I had been running Geovision v6.0 for awhile and then finally got my usb security dongle in the mail and immediately upgraded to v7.0. I opened the multicam program and realized I forgot my password. I read the Geo user's manual and it sad something about running a reset password exe located in a file folder. I did that but it said I can't reset my password. Now do I really have to reinstall windows if I forgot my password??? Help!!!

Hello, I have a GV800 card and I need help setting up some type of remote view application so I can watch my residence while I'm at work. I have played around with the Geovision software but with so many options I am overwhelmed and confused. What would be the best way for me to remote view? What application would I use? Is there a setup guide anywhere? Here is some information about my setup: 1. I have 1 camera now would like 4-6 cameras eventually 2. I have cable modem service with 486k upload. 3. It would be nice to be able to run the remote view application on a USB thumb drive. My company won't allow me to install any applications on work pc's. 4. It would be nice if the remote view application would like me rewind to past events during the day. 5. It would be nice if setup of network is easy. I'm not a network tech geek. 6. My pc is a AMD 2000 XP with 512 ram, 250 gig HD. Thanks!

I have a GV800 and was wondering if anyone has been able to use a cell phone to remotely view their camera feeds? If so then can you point me to some setup instructions and the cell phones that work well with remote view? I need a new cell phone and figured I'd ask here before I purchased a phone that won't work well with Geovision. I am currently looking at the Cingular 2125 phone. Here is some detail about the phone: http://msmobiles.com/news.php/4691.html Thanks

What are your opinions on the Mace CAM43CIR? I have seen a couple posts about the CAM53CIR but not the 43. The thing I like about the 43 is its appearance. Since I will be installing cams on the outside of my house (under the eaves) it is important that they look like flood lights. I think the 43 fits the bill. I would like to know how it performs otherwise. I'm no expert so if the camera is decent quality (and only $100) then these should work for me. Please let me your opinion and if other cameras are out there that look like flood lights and are around $100.00 and if it has white housing that would be even better.

Based on the comments I think this camera will fit my needs...heck this is kind of like a hobby for me, I don't need a $300 camera Another question tho. I like the camera most retailers have PICTURED on their sites as the 43. So if the 43 is not the one in the pictures when what camera is that?? and where can i get it?? I like 43 better than the 53 even tho. the 53 maybe a slightly better camera. One thing that is important to me is making sure it doesn't look like radio shack exploded on the outside of my house.

I really don't think I'll have any problems with people trying to rip off my cameras. They'll be mounted high on the eaves of the house about 8-9'. Also these cameras look like flood lights so I don't think my neighbors will necessarily know what they are.

Doesn't this have something to do with the directx/overlay setting in Geovision? Try checking or unchecking it.

How can I upgrade from Geovision version 6.1.1.0, usb dongle

Your supposed to contact your distributor (the person you purchased the card from) and request a dongle from them. They'll ask you for an ID number off the card so they can match the dongle to it. -
Deleting Videos from Geovision Audio/Video Log
cctv_survivor posted a topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
In the Geovision audio/video log (the one that lists all my videos by date in a tree structure format with replay window in the center of the screen) I can click on a video and play it. But how do I delete it? I see a recycle option but I don't care about recycling. I want to delete the video but I don't see an option to do this. I am doing some system testing now and I want to delete a few of the sample videos I made. I pretty sure I can navigate to the video file in windows explorer and delete the videos that way but I thought there'd be an option to do it within the audio/video log. Thanks -
Yes, I got back in. I used the program from rory. Thanks everyone!

I'm using a different sofware version than you, so there might be some differences in the screens I mention but the explaintion should be the same. System Configure >> Camera 1 tab >> Monitor Control box If the Record Video is checked and the list box is set to "Motion" then when you start monitoring it will record all motion 24x7. There are settings that determine if it captures video from the start and after the event. Those settings are located on the General Setting tab. System Configure >> General Setting tab >> Motion Option box If you want video captured AFTER the motion event ends check this box and set the number of seconds after motion you wish to record. If you want video captured BEFORE the motion event check the Pre-Record check box and then select the arrow icon, the Pre-Record Setup window displays. Depending on the speed of your processor and amount of RAM in your computer some options on the Pre-Record Setup window may not be available. Basically, you have to divide the Total Frames box by the Frames/Sec Limitation and that will equal the number of seconds that will PRE record before the motion event. You can also set up schedules with motion capture.

I heard that if I want to upgrade from version 6 to version 7 of Geovision I need a "usb dongle". What does this dongle do and what does it look like? Does anyone have a picture of one? I guess I need to contact my distributor and buy one. How much are they usually? Thanks

I've read the manual and figured out that Geovsion can record in the following ways: 1) Motion detection 2) Record all the time 3) Day & Night schedule However can Geovision record by motion detection only on a defined day & night schedule? For example I want to record activity around my house but only at night and only when motion is detected. This seems pretty simple I just don't know how to set it up. Thanks

How to setup GeoVision for Remote View using Dynamic IP
cctv_survivor replied to radigital's topic in Geovision
Jasper you read my mind! -
rory If you are saying to run "PassUnInStall.exe" in the main GV800 folder then I have tried that. I get an error message that says, "not enough privilages". I guess I didn't check the box to allow this when I installed the first time. If you have another program that will do the trick I'd love to try it. I sent you a PM with my email address. Thanks!

cctv dude No I did not check the 'Allow Removal of P/W System'. The user manual now says I need to reinstall WINDOWS! Do I have to??? Or can I get by with a Geo reinstall???
-
andy Are you speaking of a Geovision reinstall or an entire Windows reinstall?
-
Any update?

I am talking about the main GV800 multicam program, not windows.

I am looking to setup a home surveillance system. I want to monitor each side of my house while I'm away at work, vacation, etc. Something to give me piece of mind while I'm away and.....because I love to work on DIY projects I saw the recommendation for a KPCn600-H1 camera as a "best under $200 bullet cam". Would this be an over kill for my situation? I'll be mounting these cameras under the eaves of my house. They will need to be weather proof and ascetically pleasing (very important). The KPCn600-H1 is almost too "commercial" looking for my needs. Again, it is important that when someone glances at my house they don't automtically see the cams. This camera has the look I want: [edit by mod - non retail link] Bullet Camera Color 1/3 Cmos 2Lux 6mm Outdoor 6mm lens (wh. Or bl. Case) It's very slim, small and white to blend with the eaves of my house. The only bad thing is it doesn't have IR and I bet the performance of the KPCn600-H1 blows it away. I guess I'm looking for a camera with the performance/features of the KPCn600-H1 but with the look of the one linked above. Suggestions??? Thanks!
