adding a TV feed as a ethernet camera input?
almelst replied to ajfield's topic in Digital Video Recorders
You need an HD video encoder (like Hikvision's DS-6601HFHI). It can convert several HD video signal standards (including HDMI from your TV tuner) to IP protocol so you get the picture source acting as an IP camera. Price? It's another story ... -
I've tried some "quad mode" cameras, but it seems they are "jacks of all trades, but masters of none". Picture is considerably lower quality in both analog and HD modes than on "single mode" cameras.

I use mostly WD Purple series (avoid Blue series, can be incompatible with some DVRs), but, suprisingly, Toshiba's Deskstar (basic desktop series) works very fine too.
-
Hikvision's and many other DVRs/NVRs and IP cameras support cloud recording. Also, almost every IP camera supports sending a picture to FTP server or email in regular intervals or on specific event. I suggest using IP cameras with SD cards for local recording to minimize power consumption and cloud recording and/or FTP/email sending.

replace mains adapter with Li-poly rechargeable - possible?
almelst replied to turnbui's topic in Security Cameras
No! If yor system draws 2A current, it means that it needs 2Ah of 12V battery capacity for an hour of work. For a month you should have 30 days x 24 hours x 2 amps = 1440 Ah of battery capacity which is simply impossible. And you should have another one (smaller) to use while the first one is charging. -
HikVision Remotely reboot

Try restoring some older, but functional firmware version with Hikvision's TFTP Automatic Update Tool. -
HIKKVISION DS-7204HQHI-F1/N/A beeps on start up

Disconnect the HDD and see what happens. Also check power supply voltage. Sound you hear is a regular error sound, it's normal before the disk is formatted. -
Using a desktop image from a PC as a "camera"
almelst replied to bfig's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
If your NVR supports Onvif protocol, then there are three applications available: - Screen Onvif - DeskCamera - PC-CCTV . They all emulate PC screen output as Onvif IP camera. Unfortunately, none is freeware, but there are demo versions for testing. Other solution is hardware VGA to RCA converter, but it works only with analog DVR inputs and the picture quality is much lower than the original. -

Pulsing on Hikvision IP cameras
almelst replied to Jay1971v3's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
How long are the cables between the switch and the cameras? There is a 100m limit for PoE power supply. You can also play a liitle with camera settings in Image section (BLC, WDR, HLC ...) -
Discontinued software/Ip camera
almelst replied to blawrence's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Try with iSpy. It's an open source software. I've found that Saber IP cameras use ONVIF protocol, so there are also many other compatible CMS applications and NVRs . -
There are three HD standards (with BNC signal connections) present on the market today: HD-TVI (TurboHD), HD-CVI and AHD. Hikvision's Turbo HD is a good choice (I suggest HQHI models), but the other two do the job as well. All of them are compatible with analog cameras. If your system is more than 4-5 years old, it's almost 100% full analog. Check camera's label, if the resolution is stated in TVL (720, 700, 650, 600 or similar) then it's analog. HD resolutions are "measured" in Mpix or 720p and 1080p.

Easiest way to connection to Internet is using HiCloud P2P. Register an account using some email address, add your DVR/NVR (activate Platform Access) using verification code on Device's label ( 6 Capital letters) and that's it ! It must work on any kind of Internet connection, regardless of router settings.

Hikvision dual stream recording playback
almelst replied to almelst's topic in Digital Video Recorders
"markb", thanks for reminding me of the problem! I've checked iVMS-4200 v.2.5.1.7 and noticed that Remote Playback searches for the recordings made in the stream type selected in the Main View window. This of course works best on the devices which have "Double Stream" option in recording schedule advanced options. So, if you choose Main Stream in the Main View window, you get main stream recording in remote playback and substream recording if substream is chosen. I would prefer if stream type selection was possible in the Remote Playback window, but ... -
Yes, they will! Hikvision's Turbo HD DVR's accept both analog and HD-TVI cameras on all inputs. On some models, same technology cameras must be connected in "pairs" (channels 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 etc. must be same type) but otherwise there are no problems with mixing old analog and "new" HD cameras.

What do you mean by "... a nonclimate controlled building ..." ? DVR can work at normal room temperatures without need for air conditioning, if you meant that.

Hikvision cameras , can i use Virtual machine
almelst replied to mirror51's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
You can use IP cameras and set NAS as storage media. NAS can be set on your server. Install video management software on your PC and , voila, you have a video surveillance system. Connect your TV to PC as secondary monitor. -
Calculation for: 12 V DC supply 100 ft cable length doubled 22 AWG wires result: Voltage at the end : 11.44 V , which is acceptable. (source : http://www.calculator.net/voltage-drop-calculator.html ) So you can find some WiFi IP camera and supply it over the existing cable. In my experience, 12V supply will do fine , but 5 V (cheaper models) won't because of voltage drop.

I'm afraid that powerline adapter won't work between apartments. If your apartment is +/- one floor from CCTV room you can establish WLAN connection or make an outdoor link if possible.

Floureon CCTV home system power supply issues
almelst replied to the_italian's topic in Security Cameras
Check power supply voltage on camera side while connected (load condition). I wonder how it worked before. Small IR camera usually takes 300-400 mA which is 2100 - 2800 mA total for 7 cameras ! If you change power supply adapter, take some more powerful, 5000 mA. -
Standard check procedure: - check the camera with short signal cable and tested supply (as I can see, you've already done that) - check the signal cable (continuity test). If you use UTP and video baluns, check balun polarity. - check power supply voltage on camera side under load condition (with camera connected) - connect camera to some other channel and connect other camera to ch 1 to see if there is something wrong with ch 1. I'm out of ideas ...

hk-online ----- device does not exist

Did you set camera's DNS servers correctly? I suggest 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 . -
Using WDR (wide dynamic range) camera could help, but don't expect too much. I think that ring is not caused by the lamp post, it's effect of camera's IR light. Try blocking the light post view or covering it, and you will probably still have that ring.

Hikvision Remote access on POE ports
almelst replied to djsky's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
As far as I know, PoE ports are not bridged to NVR LAN port,so you cannot reach cameras from LAN and vice versa, can't reach LAN from PoE camera ports. Why don't you use NAS for NVR? -
You should give more information on your system: which equipment you have etc. Last few years, all DVR/NVRs and IP cameras support also P2P / cloud connection without router programming, so check your installation manual.
