Hi for anything like a sea-port / airport / tunnels then best option is avigilon and with your budget you cant buy better. 40 ip cameras with using avigilon you may find you can get your camera count down and there software is ideal for a sea-port. 90% of ports and airports in the UK are avigilon +1 for Avigilon -
Flashing cameras, Costco, and doom for all retailers?
ak357 replied to Kawboy12R's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
You're not comparing apples to apples here. Using this Microsoft/HP, Dahua/QSee analogy: Microsoft licenses (they don't sell, they license) Windows to HP, but does not provide the hardware to HP. HP provides support for Windows as well as the hardware. Yes, Microsoft comes out with updates every month and there's a chance one could disable Windows. When this happens, HP is still required to provide support for Windows (during the warranty period) and you're well within your right to return the product back to the place from where it was purchased (according to their return policy, of course). Dahua sells the hardware, software and firmware to their resellers who brand it with their own name. Dahua does not provide direct updates to the end user like Microsoft does. If there are any updates, Dahua provides it to the reseller who, at their discretion, may provide it to the end user. The reseller is responsible for providing support to the end user, not Dahua who deals with the reseller only. So, if you buy QSee product then try and update it with firmware obtained from a source other than QSee and you brick it, then it's solely your responsibility. It would be dishonest to return the product from where it was purchased. It's not fair to the retailer, the branding company, the manufacturer or the honest purchasers of the product who ultimately have to pay more because of dishonest people who can't see the error of their ways - or just don't care. Make all the excuses or justifications you want - it's wrong, plain & simple. +1 Could not say better my self ! -

Help building PC based DVR for HIGH bandwith capture
ak357 replied to Fireball's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Yes, quality is not a bad thing. That looks very interesting, thanks for posting. I think the software might have a problem connecting to it unfortunately (if I understand the way it works - it's not very clear in the links I've looked at), but I'll run it by the software developer. You have your own soft my fault I miss it then you have to tell us what do u have otherwise we have no idea please be lot more specific -

Looking for a NVR for 4 cam setup to deply @50+ locations
ak357 replied to SmashTheControls's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Pricing is based on the need to deploy them at so many locations. Once we can somewhat standardize a setup it will be copied as many times as needed. The cheaper, the more that can be deployed. The $2,000 budget is strictly for the NVR unit. It does not include anything else like cams, PoE switches, etc. I figure with only a few minor requirements the cost per should not need to be somewhere like $5,000. It's not like I need some very sophisticated analytics. The main thing is the ability to continuously record and then provide some type of remote alerting on motion that does not rely on mail or text (due to the private lan). If the NVR can close an output I can easily timestamp that. I no longer need to have the NVR software timestamp within. that different story for about $2000 u can have mini comp soft lic and I/O board u should try both suggestions Avigilon and 3Xlogic have a look http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHblcmmCdhg&feature=share&list=ULXHblcmmCdhg -

I was going to suggest Avigilon but u will need I/O (for hard wire trigger) and then pricing u kinda little low with budget also depend how easy u want to browse your recording from 50 locations lots of people spend hours with Avigilon minutes I would use mini headless ITX or simular load LIc and I/O and u done -
