Flash can be turned off, which is what I did on mine. 6 volt battery lasts in the winter 3-6 weeks with flash on. On board memory is for maybe 20 pics, you can install a memory card for $12.99 for 200 pics or larger card for more. My kids are getting a kick out of it, they set it out back each night and it takes pics of all the animals. A college wants to borrow one to see what there workers are carrying out the door at night when they close up.

Those digital cameras are awsome. There are heat /motion triggered within 35'. laser aimed. They can take 1,2,or 3 still shots, or a 10 second video. Flash or no flash, or auto flash. Memory cards. No sound at all. Hide them anywhere. they have a lcd display on the front that tells you how many pics were taken, how many left and battery life. The entire unit is weather proof. Great steath cam and portable! They take those large 6 volt batteries. They have t.v. out terminals, usb computer terminal, Completely programable to your needs. Software self installs to your computer. easy.

I am back. what a story. I think I should call Hollywood. I built the best mic and it recorded everything. When the next gun fire occured I called the police, they searched the woods and found nothing, said I made it up. I played the tape they held a private meeting and said "sighting a gun is legall" Afew hours later more gun fire, I call police, they search the woods, find nothing, I play the tape, they say "woods not posted" bye For a year, all gun fire has been at night now it stopped and now starts only during the day. Next day gun fire, I call police, they etc etc etc you get the pic. Each day I call, less gun fire happens. Then I search the woods and bring back shells, brass, tree stand pics, bullet boxes, pics of no hunting signs etc. I call the police and show them everything and also tell them I bought and installed 5 hunting cameras in the woods, cool cameras by (Moultrie) m/n 200, all gun fire has stopped!!! I will not tell them where the cameras are but show them the empty boxes. Funny Huh! no gun fire, no one caught? yea you all know!

Recording was poor again, I am trying Radio shack# 33-3022 tonight to test this preamp mic w/ a condenser mic, this has a very low frequency response. If this fails I am buying a mixer/amp/preamp unit. then I can play till I get it.

Problem is these are 2 sq miles of heavy wooded woods. They hunt deer from 3-8 a.m. almost every night. wildlife officer came out once and they did not shoot. surprise huh! So I plan to hand over one weeks audio/video tapes with a pic of the days newspaper at the end of the tape to the police. The sound recording will prove night time hunting which is illegal. Each day a police officer buddy will turn on my recorder and remove the key. he will come back the next day remove the tape install another remove key again for 7 days. The police will have to call wildlife and put pressure on them to find this guy

last night I used a better microphone and it did record allot better but not what I needed. I tried to install a amp last night all I got was hum. Today I ran 200' of #18 wire (door bell wire) got mostly hum. I then ran 200' of cable/sat rg-6 wire, no hum at all. Putting the parabolic microphone in the woods really helped with no more background noise. quiet as a mouse. I will cross my fingers, 13 more hours to gun fire! time.

Yes it is pointed towards the dish. I completely understand the weather elements, I am looking for as many days (Sunday a must) before the dish is found or ruined. I thought because the echo of the gun fire is loud, It would be so easy to record with a dish/bowl. I will also try differant wires on saturday, to bring the dish 100-250' into the woods and see if I loose any audio signal. I was also thinking of a wireless mic but the woods and trees would block the signal? no line of site! I learned that with the cameras!

I was hoping to build one, not for the cost but #1- I will install this was in the woods the weather can ruin it, #2- kids can ruin it, #3- the illegal hunters will most certain shot it. If I buy it I would have to tare it apart to record from 3a.m.-9a.m. no unit can do this. So I must build it. I Really need a good mic. The dish will be a s/s 24" wok or salad mixing bowl, they are smooth and very deep (perfect) It,s the mic I no nothing about. db's, etc.
  10. I need to make a parabolic microphone to record shot gun blasts from 500'- 2000' and have them record on my cctv system. My first attemp was a 18" sat dish w/ a sheet metal shroud. I used a Dynamic microphone rca #F-V100- frequency 100mz-10,000mz sensitivity 59db, output 300ohms unbalanced. It did record the shots last night but not as good as my ear heard it in my house. somewhere I lost allot of sound, any ideas???? thank you and please respond, If YOU HAD NOT GUESSED IT ALREADY,THE RECORDING WILL BE TURNED OVER TO THE POLICE AND WILDLIFE. they need a time/date pattern. thanks

Perhaps it is the cable? I only use snap and seal, t+ b fittings so rule that out.

I have been reading for a couple months now. Time I joined. I installed my 1st home cctv 4 camera system in May. b/w, $30-50 each camera from SORRY! E-Bay. bad system. Next I installed my second home camera system I asked other cctv users if they had extra cameras laying around and that too was not the answer, extra is extra for a reason. better system Next I installed my third system and bought all new color low lux cameras $125-160 each from E-Bay again. still better then my other two cctv systems but not great This learning curve has tought me, this is not as simple as it looks. I can now help the newbies out there and write a book "cctv for dummies". I would like to install my 4TH and final system with your help, one camera at a time. I am looking for a black domed color camera, with low lux.3.8-6mm adj range. non vandal proof. direct sunlight is a problem in the winter afternoons, just found this one out. so I need an auto iris? no led's or ir needed, I keep a 40-60 watt bulb on 60'-80' in front of camera's image and I have a great night pic with low lux. and next to the camera's is a seperate ir light from those cheap cameras that I left on. This is to be used on 150' of rg6, copper center, 60%aluminum braid coverage, 100% aluminum bonded foil. do not know sweep test.cannot change it. How did I do? any suggestions .. thanks
