I'm mostly using Hikvision's Turbo HD DVRs. They recently introduced dual stream recording (both in main and substream resolutions) in v.3.3.x firmware versions. I expected to be able to use this feature in latest editions of HIk's suveillance software, but niether iVMS-4200 (PC) nor iVMS-4500 (mobile) have such an option. As far as I know, playback stream option is available only via web browser, but only one camera. Am I missing something ? What's the point of this feature, if it can't be used properly. BTW, I find dual stream recording very useful, because it enables real time remote playback over slower connections.

Boogieman, this is Dahua , not Hikvision! I suggest upgrading firmware to the latest version, setting strong passwords (mix uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and special characters) and changing ports. Works on Hikvision, hope it works on Dahua too. This happens on systems running with default passwords and ports, no special backdoor needed. Newer versions of Hikvision firmwares do not allow simple passwords, and that's it.

Hikvision 7108-HWI-SH/SL crashes to factory default
almelst replied to almelst's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Which ivms are you thinking of: 4200 or 4500 ? I think it has nothing to do with remote app. DVR has changed its settings to factory default. Did you have a case like this? -
Hikvision 7108-HWI-SH/SL crashes to factory default
almelst posted a topic in Digital Video Recorders
Few days ago, several 7108-HWI-SH/SL DVRs which I installed crashed and reset to factory default settings. IP/TCP became DHCP, admin password changed to default, also all other settings. Interesting thing is that it happened probably the same day ,I can't be sure, because people called as soon they discovered the fault. Did anybody encounter the same problem? It looks like there is some malware on internet, specialized for Hikvision DVR. -
You should be more specific: does the picture disappear ("No Video" notification) instantly or gradually , does it fade in color and brightness, becomes black etc. ? Perhaps you could post some snapshots.

Hikvision DS-7716NI-E4
almelst replied to shehan31's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Live view resolution is practically the one set for normal recording. You can only try to set recording in substream resolution. BTW , I see no point in using 2MP cameras and using them in resolution. If you want to extend recording period, rather set lower frame rate and recording quality or use H264+ compression. -
Same thing happened to me lately on 3 Hikvision's DVRs. Two of them had default passwords , but the third one had not. It looks that there is some malicious software running around the internet.

Replace Bad DVR and Keep Existing Cameras
almelst replied to smg65's topic in General Digital Discussion
Analog DVRs are hard to find nowadays but, fortunately, all HD (AHD,CVI,TVI) DVRs are compatible with old analog cameras. You an buy any model, I suggest Hikvision or Dahua because of price/quality ratio. Later, you can also improve your system by replacing the old analog camera(s) with newer HD or FullHD one(s). -
Hikvision TurboHD DVR resets itself to factory default.
almelst posted a topic in Digital Video Recorders
Last week I installed two Hikvision's DS-7104HGHI-SH Turbo HD DVRs with V3.3.2 firmware. Both times I noticed strange behaviour: After full setup (network, time, camera resolution, recording schedule, DDNS etc.) everything had worked fine, but later , upon power restart, all settings were reset to factory default except network and user settings, same as Restore function in Maintenance menu. Of course, I didn't open Maintenance menu. I work a lot with Hik's DVRs and this never happened to me before. Any ideas ? -
Router changed and can't view Hikvision cameras
almelst replied to scgh's topic in General Digital Discussion
I suppose you access your DVR from PC using local IP address (192.168.xxx.yyy) so it's accessible in local network, but for internet access you probably need to forward some ports on your router or use P2P Cloud connection. For more extensive answer I need more information about your system. -
I have problem with latest version of iVMS-4500 for iOS on iPhone 6. I add new device (DVR) normally, and get all available cameras' pictures. Some time later I can see only Camera 1 . If I try to reconnect to the device (Devices-Edit-Save) I get also only one camera. I tried reinstalling iVMS-4500, got all cameras for some time, maybe an hour or so, but later I get only one camera again. This happens on iVMS-4500 installed during last 10 days on iPhone 6. On Androids everything works fine. Also, it happens both with old 7208 HVI/ST DVR and and new Turbo HD DVR, so it surely has nothing to do with the device.

iVMS-4500 on iPhone6 sees only one camera

Solution: Installed NVMS7000, another Hikvision compatible app and everything works fine. Even looks better , if you ask me ... -
Convert Analog signal to IP Onvif
almelst replied to barnstormer76's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Almost every CCTV equipment producer offers an "encoder", a device which transfers analog video signal to some IP protocol, mostly ONVIF. Search a bit , but you may be unpleasantly surprised by the price. -
Ak357, It's certainly a fun looking at these pictures, but it ain't no fun paying the camera to get them. I guess that the second and the third picture are digitaly zoomed from the first one, otherwise it wouldn't be any fun at all. Btw, what is the camera's resolution?
-
Whaterever camera resolution is used, your monitor will probably have max FullHD resolution (1920 x 1080 ~ 2 Mpix) so you won't see any difference in picture quality with 3 or 4 Mpix cameras unless you manually zoom in. Digital zoom from to 4 Mpix to 2 Mpix is only approx. 1.4 ratio, but much higher price ratio. You'll get better result with four 2MP cameras than with two 5 MP. PoE IP or analog HD (TVI,CVI AHD) ? PoE IP is simpler for wiring, the analog HD is cheaper.

Using a cable TAP to insert a modulated signal?
almelst replied to dan@gnnllc's topic in General Digital Discussion
Generally , you should connect the modulator before any taps to minimize the attenuation, but you can try and connect it to any tap connection. Maybe the signal is strong enough to pass through reverse path attenuation. -
Post some pictures, DVR and menu screen, that could help.

Question about Analog to Digital converters
almelst replied to SMS's topic in General Digital Discussion
Why don't you use an IP camera instead and avoid using analog/IP converter ? -
Some time ago I posted a query looking for PC desktop ONVIF streaming software. Later I found three : Deskcamera, PC-CCTV and ScreenOnvif, but had no time for testing. Has anybody tried connecting those to Hikvision NVR/DVR ? Reviews are welcome!

IPVM's article on DeskCamera is available to members only. Unfortunately, I'm not the one, and I'm not in the mood paying $99 just to read few articles. Thanks for the info, anyway.

Both Server and RTSP ports must be forwarded, and HTTP too if you want to access via web browser. So , forward all three of them (HTTPS is not necessary) and avoid using port 80 , rather move HTTP port to some other value. About Web Components: check if your browsers were closed during installation and check security settings for other browsers.

General Questions regarding AHD system installation
almelst replied to bklynsoulja's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Yes, it is compatible! The whole idea of AHD/TVI/CVI technologies is to upgrade to new HD cameras without changing the wiring, but still keep downward compatibility with analog cameras. Only problem you can face is that on some DVRs analog and HD cameras can't be connected on any channel at the same time. On some DVRs same type cameras must be paired to adjacent channels (1-2, 3-4 , ...) -
iVMS-4200 username locked/incorrect password/username
almelst replied to anmakron's topic in General Digital Discussion
First, try restarting DVR. Second, are you sure that your admin password is 12345 ? It was a factory default until few years ago, but maybe it's changed. If you want to reset the admin password to 12345 follow this link: http://www.vikazo.net/cam/ Install Hikvision SADP tool First to get necessary info, and when you copy the serial number skip the first part which is device model number. -
Did you mean "Hikvision" ?
