I kinda agree with you but I think its implementation of codec used by some manufactures which H.264 profile they use which chip sets are they willing to pay for h.264 lic and so on...

Yes and No As number of pixels Yes but quality could be bad too many cameras on market with the same pix count too many variables to talk about I personally like Sanyo cams and I don't like or care about night shots up to my customers to decide if u find night you like plz post just curios

I guess its depend what are they using inside "their own custom build" They may have lots of units in stock and lots of other reasons and lets face it how many "dealers" ask or know what to ask

Thats what the siren is for In movies or party if the CMS calls cant hear them anymore then if the alarm calls them .. if the police go there and nobody home they cant get into see if there is a crook in there anyway. BTW i do work for a couple CMS here but still .. I like to keep it real .. most value is when the client is out of town. But also one of the CMS i work for, they give the alarm free and the user just pays for monitoring for a year, same cost as if they paid for the monitoring only.
