Yes, I tested it in the dark. I turned the light off and had maybe some moon light coming in through the window. It is pitch black. In low light it stays in color mode
-
Can any one confirm that this is correct? If so, then Thank you! This was the answer I was looking for. I didn't even know there was an output relay on the camera. How come it is not really mentioned in detail in the manual?
-
so what gives? is there a setting to enable b/w mode or is my unit defective?
-
so how does it look when you view the feed? is it a black screen over that area?
-
isn't this camera supposed to have b/w? My camera stays in color mode no matter what

Thanks, there is no way I am ever going to run Geo on an Atom, nor Windows 7 on an Atom for that matter .. that thing would be way too slow .. and recording frame rate would be so bad it would be better off I use a cheap avtech stand alone They also mention a Mini-ITX Case but no mention of the riser card required for that form factor. And a 30GB drive, a limited SSD at that with maybe max 10,000 writes .. for the video 8 cameras at 640x480 .. probably if lucky can get 4 hours out of that unless the video is set too slow. I dont even want to know what kind of XP systems they used in the past to think Windows 7 runs fast on an Atom, let alone Geo 8.33 which is a SlOW SLOW SLOW Application, I mean they really need to see an XP Geo 8.12 system in action that would have to blow their mind! I understand it is being used in a car and they are trying to keep the current draw down but Im afraid that is useless for any real world CCTV DVR application. 2TB HDD For Video 30GB SSD for OS

what kind of FPS are you getting with 640x480 x 8? what is the total cost of build?

how important is the video card?
thekuai posted a topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
With software based dvr cards? I'm currently running a cheap Nvidia 7300 series video card. Is it worth upgrading to a nvidia 9500gt or is the cpu more important? -

There are two types of dvr cards. Hardware dvr cards do all the work and really lightly on the cpu. Software dvr cards rely heavily on the cpu. It depends what kind of card you get. -
without using a bracket? specifically the cnb VBM-24VF

Panasonic 484 VS CNB vbm-24vf - Anyone compared them?
thekuai replied to nsxttt's topic in Security Cameras
the cnb has "super back light compensation" and the example picture they show is the same picture they use for the WDR cameras. Am I Right? -
if you have a decent pc get an el cheapo-ebay-o 8 or even 16 ch dvr card that claims full 30fps on all channels. So although for an 8 ch that supports 240FPS at cif you will only need 4 of the channels which will give you 120 FPS at 640x480 (double cif) on just half the channels. I'm in the same situation but I have a decent AMD phenom 2 955 based system and a 8ch 240 FPS @ cif ebay card for about $80. I only use 4 of the channels so in the end I have 120 FPS on the 4 cameras @ 640x480

my original intention is to mount it on the wall by the doorbell...but for other applications, what is the advantage to using the mounting bracket? -
why don't you just change out the lens to an 8mm or higher lens and add infrared illuminators?

how important is the video card?
thekuai replied to thekuai's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I realize that there are hardware encoded dvr cards and that they are the mainstream. However, the aforementioned cards are ridiculously expensive. Even the most expensive single core graphics card is only $500. A sub $100 card should be more than suffice. Like I mentioned, gpu's are much more efficient at encoding video given the proper software. Just a thought... -

How come no one is developing software utilizing gpu acceleration? Even a budget card can encode faster than software that uses only the CPU. Nvidia's cuda application is one such example. Even the latest version of adobe Photoshop supports gpu acceleration.I find that my aging nvidia 8800gt encodes in half the time a CPU based app can on my phenom 2 955 does. -
Splitting 4 channel USB feed
thekuai replied to EZYFlyer's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
As far as I know you can only record one channel, ch2. You could get 4 of the 1channel easycap devices. Alternatively you can download software that records whatever is on your screen like they use for making video tutorials. -

You would have to change out the cameras. You need to get a camera with WIDE DYNAMIC RANGE ccd. http://www.cnbtec.com/en/html/product/product.php?seqx_prod=994 -
