a lot less headaches, depending on budget of course. -
Biphase is a Bosch/Philips proprietary communication protocol. You may need a Biphase to RS485 Converter. Alternatively, although I don't know your set up, you could leave the PTZ control just the way it is otherwise you may be converting an analogue signal to digital and then back to analogue to no benefit and extra expense. Please give more information if you need further assistance

CCTV INsurance in the the UK
SDM Group replied to Numb-nuts's topic in General Analog CCTV Discussion
Might be able to find a CCTV service company willing to replace on a monthly fee schedule, you could also include maintenance. Just a different way to skin a cat -
Just finished an install with Sanyo HD 3500 with Go1984 software and custom server, getting around 6fps per channel

Try www.markmercer.co.uk for a range of dome housings

Most affordable / reliable POE switch for the money
SDM Group replied to camerasguy71's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Just finished a 60 camera install with a combination of 24 & 8 port POE switches from Netgear, no problems work great -
All depends what type of compression you are using, how many fps and the quality settings. What type of cameras, IP? or DVR are you using?
