License Plate Capture Position and Recommendation
ak357 replied to dahomes555's topic in System Design
At the DVR end what is recording capture resolution ? D1 ? CIF ? Hmm, at given FOV of 20 feet you are getting only Max 36 pix per foot (D1 recording) kinda not a lot for Lic plate -

Video monitoring without electrical power
ak357 replied to FarmerCharlie's topic in General Digital Discussion
Uh-oh. Now you've got me thinking way beyond my experience. I just recently setup my first Balun for a long video run, and now you've got me thinking I.P. all the way. Guess I need to start thinking this through from the ground up. Don't You like challenges ? Where are u located Ok, never mind you are in Alabama -
Video monitoring without electrical power
ak357 replied to FarmerCharlie's topic in General Digital Discussion
Good points. I did a quick Google search for dc powered dvr, and came up with this: http://www.surveillance-spy-cameras.com/12-volt-dvr.htm It says 12 volts at 2 amps, which would come to only 24 watts. It is only about $300. Would something like this work? And do these stand-alone systems have the same sort of sophisticated motion detection I am used to on the Avermedia card? For instance, I can trigger recording based on motion just at the entrance of a nest box, and I can setup several motion zones on each camera. This could turn into a fun project. But I probably need to speak with a good vendor who can help me skip the mistakes I would probably make entirely on my own. Any recommendations? Or build small NVR ( 10-20 wt ) IP cam about 4 wt each plus switch and get better image then Analog -

Or for the same price, you can get four 1080p Cisco "Flip" cameras... easily the most superior camera on the planet. What a discovery about "Flip" why the hell we been selling overpriced IP cams when "flip" can do it all Matt whom do I thanks ? you or "aethyr" Hmm, I hope He charge customers in his martial arts school about $ 1.99 or $ 2.49 for few hours Oh, He is also programmer Hmm, may be we can hire him for $ 4.99 per hour -

Thanks Captain Literal. Yes I knew it was a 1/2.8" sensor, its posted on the description on my site. I was just speaking in generalities. Most 1/2" MegaPixel lenses will work just fine with the camera. Any pix , video clips ? -

Hmmm, good to know! I have a 1/3" IQEye 2.5-7mm MP lens on it and I get no "tunnel" effect at all (put one of these on an AV3155 once and the tunnel vision was hideous even at 7mm). Knowing this though, I can swap over the 5MP 4.5-10mm lens I have on the 755 now when I swap it for the Dahua and should get a better comparison. According to manufacture website camera do not have 1/2 " sensor 1/2.8” 3.0 megapixel SONY progressive scan Exmor CMOS image sensor http://www.dahuasecurity.com/English/product_info.aspx?type=338&&css=0&&id=4 -
